Bruh wth why are people debating over spoiler tags in the short time I was gone
I always thought Mateo to be the cool uncle and a easy going guy…I was thinking of making him general if possible…And do u know how much I was disappointed when he turned out to be the killer…It defies his whole characteristics up til this point…Well played M.A.T.E.O
I had all theories of why Mateo did it, but the man having an unrequited love to our mom ain’t really one of them
This will be real fun to read when the game is released. Somehow reading all the spoilers, makes me wanna play the full game more.
There should be a term for that.
OH MY GOD I KNEW HE WAS TOO COOL TO BE REAL
So Mateo aside, what are you guys going to do about Ewan, knowing him he’ll probably spout vengeance and demanded the throne and the execution of the royal family, which I personally won’t give without a fight, that’s my opinion what’s yours ?
(Mostly) Rational Queen Playthrough:
At first, he’s like any other possible enemy of Rhivenia (and it’s already a war, the negotiations went kaput), and my PC will treat him that way. Upon finding out about their relationship as cousins, it would probably be a Elizabeth I/Mary, Queen of Scots type situation (with PC as Elizabeth).
Richard/Atheris Stan Playthrough:
My PCs will follow their kingly brother’s/queenly sister’s lead. They might romance Astryn in this playthrough, so that might throw a wrench into things.
Royal Pain Playthrough:
Not sure. What would be the way to deal with the situation that would cause the biggest headache for future Rhivenia that still leaves PC in control of the situation?
We hardly know about the guy so either
A) Erwan wants to do Revenge by Proxy and kill us along with our siblings
B) He only wants to kill the current king so he can claim the sword
C) Same scenario as A but Astryn defends us and he let’s us live in peace
D) He is more than willing to accept us and the other siblings as long we join his side
For Royal Pain i reccomend antagonising both Richard and Atheris while also romancing Clara
Or you could try to make Richard get the Throne and think for yourself that that Throne shall be yours while also romancing Clara
I’m not sure if any of those would allow for peaceful coexistence, unless the corollary to B or D is that he only wants the chance to try the sword, same as any other royal child of Rhivenia, and will retract his casus belli and troops and peacefully return to Pagonia if the sword doesn’t light up for him. Which is…unlikely.
That’s not how royal inheriting works. The king’s kids are potential heirs, the king’s nephews are… not. Besides, him trying the sword is irrelevant, because by the time he gets there, the Sword has already chosen.
That’s why I said it was unlikely that he only wants a chance to try the sword (and would peacefully return home if he was informed that it wasn’t possible/he failed)…that said, I’m wondering if there ever was a case where the throne passed to the monarch’s niece/nephew (either because they didn’t have any kids/all the monarch’s children were unworthy according to the Sword).
Yeah true, but seems like the Sword is able to get a new heir if it so does wishes instead of just fully disregarding the other possible heirs (and the only other heir at the time was Francis which promply got executed but still got a child that is a illigetimate member of the royal family and thus has a watered down claim)
That’s more or less the norm with the Karolingians lol, one of the kings of Aquitane was the heir for West Francia, Lothargia had the Italian king as heir, Germany had the Bavarian king as heir etc etc
And inbreeding is how Britain keeps its royal family German.
Great game! I really enjoyed playing it and romancing Xavier by bringing out my inner Cersei. I’m so glad I decided to read it when it’s releasing so soon.
I’m now wondering what would have happened if Charles didn’t remarry and Richard was his only son. Would the sword still have glowed or is the reigning monarch obliged to give it options?
Edit: come to think of it the sword wouldn’t even be needed in this regard unless it’s like a rite of passage or something.
Pretty sure that even if he didn’t remarry, he’d probably still have more than one kid since it’s heavily advised that royalty have more than one heir in case their first born dies, gets crippled or grows up incompetent.
I am with @JBento on this one, only the King’s descendants are recognised by the sword as possible heirs,I suppose if all of them die without leaving issue then other members of the Royal family would be considered but only after something like the collective death of the potential owners of the sword.
If Erwan(the cousin) arrives and tries to claim it when still members of the actual royal family are still alive probably would be rejected by the thing.
So we come to the ugly conclusion that if a claimant outside of the Royal family wants the sword and rulership of Rhivenia they need to do a massacre, honestly would be better for them destroying the pointy stick and just claim rightful rule over a new way if that would be accepted by the nobility is a whole different matter, rebellions and independent movements would most likely come to light.
Edit:
Asked Nutella right now back on tumblr to get that sweet official confirmation, hopefully they see it during the summer.
Richard got the throne while I’m being the best little sis to him as I possibly can, but I’m head over hills to Daemir
I wonder if it is pronounced “rih-VEN-ee-ah” or “rye-VEEN-ee-ah”.
I do the first, not sure if it’s right.
