(WIP) Corruptant [320k words, New Update: March 3rd, 2026]

Two bugs I’ve found.

chapter 2 weapon selection. Selected longsword, text mentions sheathing a katana.

You feel like you already know exactly how to wield the longsword and flick it in your hands testing the weight. The sharp edge of the weapon almost begs to be used as your attention is drawn to the rack again. A black sheath perfectly sized for the sword sits along the rack.

You quickly wrap it to your hip and slowly sheath the katana. You turn to face the group and feel your head pound.

Chapter 5

line 2102. Devon referred to as him and not ${him}

Devon finishes his food in silence after speaking, and Everix mentions that ${ehe} will find ${him} a place to sleep. You and Sam are left in silence after the two of them leave.

And one more. Chapter 2, lines

2636 *if (not(sammeet))

2662 *else

2674 *if sammeet

If sammeet is true, both lines 2662 and 2674 play out resulting in two different variations of the MC interrupting the discussion between Morganna and Sam.

“I’ve already said no.” Morganna’s voice speaks with exasperation and a tinge of sadness, Sam shakes her head, yet before she can speak the door flies open.

Before I can process those however, the door flies open. Instincts guide my hand to my blade but before I can pull it out I see Riv. She is studying my appearance as we stare at each other. I can feel my heart rate rise, I… I need… I need to focus. I turn back to Mom.

I tried the new Update and i loved it. God you write the characters so well, give them enough screen time and moved the plot along the way. I reread the whole demo all the way through.

This was an amazing update! I love all of the characters, I love the writing and the story too!

Right now as a fem mc, my ro of choice is Sam. Love his character and the POV.

I know we have an antagonist living in our head rent free. I hope they can be redeemed and that they can end up being on the Blackguard’s side or that there’s no need to fight them. I want there to be a bigger badder villain or something because I feel like the one in our head is almost apart of the team besides the fact that they can’t interact with anyone else.

That could just be my take but, had to share it!

Has anyone gotten the achievements yet? I’m having trouble w a few:

  • You always were the one: You two made a good pair in the past, can it go further? (10 points)
  • Just say No!: If it were only that easy. (20 points)N
  • o, I am your father: … I don’t think the reference works. (20 points)
  • quick Thinking!: Prevent a terrible tactical mistake. (5 points)
  • Not the Sharpest Tool in the Shed: Make a painfully stupid tactical blunder. (5 points

Glad this is back. So I chose to stay standing but it’s says I winced in my seat after mom pulled out the book. “You grimace and twist in your seat.”

Really glad that this one is back ^-^ It’s been really fun and interesting ^-^

I think the premise and idea behind this one is very good and the writing itself is fantastic.

My only criticism is that there is this jarring experience between what the PC has gone through and how the characters that have been involved with the imprisonment act and treat the PC.

For example

Spoiler

The mother being so involved with the players torture and imprisonment is written in this way that feels like it’s trying to make us forgive her simply because she’s “sad” or “feels guilty”. It’s extremely jarring considering she has imprisoned and tortured us for years.

Then there’s Sam. Sam not knowing that their BFF or RO has been being tortured for years seem highly unlikely considering how dependent they are on the PC and how close they are to the mother.

To me it seems like the story itself is trying to hand wave the torture and imprisonment while also trying to make it the focal point.

I’m obsessed!

R we not supposed to be able to play 4 &5?

Its not like we can say no to anything without getting the bad ending but we can decide what to do with everything do know to forgive which is damn near impossible for some of the stuff or not while doing the job.

We literally got corrupted by something demonic so the chance was there in their defence we went mad and insane which probably why Sam was kept away cos they probably couldn’t save themselves from us thanks to our friendship if we tried to kill them. It’s the only thing I’m overlooking on our mum on. She screwed up and it can’t be taken back regardless of guilt.

Please can someone tell the author that picking full DEX build doesnt work when against Kilean even tho you pick Quickness as your first skill?

I’ve replicated exactly what you had previously sent me you did in tumblr and it all worked as intended. I’ve also overviewed the code and didn’t notice any bug with the Kilean fight. If you are stopping at the page right after the choice, you need to keep going to the next page.

If you still are getting the outcome where Sam saves you, send me exactly which choices you make during that flashback (via copy pasting them) and I’ll quadruple check everything for you!

No, you should be. Probably a bug, I’ll check.

I haven’t been able to replicate failing to get past chapter 3, would you mind giving me a little more context to what you’ve selected, what it looks like, etc, so that I can try and fix it for you?

I really should gather all the bugs I find and post them all in one go instead of drip feeding them. Ah well.

This might not be a bug but seems like it to me. Chapter 5, line 860 has three conditions to setting morgannawillaskaboutwounds to true. One of them is thomasfight = 7. thomasfight 7 is set if you destroy the training dummy. I suspect it should be thomasfight = 6 which is set if you let Thomas stab you.

You’ve been incredibly helpful!

I’ve already went in and fixed all the bugs you’ve mentioned, just waiting a little bit for updating it so that I don’t reset anybody’s save right now!

I somewhat agree, at least with your overall point. The MC has bounced back remarkable quickly. Flirting and joking a few hours after being freed is a touch jarring. I think most people would be curled up in a fetal position for a few weeks.

But for your points on Morganna and Sam:

Spoilers?

I don’t think Morganna is necessarily written to be sympathetic, certainly that’s one of the way’s the player can read it though. I think they’re someone with extremely messed up moral justification.

Leaving the MC alive is just, such a bad decision. Leaving a corruptant locked up in your basement is just asking for trouble. We see at the end of chapter 5 that at least one other person outside the blackguard is aware of their existence and is probably up to no good. Not to mention I’d argue the humane thing to do would be to execute them. I’d say she (very selfishly) doesn’t want the MC to die, and sees the essence infused blood harvest as a way to justify keeping them alive over the more pragmatic (and potentially moral) action of executing them. Which is all manner of messed up. And I just find that neat. I’m weird like that.

My current headcanon for Sam is that they did, at least on some level, know what was really going on with the MC imprisonment. After 13 years you’d expect there’d be few rumors going round, or they’d notice the giant vat of corruptant blood in Quinn’s lab and wonder where all that came from, or at the very least wonder why they have so many corruptant blood infused weapons all of a sudden. So I think they’re lying to themselves that the MC was just locked up in a cell somewhere. And they haven’t gone looking because looking would mean they might find something that destroys that lie.

But that’s just my thoughts, and I tend to over think these sorts of things.

Wonderful update, really invested in the story and excited to see where things go from here! I’m having a lot of trouble choosing between focusing on Sam and going for the Everix/Hayes poly- gonna have to make two characters it seems!

One thing I hope is eventually added is an option to tell Morgana that the MC would sooner kill themselves than allow themselves to be put back in that cell. Seriously, claiming she loved the MC then allowing them to be tortured like that? Nah, no way she’ll ever be forgiven by my MC, even if she tries to excuse it as searching for a cure/being overruled by the king/his council.
