whaaaat? but he’d be so tough and like. gamey. all muscle you know?
Wyrd should react to that but the killing civilians and also losing control of powers commentary take precedent. Unless you’re bringing it up cause they’re more muted about it, which boils down to ‘I don’t like that you did that but there are bigger fish to fry and they really sucked’
They’d have described Death Metal and what happened with him in more or less the same way, perhaps with an extra comment about how Rocket hasn’t killed anyone before or since.
High knowledge results in the Libra encounter being avoided. Low observation results in Dime failing to identify Libra, but Dime can recognise her and fight her anyway.
Do we get a chance to bring it up? I didn’t find the option to, even if I pick the “I tried to stop cannibal.” option Wyrd seems to give to further reaction.
I did replay the chapter and try the save civilians and kill Cannibal route and I’m wondering why there isn’t a “Cannibal endangered civilians so I killed him” option. The only options seem to be agruing that Dime felt Cannibal would get up and beat their ass again. Although it could be my psychopathy is too high?
Ah, double checked and the order of operations is:
you killed civilians and cannibal > cannibal killed civillians (whether you subsequently killed them or not) > cannibal was killed > default
I’ll think about tweaking some dialogue to incorporate an extra reason why, but I don’t know that Mal would hear out “I saved those people and then retributively killed Cannibal”. (there is a “At least I gave that bastard what was coming to them” option? But again, Mal is very in their head so the reaction is muted.
Yes, high (45+) knowledge as of the meeting in Masquerade avoids the Libra fight and you get an alternate scene.
Please tell me we get to make Catalyst experience a one, two, three, four, five (five for AdVenture, I miss them all so much) at somepoint in the future. They can use two hands and three tentacles to pummel that asshole to the ground. It’s all my Dime wants, they’ll be able to die fulfilled and happy
Eh, Mal can do what Mal likes; that’s everybody’s prerogative. Personally I find them a bit self-centred and self-righteous.
Navel-gazing philosophy time:
Obviously no person is responsible for the choices made by any other individual (assuming you were not encouraging them under duress, etc…) – they made that choice, and they went through with it. However: if one has strong reason to believe that someone will do something that really should be stopped… if you have the ability to prevent it (without going straight to extremes and cold-bloodedly jumping them while they’re doing their grocery shopping or something), and do nothing about it, while anticipating that they will/continue to behave in that manner… how much responsibility should lie at your feet?
Any? As much as if you passively bystood that action, having known with fairly reasonable certainty that it was going to happen?
I don’t want to be judge jury and executioner here – but during my first playthrough of the event, I’d already made the assessment of what sort of person I believed Cannibal to be, and that I was comfortable using lethal force against him. That’s not a decision I make lightly, even in a game.
Only inaccessible options are displaying their relevant info. Unless, I suppose, there’s no info to display… but I would assume that everyone gets the warning that path gets permanently blocked, in case they want to change their mind in the future and just aren’t feeling it right now.
Additionally, there’s a lack of capitalization on some of Surpass’ early nickname usage – swapping those for the nickname variable may be the easiest way to squash that one, as it’s likely being autocorrected.
