True, but christopher is young and since hes muscular he would also be the most helpful with things like “Jam the airlock shut even though its hard to move” plus he doesnt have any medical conditions, so you wont need to waste your meds
I don’t know, I needed more medical attention when I was an “invincible” and healthy young man then I do now as an older, smarter, and still fairly healthy middle-aged man.
Preexisting conditions and age are only a part of the story medically speaking. Most accidents are either the old and fragile or young and stupid, and sooner or later we all hope to live long enough to be old. So if we can skip the “risk taking” stage (teen to mid 20’s) then we can lower our medical needs at least a little.
Thats true, but in this situaution, you have very limited supplies so nothing can be wasted on an accident, and i think an 18 year old is smart enough to understand that.
I think having to spend your entire life in cramped quarters with the same people would make traits like Carol’s charisma and personnel experience or Reena’s outgoing personality more desirable then strength or skill.
This is a space ship, so there is only so far prior skill takes you. Andy’s teaching experience could be invaluable in teaching children who are born in space with no knowledge of earth. But plumbing doesn’t work in space without gravity. And even if we use centrifugal spinning to fake gravity it would still make most of what Kiran knows as a plumbers apprentice obsolete.
True, but there’s also the perk of being more suited to the lifestyle. The people with spouses or young dependent children/ grandchildren/ pets would want them on the ship and that takes up more resources. We can leave the loved ones behind, but that may cause survivor’s guilt that you left your own love behind on a dying planet while you get to live; I’d then have to spend resorces on qualified therapists (which the ship would probably need anyways, but I’d only have one at the most).
We also kinda
sent a bunch of criminals to the planet who may have grown into a colony of super criminals by the time we get there,
so strength may be important in the future. And if the ship goes down because someone shot a hole in the hull, I’m haunting everyone. I don’t see a ship gun range as a good idea, but photos, reading, and biking are manageable hobbies. Kiran seems the best option for me especially since I don’t plan on having a large amount of people awake to be friends with.
Hold on, what the hell are your ship’s walls made out of? Paper mache? And what kind of guns are you allowing at that damn range? Plasma cutters, sonic launchers, and laser Barretts? An on-ship gun range would be perfectly fine, as long as you know how to make an actual range. I mean, damn.
I’m not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but when the lady comes to the office to investigate the death threat to Art, I got stuck in an infinite loop, telling her I came to the office, was working, confidential, she doesn’t have clearance. It ended when I asked for water.
Andy Gherkin No
Has a Son will not take him if i have to leave son behind, also has asthma wich is Questionable trait Being a Teacher may make up for it but leaving behind his kid big time no
Lain Stanley Big time No
Cybernetic Eye requires Maintenance most likely not a big issue but lowers interest slightly
Heavy Drinker= threat to Ship and others Absolutely not

Top 3 Candidates in order of Importance.
1.Kiran Capp
2.Carol Thompson
3.Reena Mandagaar
Everyone will have survivors guilt. Even single 18 year-olds have friends and loved ones. Anyone who can leave the rest of the planet to die and not feel any guilt has a serious lack of empathy. This is why having people who have strong people skills is more important. The chance of someone needing to be helped out of depression is much higher than the unprepared criminals surviving all these years to cause trouble. It only takes one depressed tech committing suicide by flying us into a star to end the whole species.
I’m curious, what type of ship did you all build? I built a hybrid ship that had both Cryogenics and Habitation modules in it.
Plumbing may not be high end important but it is applicable to many other fields
Basic electrical knowledge, some Construction, Basic Architecture knowledge.
It is actually slightly important on a ship even without gravity but mostly its more important for its general purpose knowledge and skills applying to other fields
the youthfulness and strength just add on to that. then there is lets face it…at least 20 potential years of healthy breeding time span (you start to cause health issues after about 40 in men last i looked)
all in all Kiran is just barely at the top of my own list just barely inching above Carol
Cryo is better but Habitat and cryo mix would be most useful in terms of keeping Cryo safe for most of trip
Cryogenics. Less cargo space devoted to holding food (not sure, since I didn’t have to develop food processors, etc), I also finished “research” about halfway through the demo.
Cryogenic ship here too. My main is a tech head so he’s fine with robotics taking us all the way. I’m picturing the twine game Seedship if anyone has played it. Just with a lot more people on board.
Risky? Sure, but so is every other option. I’ve seen a lot of Sci-fi. These stories either turn into horror or go full on dystopia. Either way I’m into it.
Ok in the process of playing it now tbh I was kinda put off as I thought from the genre it’d take place on an alien planet or something, not that there’s not the potential for me to like it then, but really like the format so far, kinda similar to the oval office yp. Thought I’d post my feedback so far, as although I haven’t finished playing, have a fair bit of feedback, hope you find it useful
.
Wondering why there is an option in the nation selection for England and Scotland, rather than the UK or have Wales and Northern Ireland and/or Ireland too? Not necessarily a criticism, but am curious.(btw chose England myself)
Didn’t read the about section tbh, and haven’t read about the first game, so maybe it’s just me, but found the first bit jarring how it jumps from you blacking out to the prime minister speaking, but did just jump into the game, so that could just be me.
During the meeting with the prime minister there is no option to want to try and alter the asteroid’s course, obvs get why for plot reasons, but felt that option wasn’t explored and consequently dismissed enough. I also found it weird how the military adviser talked about destroying the asteroid, only have casual/basic knowledge, but from what I’ve read altering it’s course would be a viable option, where as destroying it wouldn’t, unless futuristic nukes are more potent/advanced, but if so I feel the military adviser should elaborate on this. Not so sure about the prime minister suggesting it, as the suggestions weren’t public, and he was consulting with his advisers.
Also found a few typos and such, not sure when I’ll have chance to go through more thoroughly for them, but saw a few American references such as president and dollas, but really like the small cultural nods.
Bit dark but when discussing over the curry whether to tell the public now or not, maybe have an option to never tell them, and have any amateur astronomers or anyone else who finds out “disappear” or get a knock on their door from a man in black xd.
See that headline wouldn’t have been published if the author was “disappeared” xd, but more seriously maybe be able to use that headline to push the prime minister/leader to take a more forceful approach to suppressing the truth…Not surprisingly love the option to have Cloe taken care of , but an option to have a man in black visit her or the media outlet might be nice too. Also would the military be used? My inkling was for England it’d be more likely an MI branch would be used, CIA for the US etc. Also if you can’t tell I’m playing an super evil mc
so the repetition of being asked when we should tell the public, feels it’d be better if you could if not say to never tell the public, respond more aggressively/dismissively etc subsequent times at being asked.
Overall though really pleasantly surprised, really enjoying it so far .
Uh, if you’re talking about that one pestilent woman who wanted to reveal the astroid to the public, you can make her disappear using the military. You just have to put at least 20% of your budget into them that year, then boom, the bitch is gone, just like that.
Oh no I know that, I referenced that part too, but earlier on you read a headline something like “asteroid likely to hit Earth within 100 years” .
That was just an article stating that there is a chance, they weren’t hinting at anything. Did you read it? They don’t know jackshit about the God Rock.
Oh I know, but my mc would use it to push the leader to be more aggressive in the suppression of the truth, try and have the people who published the article “disappear” or try and make sure no one in England ever gets to read it .
But…why? It has the significance of a dead cockroach. It threatens nothing.
Well that’s just my mc, an evil probably psychopathic character, same reason they wouldn’t even consider trying to discredit Chloe. Only similar thing I can think of, is apparently in China, even films about time travel are banned, even though they clearly aren’t going to help develop time travel .
