The Thousand Of Us: A New World (WIP)

That’s a great idea but it would honestly be draining and might increase update time since we already have more than 6+ abilities that each need different and unique routes

I’ve had to study chemistry recently, and to give an idea of how OP this power is:

  • White phosphorus is a dangerous toxin that can cause severe and terminal organ damage if inhaled. It can be easily created by mixing phosphorus molecules with oxygen molecules.
  • Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas and is only one oxygen atom removed from carbon dioxide, the element that humans produce just by breathing.

Assuming power over the elements doesn’t include just disassembling someone on the atomic level, even someone with a passing familiarity with the periodic table could probably kill you with this power even if they were just screwing around. You don’t have to be a genius to leave a brick of carbon lodged in someone’s throat either.

First of all, I want to say welcome back. I’m happy to see you’re alive and well. First of all, I want to say welcome back. I’m happy to see you’re alive and well. I discovered The Thousand of Us in 2024 and fell in love with the story. I really enjoyed all the powers. How could we use them, but I especially liked the god mod; I always enjoy playing with invincible protagonists from time to time. I played the newly rewritten version and really enjoyed the extra layers you brought to this world, the MC’s thoughts and emotions. Rest assured that I will be following your progress in this new beginning. But I wanted to ask you a question regarding the powers: will God mode be the same level as in the previous version? It had been a long time since I’d been here, but from what I remember, in God mode the protagonist could do anything: control the weather, create dimensions, create divine weapons and fictional weapons from the future. Will the MC have the same ability in this rewritten version? If so, will you provide some lore explaining why, out of a thousand living beings Those who are still alive on Earth , the MC is the only one with this level of power? How will the characters react? Is the MC really allowed to do whatever she wants? Are you going to have the MC have the same reaction when she awakens her God-like powers? I remember the MC felt a lot of pain when she awakened that power in the older version of the story I remember the MC feeling unbearable pain all over his body. which makes sense Considering the level of power he would be awakening within himself. Does this god mode really make the MC omnipotent in everything? Can he really do whatever he wants? apologize for all these excessive questions, but I’m really excited about your return and the new version of your story.

It sounds like you played with hints OFF. If you play with hints ON, you’ll notice the point in the game where you choose your class and ability. Even without the hints off, if you did a second playthrough and made different choices, you’ll notice certain aspects of your awakening would change. Plus the dialogue and way others treat you would also change.

Yes, GM MC would be the same level as in the previous version. They’ll still have abilities that are the combination of all the other routes. And they’ll have an additional vague option pop up from time to time now, to “Go beyond”.

The MC isn’t really the only on with this level of power. Don’t forget, even before the reboot, there were always other characters like Alexis and Gaia confirmed to be beyond God class too.

The MC has already awakened in the current demo. The sequence with the mysterious voice in the void and the insignia being imprinted on their body was the awakening. That’s why you’ll notice that since you woke up from the big red incident, no one speaks to you directly anymore. And Murphy even mentioned what happened to Ron for trying to watch over your awakening to keep you safe.

Somewhat. I’ll get more into this on a later post. But yeah, the mc is technically omnipotent in that route. But at the same time, they aren’t. They’re their own limiter. You’ll understand more as you progress through the story on that route.

Please, there’s never a need to apologize for asking questions. I like engaging with questions like these. Thanks, for sticking around, and for all the kind words you had for the project.

Elemental Route Resolution

Before anything, I’d really like to thank everyone who provided feedback and suggestions. They’ve been incredibly helpful. I’ve read all your comments and suggestions both here, on my blog, and on Patreon. And I finally came up with a resolution about four days ago, that keeps both sides, and has been working well for me as I continued with writing this route’s parts of the update.

My solution ended up being me going back to almost the exact same vision I initially had for the route, before I started to think that both sides of this route might be incompatible. When in reality they’re just two different expressions of the same underlying concept at different levels of mastery and framing.

