@Lucha_Markre I sadly don’t have any plans to do so because MC in the current events of the story, is technically still just a civilian and won’t fully become vigilante or superhero yet until the epilogue. Their current focus will be to find out the truth about their father’s murder and find justice or vengeance for it. But, I’m planning to give readers some options for the types of masks MC can use (or MC can use their Umbrakinesis to basically cover their face to just look like a void or a pool of shadows).

I like the story so far but my biggest problem is I can’t choose to name my MC Ash, I always name my character that.

@Knoez Haha I’m sorry for using your MC’s go-to name. Ash is just too cool of a name for me to not use for one of the ROs Also, I’m wondering, did you try to input the name Ash? Did you get the section that basically told you to input another name? I tried to make it fit into the narrative of the story as best as I could, what do you think about it? Coding those preventions for readers to input same names or surnames as important characters took me quite some time

@XaosMinion Hmm I don’t think it’ll be a good idea or even feasible for MC now to keep them out of combat, because the way abilities work in the story is that there are always side-effects to them being used too much or too intensively, some could be serious enough to even cause death. There are no abilities that can be left used passively. Even empaths need to consciously activate their power in bursts. Well, maybe except for Telepaths? But most of the time, it’s a downside for telepaths to constantly hear the chatters of other people’s surface thoughts and they actually needed practice to be able to tune them out.

I’m planning to create a very emotional and frail MC (I’m tired of doing strong and independent all the time) but at the same time I’ll pretend to not know this woman. The closer my MC ever recognized as a mother is aunt Clara.

@Marcelly I’ll try to also make the options for emotional MC to try and treat her as strangers as best as they could Sometimes, I plan some choices in my head ahead of time, but by the time of writing the flow and sometimes the characters just took over and forced me to write more options than I originally intended

@Fenrir1 Yes! The weapons I’m planning right now are handguns, knives, and maybe an assault rifle or an SMG for specific events in the story and maybe for a more combat oriented MC, since I think using assault rifles and SMGs effectively will require more training than handguns. But, I’m not sure… I’m not a weapons expert My only knowledge about guns came from Rainbow Six Siege

But the shadow claws though… Interesting… I think combat oriented MC will surely be able to use them effectively because they have hand-to-hand training as well. I’ll put that into the ideas bucket! Thank you for the inspiration! It really helps a lot!

No words are enough to describe how I felt after reading all of your kind words and supportive comments! I definitely didn’t expect so many readers and reactions in such a short amount of time when I clicked publish on dashingdon on 3 AM in the morning 2 nights ago!

I just want to say thank you for all of you readers for taking the time to read my story and giving excellent feedbacks and suggestions Not to mention all of your kind words, comments, and even enthusiasm about this little world and lore and characters that I created

Right now, I’m planning to take some days to go back to my notes and try to reorganize and make a clearer outline for the book. I already have a pretty clear picture of how the next chapter is going to look like so I’m hoping that the writing process will be smooth. crossing my fingers

In celebration of that, I’ve decided to crosspost what I shared on the Tumblr blog here. I just want to share a song that I’ve been repeating while I was writing and that helps me get into the MC’s and the story’s mindset!

This song’s lyrics and instrumental just really fit with MC’s story and the grating and raw synth really make the song sounds gritty, a perfect vibe for how I imagined Elysium City to be. I personally can’t find a more perfect song for this IF. I’m sorry if it’s a little disappointing, but if you guys like the song and are interested, I can make a playlist for MC later on or post other songs that I personally find fitting for some other characters

I’m glad that you bring this up because I also personally really hate this trope. So many video games and some IFs that I played that always give bad endings for players who choose to play as ruthless characters! It really feels like the readers and the MC are being punished and that there’s a ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ way to play the games, why even bother putting the ruthless options in except for those few readers who aimed for the bad ending. I still remember the first time I played ‘Dishonored’ and I killed most of the guards in every level and got hit with the bad ending

I remember blowing up a factory in the DLC for Dishonored. It was expressly established that this would only kill the thugs inside since the workers were on strike and the boss and his henchmen were assholes. This is somehow bad.

I’m glad you see the perks of the alternatives.

It must be hard to code all that I imagine that could be hard to put together, like an over dramatic scene where the MC tries to be strong and slam the door at her biological mother’s face but rigth after is crying like a baby.
