The Sword of Rhivenia: Book One (CHECK #3830)

Richard’s reaction when my MC became queen was so good, ugh. “He never cared about the throne, but he always cared about you” I was so f*cken moved I felt my heart clench. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Am I the only one who keeps getting a broken load save when I load a save it goes to the relationship stats?

Mine was the other way. The text made it sound like he hated my guts yet he was at 46% relationship. Like come on bro…

Oh, I loved how angry he got.
’ He’s angry because you become the king.’ Pure perfection, I found him annoying when he kept bragging about being dad’s favorite and the sole fact that he indeed WAS the favorite one. Take that you twat.

That annoyed me too. I became the queen just to rub it in his face. So what if you were father favorite? The Sword has chosen. Ha, loser.
It would be even more satisfactory when you steal his girl too.

I’ve just realised one thing important regarding the horses given to the siblings, I said earlier in one of my posts that the four horses somehow resembles the Four Horsemen in the Bible, and the MC will always be given the brown one, I have a slightly uneasy feeling about this: White stallion/gelding(?), Brown mare, Black mare & Grey mare

  1. How many people can we marry at the same time?

  2. Can we have affairs as well as children outside of marriage?

  3. How big a part of the game is having a family going to be, is it going to be like in most games where we have some choices to do with them and sometimes text will show up about them but that’s it or is it going to be different?

  4. How many children can we have? and will we be able to have twins and more or just one at a time?

I would like to draw attention to the frequent use of “trustable.” Now, this is a valid word appearing in several dictionaries, however, it has fallen out of use in favor of “trustworthy” which sounds a lot more natural, at least as a native speaker.

Just finished the demo. Minor grammar errors. I feel like some choices aren’t choices at all. LIke with the downtime choices. Where you pick what to do before a meeting or going hunting, I liked the Unwanted Warrior kind where you have to pick 2 out of the 3 downtime choices, you know. This one is like you have the ability to cultivate every RO (sometimes that’s nice) but, it want to feel the restrictions of being a royal heir. Other than my nitpicking, everything is good

Oh god, I’m so SO sorry for what happened to your other work. I know how infuriating it is. I hope you’re okay?

As for this one, well, I love it so far! I liked the previous one, but I like this one WAY more. It’s so engaging, and I genuinely care about everything that happened to the MC and his family.
Not to mention, I’m thrilled to have gotten the position of king - I didn’t necessarily aim for it, but it still happened. It was so touching to see Richard happy for his brother. And also, on a grimmer note, I find it fitting since I can’t help but think about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse with the horse colors. War is coming, and the Horseman of War is represented with a sword. Since the MC is the one who has the brown horse, it feels like destiny for him to be chosen by the Sword and have to face the war.

I also can’t wait to see what will happen now. My chosen RO is Xavier, and my MC helped him escape. In the end, it wasn’t necessary since he could have freed him once he became king, but it’s not as if my MC knew he would be chosen. His act probably feels even more genuine since he did so when it was an actual risk for him. But that aside, there’s the fact that maybe, just maybe, it’ll allow for a true alliance to be born again with Xavier’s country. Let’s hope.

I have noticed some errors though, mostly coding:

When Xavier is introduced:

Richard presented the MC as such:
“This is my half-brother, Blair. Don’t be offended, he always looks serious.”

As it is, my Playful/Serious stat is in the middle.
I selected this answer: “Seems like my half-brother doesn’t know me well,” you let out a breathy laugh.
That answer feels like it should make the Playful stat go up, but it’s the Serious one that went up.

Once it's known that war is coming:

When you have an opportunity to talk to Richard, the two last options are: “Care to share the reason for your sadness?” and “Are you alright, brother?”. But both lead to the dialogue resulting of asking the reason for his sadness, even though you gain affinity only when asking if he’s alright. So the stat increase is correct, but not the text displayed.

If you let Jarean work for the castle:

The next page shows the dialogues for both agreeing and refusing:

“I’m glad you let him work in the castle,” Matteo admits. “He has a talent. More importantly, he has a good heart. He could’ve received so much gold for the ring, but he didn’t sell it. He’s a honorable young man.”

“I hope he will not cause any trouble,” Sir Arnold mumbles under his breath.

“Come on, old man, admit that you like him too,” Matteo grins at him. His face slowly falls as the knight gives him his infamous hateful look.

“Maybe you should’ve at least let him have the ring,” Matteo says. “He has a talent. More importantly, he has a good heart. He could’ve received so much gold for the ring, but he didn’t sell it. He’s a honorable young man.”

“Well, he should’ve sold it when he had the chance,” you shrug. “He didn’t. I assume the situation is not as bad as he describes.”

(Then it goes to the talk about the king being ill.)

If you go after Revna when she and her brother fight:

The MC says that now he understands why their relationship is so strained, and there’s that answer:
“Bray was going to side with us,” she grits her teeth angrily. “He wanted to stay with us and fight by our side. He loved me.”

If you then select for the MC to say he’s truly sorry, he repeats that now he understands why their relationship is as it is, and then the entire bit I’ve copied is repeated too.

A bit later you can check on Daemir:

Another repetition:
Daemir sits on the stairs, gazing at the gates, but his mind is somewhere else. He either thinks about his sister or the war. The latter makes more sense.

You sit beside him quietly, not wanting to interrupt his peaceful moment. You lift your head to look at the sky. When did it get darker? Times passes fast when you live in your thoughts. I think that’s it! It was really great!
I’m sad this is all we’ll get before the full release haha!

I would love to have an option which would let me to say “If you say so” or “Ok.” or (“I’m happy for you.” with the i don’t care vibe)

I chose to not intervene at all at the tavern, yet the game acted as if I did.

I’m so sad for the Unwanted warrior it was one of my fav wip : c Sorry that it happened to you

On another note I really like this ! The relationship with our siblings feel very natural.
If I may propose something however it would be to have shier flirt response. I remarked that most are the MC directly telling the Ro they care about them. A shy Mc would probably not be this forward.
It would also be great if the flirt options were clearly marked. As sometimes I can’t 100% make the difference if the option is friendly or not.

Is it possible to have your character not want the throne but get it? I just like the reluctant king/queen trope

I think it is - my character didn’t care one way or another and got it.
I think it depends mostly if not only on the Leadership stat?

At the Pub during the fight, when one chose not to intervene the mc would still get matteo’s “Really, Insert name?” “Did you really put yourself in danger for that boy?” Reply. Doesn’t feel intentional to me noo?

My MC is throwing hands at the air rn. Her leadership is at 65% and somehow she still got the Throne.

Hey, they are what… sixteen? 65 is a very decent leadership stat haha! Mine was 69 I believe?