The main mechanic behind how I’ve decided to manage this route is to simply let the end progression of the route be approached from different directions. In reality, the natural elements like fire, water, earth, lightning, air… are not separate from the periodic table. They’re emergent phenomena produced by matter behaving according to physical laws. Fire is rapid oxidation. Lightning is electron discharge. Water is hydrogen and oxygen bonded in a specific configuration… The basic gist of it is, they are the same concept. One is the phenomenological surface we see, while the other is the underlying structure.

My idea is that the Elemental MC starts by perceiving and manipulating the surface expression of matter, the elements as nature presents them. Then over time, through mastery and understanding, they begin to perceive deeper until they’re operating at the molecular and atomic level. The mage fantasy and the matter manipulation fantasy are the same journey at different stages.

Going by this, you guys wouldn’t exactly choose which half you get. You’ll experience both. The main choice I’ll leave in your hands is the choice of which direction you emphasize during the time window of the game’s events, with the implication that full mastery eventually unifies both expressions.

The basic gist of how I’m implementing this can be broken down in four stages through the entire game:

Stage one — Natural expression. Early game, the Elemental MC would perceive elements as nature presents them. They can command fire and earth, call down lightning, direct water… and so on.

Stage two — The crack in the surface. A moment would come where the Elemental MC accidentally or through strain does something that can’t be explained by natural elements. Like rearranging molecular structure, transmuting one material into another, affecting something at a scale that implies they’re touching the underlying matter rather than its surface expression.

Stage three — Deepening understanding. At this stage the MC would begin perceiving both layers simultaneously. Natural elements can remain your primary language for this stage. Like your sort of instinctive expression for when you’re in danger or quickly need to use your abilities. But the main thing is that at this stage, your MC would start understanding why those elements behave as they do.

Stage four — Convergence at ceiling. Full mastery unifies both. The MC who mostly prioritized their focus on the natural side and the MC who strictly followed the science coded path from stage three, would both arrive at the same destination through different paths… complete command of matter at every scale. Neither path is locked out of the full concept. The specialized paths just reach different parts of the ceiling faster within the game’s timetable.

One thing to note is that this isn’t an outline of passive progression. If you don’t work hard to grind your core stability and other important factors, you could always remain at stage one even toward the end of the game. Similarly, you can put in a ton of effort, and progress to level four much faster than normal.

Well we already have super speed and more durability considering we survived the rain. I think powers will come more into play later since we just woke not long ago seeing the world has changed.

God mode isn’t even on the list of powers when I go to pick. Is god mode not available right now?

God Mode is available, so is Eldritch mode, and all the others. They’re just split into class sections during awakening now.

Play with hints ON. And when you see the point for you to pick a class for awakening, select Above God class. This would let you pick between God mode and Eldritch mode for your awakened ability in that playthrough.

You know most of the time from my experience at least, when the author is asked

“Why isn’t Mc strong yet?”

The response is usually

“Not yet.” or “Wait for book 2/3”

(Not that there is anything inherently wrong with that)

Your response is

“How much effort did you put in?”

Which is extremely refreshing to be honest mate. It’s what I’ve been looking for since forever. To earn power AND have said power be acknowledged by the story and characters.

Same brother look there is a lot of good games but they could have been even better if they are acknowledged

Will the pocket dimension have the mer people route like before? I found it cool how they can transform from land and sea, the cult, mermaid idols, it was really interesting.

Yes. I’m in love with the creative aspect of Pocket dimension and the worlds that can be created in there. So, that’s one thing that still remains. Along with the special storylines. I can’t promise them being exactly the same as before, but I’m also unsure I would need to change anything. I won’t be able to say for sure myself, until I get there with the rewrite.

What are the current /planned differences between God mode and eldritch mode?

You mentioned that Omnipotent MC is the limiter to themselves so in Eldritch does that mean the limiter is not there anymore?

Seeing that Elemental Manipulation can be upgraded/mastered does that apply to all of the other abilities?

Since MC is not the only one who is beyond God Mode does that mean it’s possible for God Mode MC to die in both Omnipotent route and Eldritch Route?

Before I forget will Necromancer Route be the same as before or in the reboot there will not be a predecessor/mentor?

I’m fairly sure I’ve played a longer demo than what’s currently in the original post, but I can’t seem to find the link to it QwQ
