I’ve been toying around with a plot for a while and finally decided to actually turn it into something. However, I didn’t expect it to be this lengthy.
I’ve passed 20k words (including code) and I’m just about to finish what I consider the intro for the two main branches.
Do you have an upper limit of what’s tolerable for the games you make or play, or do you share my somewhat unstable belief that the words don’t matter as long as the plot can give them interest?
I don’t think you can have too many words as long it maintains interest. If the writing become boring then more words are a waste of space. If it’s interesting and engaging though then every word is just more for the reader to enjoy.
If it’s too short though then it’s a dissapointment when it’s over.

Exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
For example, Tin Star apparently has over half a million words and I wouldn’t complain about it being even longer.
Haven’t heard of it until now. Will probably check it out to see how something like that even looks like.
I don’t think there’s a limit. Tin Star is over 1.2 million words and is still a fan favorite. I think the only problem would be trying to keep people interested.
