(Updated 19/4/25) Project Calamity: A Prelude in the Divine—A Choice-Based Epic Fantasy (WIP) (~64k words)

Update 0.1a (~64k total words now)

  1. Adds ~28.5 words of content
  2. Directly skipping to any chapter (Was a mess to create…)
  3. The entirety of the orientation/first day (Chapter 3)
  4. A few fight scenes (From a 1v20 draw to getting massacred by your professor)
  5. An interlude
  6. Inaya’s first relationship event
  7. A 5 month timeskip (Beginning of chapter 4)
  8. More interactions will all the ROs (There’s this loaning pastry branch which made me go down the dessert rabbit hole. I am now an official gourmet)
  9. Be reunited with your martus
  10. Explanations about Channelling and its workings
  11. A bit of worldbuilding

Was pretty fun to write all the different interactions and classes. There are no game breaking bugs, but a few typos may be found.

Summary

"My child,” she begins, putting a hand on your shoulder, “calm yourself. We mean you nothing but goodwill—as is the will of Divine.” You feel like you should have a reaction to her words. “You may know me as the Divine Priestess, or perhaps the Wise Councillor of Malios; mayhaps the Priestess of White, or yet the Beloved of World. It matters not.” She kneels to your level. “You may remember nothing, or everything, or perhaps even things beyond your own. Again, it matters not.”

Everyone around casts wary glances, yet she possesses confidence enough to be nonchalant. “You are a Hasta, burned among the flames of the past. Is it the truth? It matters not. That’s who you must accept yourself as. Not to the World, but to yourself.” There’s an uncanny feeling around her which inclines you to believe all she says. “Because if you dig too deep, you may fall into an inescapable void.” She wraps her arms around you, patting your back. It feels warm. Incredibly so. “Some things are best left undiscovered… child. Because once learned, the knowledge one so desires constricts around one’s throat, and chokes one’s learned self while the ignorant walk unhindered.” She pauses for a second. “Who was the fool then? The living ignorant or the learned corpse?”

This one-sided colloquy draws to a close as she rises, leaving you in a familiar frost’s embrace. “Now child, you may take some time for reflection,” two liveried men appear at her motion as your escorts, “and remember, no one is empty.”

You are pulled along, as if destined, unable to object, all but a single musing on your mind:

You only say that because of your story.

For some reason, I felt ‘Uhhh, does it seem like I’ll want to kill you in the future and why does it feel like there’s an 80% chance?’ towards the divine priestess character who spoke.

I found that if I skip to Chapter 3 and choose ‘Of course’ in the question ‘Did you ask Inaya to marry you’, I can select ‘I have to take care of my future wife’ when buying pastry for her. However, if I start from the beginning and try to marry her in Chapter 2, this option isn’t available. Is this a bug?

LMAO I forgot to update the variable in chapter 2. Thanks for pointing it out. It should be fixed now.

The relationship event with Inaya is really sweet, an amazing job! Professor Dareen is even cheering for us. It seems now that the professors at the academy are quite kind and lovely. Mary is like a grandmother who treats students as her own children, Dareen is like a gentle big sister, Adam… well, apart from him being very strong, I don’t know him very well. I’ve already started to consider the Academy my home.

Same

It was so traumatising for me to write because in context with the Knight’s past, it becomes so :sob:

Hehe, so you already consider it ‘Maison Academy’

… …

… … …

Okay sorry, I will be taking my leave now.

So is the MC weak or strong?

RN, they are pretty much like a child thrown into the middle of the World’s most talented people. Luckily for them, their ability to emulate others can make them a master of all trades in the future.

I shall wait until it’s the right time

I was reading and the story is great and I enjoyed it, but…I just for the life of me cannot get over the fact that one character has my name (Iram) and two of the other characters are the same names as my two sisters…
