2 weeks since the last update and… Chapter 2 has burgeoned way beyond what was originally planned. Chapter 2 alone is pushing past 40 000 words - that’s more than double of chapter 1 o:
And while the pace of action is slightly slower than Chapter 1 (or is it? ) The upside is that you get to have some great interaction with the characters you’re going to meet and also find out a bit more about Morovia! NPC dialogue and character building was definitely one of the negative points in Gladiator - so a lot more emphasis has been put into it, and hopefully it will make a difference!
Additional information about the rationale/game mechanics + a sneak peek are on patreon (free post!) so you can check that out as well Might post some additional stuff on Morovia’s back story and/or the game mechanics once I get them to work!!!
Glory to Morovia. (Like if you get the reference ) @Takashi_Shin
Yeah from your writing I guessed that you might’ve been prior military. Were you in the American army? If you don’t mind me asking, what did you do (mos)? I’m asking because I’m planning on joining the national guard next year and I’m always interested in people’s experiences in the army.
Also, it might be useful to include your military background in your op so people know that you write from some experience with its customs.
@Ferrata
Hahaha no I wasn’t - very far from it actually. I was in the Singaporean military, which has a national conscription somewhat like south korea and israel. I wouldn’t really know what it’s like to be in the US army, or to do it as a career but it’s definitely was quite a life defining experience hahaha despite being just 2 years.
What’s an op? Hahaha I might - but I also wanted to go for a more third world, militia kind of vibe too. I think we have too many glorified, seamless military action films/games that make coordinating 30 adults in a foreign land while getting shot at seem like an easy thing to do hahaha so I’m definitely trying to keep this gritty and raw
By op I meant original post in this thread. But yeah I totally get what you’re talking about. I definitely prefer the gritty angle you’re going with, makes it a lot more challenging and interesting, because third world countries don’t fight a rich man’s war like America does. In my mind this conflict seems kind of similar to the Rhodesian Bush War in that sense.
Ahh alright. That’s good to hear! Was a bit concerned that the style might not really fit too well w/ CoG/HG’s general raudience haha. Yeah definitely - and mostly it’s a lot scrappier than how it’s depicted. A lot of waiting, a lot of sitting around doing nothing. And then suddenly insane life and deatg moments. And then nothing. And the firefights themselves are often a lot messier and chaotic. Which of course makes it hard to depict well.
Oh yeah! I read up quite a lot about some of the modern-ish civil wars to prep material. Did you read about it as part of school or…?
I absolutely love your writing style @nauhziy I instantly knew I had to purchase Galdiator: The Road to Colosseum(Gladiator: Road to the Colosseum (Out Now!)) the second I completed the first free run, it was a marvellous beauty.
I am overjoyed by learning that you intend to eventually work on a sequel.
Coming to Blood on My Hands, in my first playthrough of the demo itself the game has managed to immensely impress me! There is a dire shortage of just old school military oriented games from the viewpoint of a JCO. Excluding the Fog of War and the Infinity series, I have been unable to find a top notch military action game, seeing that one is coming directly from the mouth of the war horse, my interest has piqued. I am really looking forward to playing the game:heart:
@Grindelwald
Hi there! Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement, and very happy that you got a chance to play Gladiator as well - it was a debut IF, so hopefully I’ll be able to pick up the lessons learnt from there and make Blood on My Hands even better!
Yes! Totally agree - that’s one of the biggest reasons. But also feel like there’s a lack of historical / military IFs in general. Is there anything you’re looking forward to seeing? Being very ambitious with this game, which also mean a lot more complexity - but hopefully it’ll be worth the wait!
@lolz
Hahaha well - there will be a choice, for sure! Not sure if I’m understanding correctly but wouldn’t the nationalists and patriots be similar though?
@Hani_Fina
Hahaha definitely didnt intend for that. But thank you for dropping by and playing!! Chapter 2 is turning out to be super tricky, but hopefully I’ll get it out sooner rather than later hahaha
@Emofang337
Totally agree with you on that - chapter 2 will be adding a ton of backstory so look out for it!!
Heya!! Not too bad actually. Just been very busy with work and my impending move overseas. But otherwise progress has been slow but steady!!! Chapter 2 is pretty intense tbh, wrote it thinking I had it all planned out but it got real confusing real quick.
