The Wayhaven Chronicles: Book One (Discussion) FAQ Located on Post 2

Here’s one, my current favorite.
Didn’t bother thinking up my own names because I’m garbage. And I like the default options well enough, so. Spoiler warning just in case.

Emma “I don’t open up easily, that’s all.” Langford (Short light blond hair, light brown eyes. Good but not great mother relationship, though it’s improving. Highest skill: Deduction/Knowledge) Occasionally sarcastic or brash, but overall a well meaning and devoted detective desperate to keep her town safe. Has a newly realized affection for scarfs. Weary of having near her neck touched after her brush with Murphy. I also headcannon that she’s got some scars there now which she makes up stories for when asked about. “Woah, what happened to your neck?” “Clowns.” “Clowns?” “Clowns.”
She’s a bit flustered by romance in general, and her growing interest in Ava isn’t helping. Though they do argue from time to time, the two usually get along, and tend to mirror each other’s opinions on things. They’re well on their way to becoming good friends, and hopefully more.

Loose thoughts? Emotional yelling?? Say no more, I’m polishing my reading glasses as we speak because I’m in! Honestly your theory about M’s backstory warrants me to do a deep dive playthrough of her route again! That, coupled with the fact that I have Sofia Boutella as her face claim

Hahah I’m glad you enjoyed my face claims!!! My bi butt won’t rest until I put a face to all of them tbh! I can’t decide on who to have for Nate like Godfrey Gao and Oscar Isaac come to mind? But I’m also like… remember the descriptions! And Farrah? I keep thinking Duckie Thot or Aja Naomi King  they’re both such beauties!

What about you? Who are your face claims?

I only have the one MC, Ripley Yuen, whom I’m using to romance everyone so far! I’m not sure if I can keep up with having more than 1 MC at a time because I’m too forgetful + I get sooo stressed naming them and getting face claims lmao!

But so far with Ripley, she’s a charming, stubborn smart ass who always lets her emotions get the best of her lmao! She’s a bit of a romantic that just wants to be loved, which is why she’s such a shameless flirt and it gets messy because she tends to fall into relationships super hard and super quick lmao. Two songs that describe her are: Drew Barrymore by SZA and Beggin For Thread by Banks.

I have absolutely no clue who I’m gonna have as her RO, I’m so torn between Adam and Nate! Maybe I’ll do the love triangle with her :eyes: seems like something she’d do tbh but who knows!!!

I really like your MC. They’re quite a bit like mine in terms or personality. OMG, I totally hadn’t thought of how the Murphy thing would affect them. Yeah, I can see the MC being kind of jumpy when it comes to their neck. I think they wouldn’t be like that towards Unit Bravo, though. Huh. I guess they really might need to cover their scars, but I’ve been thinking that maybe one side effect from their transfusion might be that they heal just that much faster. I mean, I can’t imagine that they suddenly got vampire blood pumped into them and it had no side effects :\
@ceecrab Ooh, faceclaims…hmm… well, someone suggested JLaw as Ava and I jumped all over that hc xD I also like the other suggestion of Sophie Turner for Morgan, but someone else mentioned that M is tanned, so  I also picture Natalia Dormer as Bobby, like Sera said

you’re too kind <3 I just got onto the train and I’m not typing a theory post like that on my phone, but I’ll scrape something together and tag you in it when I get home!

as for face claims, I’m pretty much one of the worst people you could ask I’m afraid. I’m not a visual thinker at all, so I don’t tend to have any solid images of characters in mind (which makes it difficult to find face claims). I look forward to googling the people you mentioned when I get home tho cause I bet they’re gonna be hot :ok_hand:

That speculation about M’s origins was so damn good, honestly! I’d love it to be true, because it brings so many unexpected layers to M’s character and makes the Agency look even more shady - that’s one of the things I look forward the most in the future actually, to see how exactly Agency functions, both in good and in bad. Some of their tactics seem to be quite extreme, and apparently they have this ‘we do things our way no matter what and at all costs’ mentality, even if it means that they must hurt inviduals. There was pretty heavy foreshadowing at the end, when A says that the Agency would sacrifice the detective if it guarantees that Murphy couldn’t use their blood…

That was… a rather impressive and thorough theory on M.

