Nah, I gotta disagree with some of you. Killing him is too kind for someone like him. No, no, I’m letting Richard live so he can watch me from afar. I want to torture him mentally i want him to suffer. I want him to watch me achieve everything he could have been (crowned king, loved by the people while he’s hated for the food poisoning incident,me winning the tournament, and to top it all off, I’ll have Clara all for myself) thats a very much better fate for him

I’m with you on hoping there’ll be a redemption path for Richard. He just needs a win, really, something that gives him a sense of accomplishment that is his own. And also probably far away from his mother’s influence, that’d probably help too.

He is literally projecting on MC all his insecurities because his own family see him as trash. Like I said we need a permanent solution. It just seems unlikely he would be kept around after he tried to raise his sword to MC before quickly realizing the fatal mistake he’s making. I just don’t like this version of him. He’s just gotten worse throughout the story. He’s gone from the alright step bro to garbage.

Him and his mother may have to be killed soon. Not cause I hate them but they wont change and are greedy and evil. I cant have to worry about a sword in my back. I tried being kind but he laughed when his little sibling got stoned. What kind of brother does that? A real brother would jump in the way.

Especially when still treating him with love, via the toy horse emblem. Like he is blatantly ignoring what it signifies. He is trying to alter what he thinks it means to me in order to villianify me.
My sister villians our parents. Saying they did abusive things, which were her x husbands. Drugs destroying her brain and memories.
Is the half brother taking heavy doses of unfiltered drugs then? It could make sense but it also takes years, not weeks to get to my sisters destructive memory alterations. Unless something more pervasive is used.
Only bringing it up for author to look into. If the route to turn him against us even though keep proving, I love him as a brother, not an enemy. He is changing what his memories of us together are in latest chapter. Wondering if heavy substance abuse. It also would be apparent to entire family.
Otherwise. Im confused by his blatant disregard. As in he lied about loving his own little sister regardless of the treatment given in love.

Make sure to keeping in a place with no power or followers and monitored at all times to make sure he don’t try anything or people try to make him a puppet king. This won’t work if the witches try to use him, but it sure work for anyone else.

I wonder it Richard would try to kill us at some point? If our trust get so low he tries it or if he does no matter what and backs down and give up if our relationship is high enough. Of course for me the second he tries it he dies. Attempted murder is crossing the line and he gets no mercy from me.

Originally I just did the hardest level so I could fight Richard at his strongest, but now I wonder if I should do the the Toy Horse for Thematic reasons? Thoughts?

If want to remind the bond of siblinghood and his first gift. I did the toy emblem. I also didnt fight him cause I would not be stronger than him. He should be able to kick his little sisters non-fighting butt too easily.
I am aware if use the toy sword emblem it makes the sword fight easier. He ends up holding back some. All this may depend on how you treated him and his gift upto that point as well.

I didn’t realize he could react differently to the toy horse engraving depending on your relationship with him up until that point, but it would make a lot of sense.
For me who had a very high relationship with him he falters, starts to regret his decision to fight and then after the duel his uncle says that Richard knew he had made a terrible mistake and had been crying nonstop since.

I feel like every few weeks this thread turns to “why I don’t like Richard” and “how can I punish Richard” and it makes me so sad! I love Richard, and I especially loved him in the original. I felt like he got a lot of unnecessary hate in the original, and I was hoping the remake could add some nuanced opinions about him… clearly that hasn’t happened

Ricard was not bad at all in the original and I agree the hate was overblown. In the remake Ricard is a lot worst of a person. While we understand his reasons but there is a limit on how shity he can be to our MC before alot of people start to hate (me include). His not unredeemable yet but his come close. The minute he tries to hurt us it over for him.

Eh, right now, it’s building up to him having a crisis against us. It’s his final decision that’ll likely cement everything.
I don’t wanna kill Richard, personally. Besides the fact it’s basically Charles-Francis all over again, fatricide isn’t something I find desirable, especially when it all stems from his parents being really shitty.

I think the whole thread’s point is to have people arguing for leniency for Richard on one side and him being some kind of traitor on the other.
I will say, at some point I hope it will stop as people keep getting in loops (which is boring) on this issue and refuse to change their beliefs (me included)

So the best and most loyal sibling so far is Atheris but she might just be a snake as her name suggests. Richard is a moron and Freya goes for a pirate. Why cant I have normal siblings…

I liked them prior to rewrite a bit more. I keep trying to be sisterly to all of them. Granted they don’t make it easy.
