The Marked (WIP)-- Update 05/18/26–

I’m still at the beginning so maybe I’ll get to see later, but I’m wondering what exactly light, force, and dark users would do in combat after speaking to the priestess. Fire, water, and air all seem pretty obvious but I can’t really imagine how the others would be useful.

This is just guessing on my part, light will blind your foes and let you create illusions to distract the enemy, force is just control over gravity which will let you pile pressure on a person or push them away without physically touching them, darkness will let you be one with the shadows and probably have control over others shadows

You’ll be able to use each of the affinities fairly early on so you can try them out and see what works.

IIRC Darkness allows you to drain other ppls life force/essence and mess with their mind, probably could also use it to block out their sight similar to Light.
Light you blind ppl with but it also can allow you to use prophetic spells (perhaps a spell that allows us to see a few seconds into the future without incapacitating us would help in combat?) and heal people (at the cost of our own life force/essence) which I could see us overloading someone’s regeneration and giving them tumors with.
Force as you said is straight up gravity magic, we could use it to control blades and other weapons to fight with while also (as you said) weighing down the enemy and decreasing our own weight to move faster, disarm them and tear their armour off and if we get really good at it perhaps we could even straight up rip people apart.

Yeah, makes sense to me. Thinking on it further, force users of sufficient skill could maybe operate like a typical telekinesis user and dark users could work like Shikamaru and/or Gecko Moria from Naruto/One Piece.

I just want to clarify that light and dark aren’t representative of light and shadow. Light is healing and precognitive and doesn’t use illusions. Dark causes weakness and pulls emotions, memories and thoughts and does not use shadows.

I’ve uploaded a tiny update for the game. It’s 9,956k words of filled in WIP content from the last update. Anle’s conversation is finished as well as Venali, Triv and Welling’s options at the banquet. I also added in another choice for handling the insurgent as well as a follow up with Preval if you prefer to tell them/end up meeting them.

I hopefully fixed a couple of scenes I accidentally hid like some of Welling’s class assignment, a bug for the letters with Nyx/Fior if you had a specific birthday season, the light affinity and pious visions, etc. If you run into any bugs or have any issues just let me know!

Hey, loving the story so far! Just have one (maybe dumb) question

I’m at the birthday season picking part and I just wanna know which irl seasons Solste, Nyst, Alwest and Nubest are supposed to represent, if they do represent the irl seasons in the first place to begin with anyways (I gathered Solste is like Summer and Nyst is like Winter though, just unsure about the other two)

Helloo, it’s not a dumb question at all! So, in Navaaria, the quarters are mostly similar. Brakkus’ magic creates a sort’ve dome or green house that maintains a forest biome with even temperatures. It’s because of this that the quarters don’t vary by much. Solste and Nyst reflect the twin moon’s positions. Solste has longer days and Nyst has longer nights, but the temperature is mostly the same throughout both. Alwest and Lubest are differentiated by their holidays and other signifiers. Lubest is the start of the year and has the canterberry festival. Alwest is typically viewed as the best time for travel and people are given time off to do so.

It’s why they’re quarters instead of seasons! Navaaria is pretty stagnant year round.

Ahh, I see now. Thanks for answering! ^^

Hey, I’ve greatly enjoyed reading/playing thus far! The shopping scene with L and S stood out to me, probably because I get to hang out with both of them. The dialogue between S and my MC about getting the orb-crafting book (my MC has that as their specialty) was heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.

bugs I’ve noticed

While you have noted a very slight refined tilt to his voice, her accent didn’t seem much different than anyone else’s here in Braum. [I believe it should be “her voice”]

"My classmate Onas—a Mage—said that the Holy throne was corrupted. I think because King Ivyn Solarus is the second Guardian crown in a row? I’m not sure, but he grew really upset and used his magic in the classroom. He knocked over a couple of desks too. " [supposed to be Ori in my playthrough]

You start to follow the silent instruction before a thought returns to you once again. She’s a Preval. She’s a Preval and she didn’t tell you. [wrong pronouns for Emryr here]

I’m more concerned about why Emryr chose for us to go over his over clusters. [second over probably meant to be “other”]

“Ah.. of course," Leon comments, mostly to herself. [pronoun bug]

“It’s all… so different." Leon laughs quietly at herself “I mean, of course it is, but—" [pronoun bug]

But—if you can’t see it—i’ll just have to tell you often. [missed capitalizing an i]

“Which means I’m know how to compose myself." [I think that “I’m” should just be “I”]

Thank you for all the typos and bugs! I’ll try and get them fixed sometime this weekend. I’m glad you liked the shopping scene though. I really wanted it to be a little moment to reconnect with/learn something new about (if you didn’t hang out with them as teenagers) Welling and Trivelyn!

Triv has a really hard time prioritizing themselves which you’ll see more of as the story goes on.

I am eating those little moments up. On the Welling RO train currently, so it’s nice to be able to connect with Triv after choosing all Welling options during the teen phase

Do you have any plans for off-plot Venali & MC building scenes, as well? My diplomatic, control, genuine (force) MC still thinks they will make friends of them in time.

Also, the crush confession with Dion and Elaine isn’t triggering when choosing “Wait for his response, curious to see what he says.” I went back and made sure I chose what I thought all of the romance building options were, but I think there may be a bug there, also.

EDIT sorry about the double reply, I didn’t think I had linked to the post the first time I replied so I redid it, but turns out I did do it right the first time.

It’s too early for particularly open conversations with Venali, but you can choose to have them walk you back to your quarters and/or speak to them at the banquet! Friendships/relationships will develop differently for everyone, but they’ll all have their own scenes.

Also, the crush confession with Dion and Elaine isn’t triggering

The crush confession only happens if you had high romance flags with Welling, but didn’t make the canterberry outing a date. If it was a date, Welling doesn’t need to confess to anything because they technically already have once before!

I understand/was expecting that. Sorry if I came across as asking why there weren’t scenes currently available :see_no_evil_monkey: I thought my use of “plans” was indicative of asking about yet to be released chapters. My question was still answered, though :victory_hand: Happy to hear about the possible future scenes!

Oh! Okay, yeah, that must have been the difference between the play-throughs  My bad.

Don’t apologize! You didn’t do anything wrong or come across negatively. I was just trying to give you a detailed response, that’s all ! But yes, there will be lots of scenes for everyone lol

There are lots of little variances in dialogue depending on friendship values, romances values, rival status (Venali), who you went to the canterberry festival with, who you had your prologue “lesson” with, etc. Every relationship has its own little dynamic!

Is it possible to get the I forgot the name of it atm but the ability where you are super smart essentially?

Nope I forget the reasoning the author gave a while back but its not a possible path for our MCs.

Yes, just as @Valixon said! It’s just Mage and Guardian. Prodigy wouldn’t fit very well with the storyline. Also, it would probably be very limiting and not particularly fun to play, haha.