I’m actually really curious how close to the mark you are with this. :eyes:

Oh man! This is one of the few demos I tried out that I knew instantly I would purchase. I was not disappointed! Incredibly well written and I was completely immersed. I was so bummed when I got to the end, can’t wait for Book 2! Keep up the great work!

Uh warning for possible spoilerish content? The spoiler hide button doesn’t like me currently. Nope, still doesn’t. Anywho…
I’d think they’d be a little jumpy around everyone touching near their neck…for a while I mean, that would be a bit shocking. Team Bravo and the MC are pretty close though, so they’d probably get over it pretty quick though, or who knows, maybe they’d have a bit of neck ptsd? Maybe their RO or BFF could coax them out of it. I dunno, it’s an interesting thought though.

I do agree that they might heal a bit quicker, but honestly i kinda like the idea of their first supernatural foe leaving a lasting mark. I find it poetic or something. :P
Try writing this [ spoiler ] [/ spoiler ] without the spaces

And yeah, I definitely think they will have some (probably mild) side effects on the MC. I do wonder what effect it will have on Unit Bravo, however. At least one of them is going to blame themselves for what happens to the Detective. Even worse if that changes them somehow,
however minor the change may be. I can definitely see them feeling guilty every time they flinch or so on.

I’m honestly hoping for some kind of intimate scene later on down the road where we do let one of them feed from us for whatever reason.

Specifically in Nats case.

With the fact our blood seems to really attract her and cause her to pause after Murphy alters it. I really want something like trusting her enough to let her feed a little from us at some point(Who cares about the reason really as long as it makes sense), and then her drinking just a little too much on her own.

When it comes to Vampires I do enjoy though. And any kind of romance involved with them. I need at least one or two scenes in which it’s really intimate, and we let them feed from us.

I dunno…our blood is pretty much heroin. I’m not sure how good of an idea that would be. I’m sort of torn because hells yeah that’s rather hot, but wow does it seem like a really bad idea. Wouldn’t be all that surprised if the agency wound up doing something like that with it though…

Especially since in most vampire lore feeding is very…nice for the human  wink, wink, nudge, nudge xD

strong same vampires drinking from their human partner is one of my fave things when it comes to vampire fiction, and what with the detectives blood being able to make vampires stronger, I’m really hoping for a scene where UB is outmatched and we can offer our blood to our LI to help them fight

I’m wondering if it’d be nice for the MC though. They have pheromone blockers or whatever, so I do wonder if that’d effect anything.

Ooh, good point. I mean, it did hurt when Murphy bit them, right? So it would probably be painful. Or maybe that was just because Murphy didn’t care/wanted it to hurt?

How tall is the MC btw? I don’t remember ever seeing an option to choose it, it just said later on that your companions were basically “staring up to you” so I would assume you’re quite tall.

Well, some of them are pretty short.

Well…

From the description it sounded like it hurt more then it would have even if he was really rough. So…I dunno.

That would be part of the worry.

Not only are you trusting them enough to let them feed from you. You also know the effect your blood would have on them, and would trust them to use it obviously for good. And comparing it to a highly addictive drug seems kind of moot for me since I don’t think Murphy was addicted to it per say, he just wanted the power and craved it. You can call the craving an addiction to be sure.

But you know. That’d be another angle of even letting them do it in the first place. Again in Nat’s case.
Let’s say you trust her enough to feed her at some moment (Again for whatever reason) and she loses herself in it and drinks too much from you before realizing what the hell she’s doing. That’s a trust damaging issue and a very great setup for some kinda drama after the fact.

And even in the event it happens and someone becomes addicted to it, I am a hopeless romantic in these kinds of scenarios and believe we’d be able to help keep them out of being addicted, with how strongly they end up feeling about us.

Yeah. But you do have to remember the wounds on some of the victims. I think Verda(?) described some of them looking (paraphrased) ‘like he had jammed the needle in and moved it side to side, tearing the wound open.’ So, he can pretty damn rough. And in some vampire lore, the pleasure of the bite is caused by the vampire willingly releasing some kind of…idk, pheromone, in this case? So maybe that has something to do with it. Either way, we can agree that it probably would not be fun.
