Mason manages to land on his feet with hardly more than a whisper.
“Show off,” Felix mutters to himself.
He’s straddling the second story hallway window–the end farthest from Nate and Adam’s rooms and their aggravatingly sensitive hearing–and feeling around with his foot to find something to kick against when he jumps down.
Mason crosses his arms and scuffles over to the hedges, looking more put out than usual, which isn’t much of a surprise, it took days of begging for Mason to agree to go with Felix to check out that fortune teller everyone’s been talking about.
“That’s dumb.”
“And cool!”
A puff of smoke clouded between them.
“Come on!” Felix’s shoulders sagged and he shuffled closer to whisper to Mason, “I know you sneak out at night anyway. I just need your help…please?”
And when Mason had stayed silent instead of saying no, Felix had to force himself not to grin like an idiot.
Mason’s earlier advice of, ‘Just jump’ echoes in Felix’s head, and he feels a swell of determination course through him as he lifts his other leg up to dangle over the window ledge, ready to jump down and run like hell.
Unfortunately, his leg knocks against the wall, causing some of the hanging frames to shake ever-so-slightly, and it is just Felix’s luck that one of them falls, shattering the glass and Felix’s hopes for a clean escape into a thousand tiny pieces.
Panicking, Felix jumps without a second thought.
He can’t help the grunt of pain that accompanies his drop, his knees buckle and his face gets buried into the yielding grass–he’s not at all surprised to find out that it tastes exactly how it smells when trimmed. Gross.
But with a vigor only young people have, he leaps back onto his feet, ready to run, only for him to take a deep breath of the cloud of smoke being blasted into his face.
“Mason, wh–” cough cough “–y the fuck are you smoking? Let’s fucking go–”
Mason thrusts his chin toward the house.
Behind the kitchen window Adam stares directly at them with a painfully bored expression, taking lazy sips from his glass of water.
Felix slumps. “Aw, fuck.”
“Language!” Nate yells, sticking his head out the window above, more disappointed-looking than ever.
Felix sighs in defeat; he doesn’t need to see a fortune teller to know where this is going.
I don't have an actual fic I can think of for this, but I imagine their reactions would be a bit like this
N: [genuinely worried] What happened?
M: [scoffs] Barely?
F: [blinks slowly] …and you’re just gonna shout that aloud in a police station? Smoothe.
A: [heaves a sigh] I’ll get the sulfuric acid, you go get a hacksaw.
Also, regarding M’s crystal am I the only one who doubts it’s a sentimental thing? Sera has mentioned before that M isn’t the sentimental type, so I figure the crystal might actually dampen their powers??? In Book One, they don’t seem to do anything beyond what the rest of the team can do, maybe they need it to dampen their powers to a level that allows them to function?
You are not alone! I only have the one MC, Charlotte Greene, whom I use to romance everyone because I actually have trouble making multiple MCs and Charlotte is pretty much me but better (and also worse) so it’s super easy for me to keep track of her, lol.
In addition, I also can’t ever really play mean characters, it hurts my soul too much and blegh. If I’m ever really curious I just dig through the code to read what I’m missing, lol. #notevensorry

@marceline_reyes Wow, I’m 6 hours late but don’t worry, I only have 1 MC too! It stresses me out to have too much and I always have trouble trying to develop one, let alone multiple MCs. I recently just started an OC blog for her tho and it’s been really helpful in fleshing out who she is! (cough cough angstdumortain.tumblr.com cough shameless promo)
I just play her with different personalities, depending on who I’m romancing. (But generally, she’s gonna be flirty af in all of them bc the saucy responses get me every time) Because if there’s an Echo World where supernaturals come from, there can be alternate universes of her with different personalities and she always ends up with UB because 
soulmates and the universe always brings them together!

i know this was just released but i already can’t wait until book two. i love how long and detailed it is and all the characters are just fantastic, i was on the edge of my seat the whole time!! love this so much also stuck in a bit of a love quad between adam, nate and farah because why can’t i romance them all? <3
