Don’t know if this helps, but if you promise to not use PAC money during the town hall question you will be forbidden from doing so
That’s the problem, I didn’t choose the answer to not accept Pacs, I choose the option to directly answer the question, and then went back and picked to avoid the question, and it didn’t let me use Pacs
Might be a bug
Wait yall is there ANY way to to pass universal healthcare
I.e the progressive healthcare bill.
It doesn’t matter what I do it always seems to fail.
What background choices did you have to make to make it possible?
You can’t pass it at all as a Republican
I wanted to quickly make public my list of bugs and fixes that are planned before publishing. The public demo won’t be updated further since the story has already been submitted for publishing, but I wanted to let you know what issues I’m aware of currently.
- Nunez primary sequence rebalance (it should be slightly more difficult to defeat him in a primary challenge)
- I need to fix the universal healthcare sequence to make it possible to pass as a Democrat
- I may add in (as was suggested) a choice during the prologue to slightly impact your starting ideology
- Fix an issue where Nunez is still appearing in the epilogue for players who win the primary but are defeated in the general election
- It seems like there may also be a slight problem with not being able to offer Nunez the VP slot even if he asks for it (the choice isn’t appearing)
- Need to look into a bug about not being able to use PACs even if you don’t make the pledge not to
I also am planning on sharing a prologue teaser of my side project with Patrons as a Christmas gift–I will likely stop working on this once TPH is published, but it’s been a nice change of pace in the interim.
Hi friends!
I’m happy to announce that I’ve finally gotten around to creating a discord server as has been requested by folks a few times in the past. While I’ll still (of course) be posting major updates to the forums and intend to stay active here, I wanted a space to post about all my other writing projects and ideas.
If you don’t have any interest in joining–no worries! I’m going to continue posting regular updates regarding TPH on the forums whenever I get them. If you’re interested in hearing more about other stuff I do, however, I think you’ll enjoy what I’ll be posting to the server.
Sometime this weekend I’ll be announcing the side-project I’ve mentioned in some of my other posts. It’s quite different from TPH but it’s been enjoyable to write and hopefully will be enjoyable to read as well. I won’t spoil too much, but you can expect to see power struggles and politicking in a fictional world loosely inspired by the Renaissance. Members of the discord server will get a broad synopsis of the story and Patrons will get access to the current prologue. I’ll also include my usual disclaimer that TPH:2 is still planning on being my main focus after this story is published, I’ve just been enjoying working on different projects in the meantime.
Please also bear with me if the server is poorly organized or missing things–I only created an account a few months ago for personal organization, and have no experience making servers. Your feedback and comments are appreciated and welcomed!
If any of that sounds interesting to you, feel free to join the server using the link below!

Im not a Repub. I’m a left wing democrat from Cali. But it doesn’t matter what choices I pick in the character creator. The Dem party votes against it. What have you done to pass Universo Healthcare before ? (Opening choices and whatnot)
After a decent amount of trial and error, I’ve been able to come up with a character build that gives you the best possible electoral results, in both the midterms and your re-election, while mostly keeping your hands clean of corruption.
Prologue
- lower class household
- choose the political connections spouse
- join the Marines
- The media loves me (when talking to Jacqueline)
- run for governor
- sit with your business associates
Chapter 1
- Take A few questions
- talk to Jacob and be polite
- talk to Bill, tell him you want to keep working with him, but politely reject his bribe
- then talk to your VP to finish up the party
- Lee is easily the best choice you have for Secretary of State
- Pick whoever you prefer for defense
- same with treasury(Don’t go for David’s, we avoided him for a reason)
- Pick Jones for AG
- listen to what the Russian wants and then tell him to kindly screw off (this bit isn’t really necessary but it’s fun)
- spend your free hour calling up random American citizens
- something to keep in mind as you play from here on out, if you’re a Democrat, make sure your character stays under the moderate/progressive label, and if you’re a republican, same applies to conservative/moderate. Move too far away from your parties traditional orthodoxy, and you run into the Nunez problem in chapter 5, and that’s a lot of resources you’ll have to waste on dealing with him instead of the actual general election
- pick your major bill topic and executive orders accordingly
Chapter 2
- Pick the Asian summit
- handle the cabinet meeting and your chosen version of your major bill based off of your ideology, as mentioned above
- Threaten Peter with a discharge petition
- invest the full $500,000 into lobbying
- boycott Saudi oil
- appeal to Berkovitz‘s ego
