The War for the West [Releasing Nov 14]

Is it possible to have a bastard child? The servant may become my lover and hurray! A baby was born out of wedlock.

When I played as a female character, the servant was a woman. Well… I did some ‘stuff’ with her. Is this intentional? Or will you change the gender base on the player’s preferences? I don’t mind being les with the servant. :joy:

I love how you made the wedding night! Each spouse have different responses when you ehem… consummate the marriage.

I personally like Lord Dannel’s shyness.

You can still turn that option on by going in Show Stats > Options.

Damn, I have been looking at the code for the past half our and I have no idea why that is happening. :cold_sweat: But it sure can’t remain that way, I’ll give priority to this.

EDIT: I think I found it! The handler for Event number 30 was not properly declared. It should be working now.

I guess I was considering whether it was ok or not for Lord Dullac to come to your marriage if you never refused the betrothal with his sister and you invite “everyone”.

I guess I never settled on this and forgot I had left it unfinished.

Holding Court events are randomized, so they can appear at anytime. I have made an annotation before of reviewing the marriage with one of the northern princess so you can put it “on hold” instead of deciding on the spot, as the prince wants you to.

:joy:

I’ll have to find a way to work around that, as the whole purpose of the feast was to lure you into a marriage.

Thank you. Making CS games can’t be considered a proper job because I’m still not making any money from it. :joy:

I work from home, mostly on small projects/freelance stuff, and those games are actually what take me more time to finish. I try to work on them at least a bit every day.
I’m considering the idea of the bastard child to be one of the “late game” consequences, after some kind of time skip.I still don’t know if this would be on the “first chapter” of the game or on a sequel.
I’m leaving it as a female servant, as this NPC in particular is written to be bissexual (or someone who really, really wants to climb in the social ladder). Female players have opportunity for sex outside of marriage somewhere else.

Thank you! I still want to work more on those, but it’s good to see that the idea is well received.

It’s a bug. There was a variable missing there, so the game wasn’t understanding that you had already chosen that option. Currently the training grounds can only be upgraded once(some other buildings can be twice or thrice, if I’m not mistaken), and the “armoury” itself is more of a meta-building, something on the My Stats menu for you to be able to see and equip your weapons.(But it wouldn’t be a bad idea to be able to upgrade it somehow)

The thing about the Quartermaster’s options is that I’m leaving it to the end simply because it is “easy” to do and I want to tackle on the hard problems first and leave the “easy stuff” for later. Still, seeing as upgrading buildings seems to be quite popular among the players, I’ll try to give it some special attention.

Thank you so much for that! I really appreciate it.

The servant is actually on of the most interesting dynamics in the game
Also, is the spymaster romamcable? Because she’s mysterious and powerful and I have this weird ass attraction to her.

i remember Dagon saying she’s your half-sister, but i can’t remember if that means you can’t romance her or not.

but i’m guessing you can’t.

Aaaaaaaaannndddd the squick is real.

If I remember correctly, it was stated that her background changes depending on some things (don’t remember what specifically) and that she will be romancable no matter what that background is.

Of course, I was skimming through posts at the time so I’m not 100% sure.

Soooooo happy to have that little scene with the servant girl, I just wish I could throw whoever interrupted us in the dungeon  Still eagerly awaiting a female suitor though :disappointed:

The thing about Jenneth is that her “true origins” are initially kept a secret even from your character. I was partly inspired by the book Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobbs, in which there is a sort of “tradition” from the royal lineage to put bastards as spymasters/assassins at service of the rightful heir.
In the game’s lore that is not exactly the case, but she somehow managed to climb her way to the spot of Spymaster while also hiding the fact that she is an illegitimate daughter of your father. Did he knew about it?

Still, the player can pursue romantic interactions with her, with or without finding the truth about her origins. Just imagine the player’s shock when/if he realizes he has been “doing it” with his half-sister. The questions which stands is: Why has she never told you so? What are her motiffs? Is that all that she is hiding from you?
Either way, this is yet to be implemented into the game.

may i asked how to recruit soldiers is there a way to recruit troops or i just completely miss that in the beta???

That is strange. Are you Holding Court when this occurs?

Only point where you can recruit new troops in large numbers is during the “preparing for war” part of the game. Otherwise you usually can just recruit a few specific NPCs.

So im not happy. It freezes up on me. And wont stop. I save right before it to but for some reason it wont stop freezing so i know its not my device.

I think you forgot to make a situation - when all the events occurred the holding court option disappear or in the holdingcourt file to redirect the player back to yourcourt if all events occured

3 things I noticed:

rusk = risk?

good experienced men/advisors?

And 3rd: I was holding court on day 3, I was listening to a lady from Boglan, I went to look at the Map in the stats page, and when I went back, I had a new court event (a bookseller).

I think you should read read the first post - in the end of it there is a list of known bugs and your third one is one of them

Yes, read that. I thought I remembered the author said they worked on it.

If he has then it’s not uploaded .
