What do you want more of in IF-games?

That would be the “Evertree Inn saga”

I would actually like a game related to the purge. Wouldn’t that be something ?

Aside from Evertree there is very (!) technically also Death at the Rectory, but I really can’t recommend that one.

The next WIP I’m working on is a modern day Sci-fi murder mystery. So hopefully in the next year I will get that written.

Not everyone gets bottom surgery.

This is something I was thinking about too! If you wanted to balance that, how would you inquire about what the reader wants while remaining sensitive to people?

If I wanted to give the option to play a transmasc character, who didn’t have bottom surgery but had top…? Or what if I wanted to play a femme nonbinary character? Usually nonbinary just means gender is rarely addressed at all for you, from my historical experience.

I would assume adding a sensitivity setting would be valuable in regards to specific genital mentions, or whether a choice is provided for which the character has? Otherwise, I myself am unsure on how you would avoid potentially causing dysphoria for players who are not comfortable with explicit description.

What I want more in IF games is one word and one word only. Cuddling, yes you heard that right, after a long day of my MC suffering on angst a long cuddle is all they need.

Now excuse me while I’m imagining my MC just raising their arms up and looking at them with cute eyes to cuddle them.

Apologies ahead of time, what do you mean in this context? I don’t think that poster mentioned bottom surgery?

Don’t really understand what one defines as ‘bottom surgery’ anyway since everyone has an anus, unless one specifically means a vagina? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Uhh?? I don’t know how often people are having their anuses augmented, save for when certain unpleasant problems, but it’s pretty clear what is meant. Bottom surgery is referring to phalloplasty / metoidioplasty or vaginoplasty for trans people. It’s a term commonly used for gender affirmation surgeries that are focusing on the lower body, basically.

Ah, I understand! Don’t know anyone who has had that done so I didn’t understand the terminology.

Will elaborate upon this tangent in private messages.

This game did it really well:

Some Sword / Some Play by moniker ersatz

It’s not a CoG but it has a lot of the same trappings and style. The tactic they used was to prompt pronouns, top, and bottom all independently.

Cults, we’ve had a few good supernatural related IFs but i’m craving something that has that eldritch paganism vibes.

Old folk magic and rituals that isn’t overly flashy but makes up with lore and mystery with ominous and nice red aesthetic all over. Thinking something amongst the lines of Midsommar or Cult of lamb.

One of my story ideas has that sort of vibe (at least for the first book when the MC has no idea what’s going on). Unfortunately, I already have 2 projects right now, so I can’t work on it

…that’s mostly just… people getting drunk though?

Not so much in the movie version.

Ah, I wasn’t aware of a movie - my mind went directly to actual Midsommar traditions (for those that don’t know, it’s a holiday).

…and mine went directly to midsummer IF wondering why you two are misspelling that beautiful game

Nordic midsummer party. Swedish names are Swedish, surprisingly enough. (There is magic involved, sure, but a lot of Finnish holiday magic includes getting drunk, because of course it does. Not sure what Swedes do there though, apart from dancing. Never spent Midsommar with a Swede.)

Can’t see that as an interesting game, but maybe it’s just too familiar to me. (I do have a mystery idea that takes place during that time - and included a plenty of drunken people - but we’ll see whether or not I’ll end up writing it or not.)