- ask Bill for lobbying money
- move in a low priority satellite to gain leverage (during the Russian satellite crisis)
Chapter 3
- Downplay the gaffe
- leave the vice president to handle the hurricane
- Lift the restrictions on South Korean imports
- don’t lift sanctions against China
- authorize the anti-terrorism operation
- authorize diversionary tactics (if you have vice president Hill)
- loosen the rules of engagement
- refuse additional drones
- take the target alive
- Focus only on military targets
Chapter 4
- keep Lila employed
- engage in the public private storm recovery efforts
- don’t veto the opioid legislation (you have a good enough relationship with Bill to minimize any damage)
- go to the Colorado fundraiser
- take Roger with you
- give Bill his grant
- don’t invest any money in Congress (keeping Bill more or less happy, having a great fundraiser, and an approval rating above 57% is just enough to squeak out the best possible midterms result)
- don’t make the cyber breach public
- Wait for more Intel
- enjoy your popcorn
- appoint a special prosecutor
- go with the massive media blitz to proclaim your innocence
Chapter 5
- Focus your speech on the future
- Run for reelection (obviously)
- Choose Carter for the job
- Focus on fundraising first
- Then go with voter enthusiasm
- Dodge the campaign financing question
- Spend $25 million to take out Hoffman
- Go back to your popcorn bowl
- host the convention in Wisconsin
- take the attack to Burch
- primarily invite party officials
- ditch the VP
- Pick Aguilar
- give the governor her money
- for the teachers strike, sticking with the party line is advisable, or Dodge, if you don’t want to do that, but you can oppose your party on the issue and join the opposite side of the issue if you want to
- keep Aguilar in the Spotlight
- promised to moderate free trade agreements
- Focus on specific policy items
- republicans should promise to shrink the debt, dems should dodge, but you can, once again, take the other path if you want to
- get that journalist out of Russia
- condemn Mexico
- Buy the debate questions
- tell Aguilar to stay calm(She’ll get slaughtered, but whatever)
- shake Burch’s hand (might as well be polite here)
- Defend your economic plan with specifics
- Share a personal story
- promise to support Taiwan militarily if necessary (admittedly this is more of a personal preference thing of mine)
- emphasize experience and leadership
- spend your last $10 million to finish the job(I will note that picking Roger as your VP makes this a shit ton easier because you can use him as an attack dog, he’ll win the VP debate, and all you need to do is not screw up your own debate, which gets you the landslide without using any money, but I really, really don’t trust the guy and you’ll have to run a dirty campaign by default, no thank you)
- Now seriously, get another bag of popcorn, you’ll need it(462 electoral votes for Dems, 414 for Republicans)
I’m going to test this
Well done!
Why did you invest 500,000 for lobbying?
Because that amount of money is essentially nothing in the grand scheme of things, so you have nothing to lose
No I mean does it give any extra approval
Oh, yeah, it does, a little
Hello again friends!
For the quick TPH update: the story is still in content review. I don’t have an updated timeline but I will let you all know as soon as I get further information!
In other news, I wanted to send out a quick post again to shamelessly promote my Discord server! I was quite hesitant about starting it, but we’re forming a lovely community on there where I’m sharing a lot more about my plans for TPH2 and other writing projects. The real House of Representatives will also be trying to elect a Speaker of the House today around noon Eastern, and I’ll be talking about my thoughts and predictions on the server with you all if you’d like to join me!
No matter what, I’ll be sure to keep posting on the forums when new information comes to me. Hope to see you there and grateful for your continued support!

Hello everyone!
I am super excited to share that the content review for TPH is finally completed!
I do have some minor bug fixes and tweaks to make in the coming days, but I will be sending over the final game files to Choice of Games within the next week or two. Once I do that, the story will enter their production process. I don’t know exactly when the story will be scheduled for publishing, but getting the content review completed is the first major step.
I will of course fill you all in on updates as soon as I get them, but we are really starting to near the finish line of this long process! I will also be once shamelessly promoting the Discord server linked in the message just above this one. While I will be sharing my next plans on the forums after publishing (and I do expect that to be TPH2), I am sharing a lot more about the outlining process and ideas for the potential sequel on that platform.
Thank you all again for your kind words and support over the few years that it’s taken to get to this point–they’ve continuously motivated me to keep pushing through the very solitary process that is writing. I can’t wait for whatever comes next!
Congratulations Mr. President!
As the old song goes: Hail The Chief!
No but seriously Congrats on making and releasing the first Political CoG game!
This game will be released this Thursday, March 6th!
