…I hate myself. Why must this game have no save system?
Haha just kidding, thanks!

Speaking of save systems, I’m thinking of having a yearly save option. Would that be a good idea or not? With over 700 variables it would be a lot of painstaking typing to set it up. Also it would make choices easier… Alternatively, a save after major events would work. Less frequent but that’s the point… hmmm…
This. This game’s unfathomable stakes and high difficlty are the meat of what makes it so damn thrilling. I think a yearly save system would take that sense of challenge away, allowing people to video-game their way through it. I don’t want to be able to easily correct a fuck-up. I don’t believe that’s the point.
Next update it is then
Good News and bad news.
Bad: I’m not going to have my PC and internet access for 36 hours so the update might take a while.
Good news: I managed to couple my phone with a friends PC and update the startup file - everything should be buildable again now!
Psshh. It’ll be worth the wait, we’re patient!
Just, y’know, upload it before the meteor hits, yeah?
UPDATE
Yep, another one! I got access to my Laptop earlier and used my phone for an internet connection. As such I’ve just added a couple more hours work!
-Damien relationship update (year 2 - more to come)
-Year 26 update - if you don’t launch the spaceship…
-Spelling and bug corrections - those spotted by @Voldy and a couple from me.
I love the new profile pic you have, Andy. Will that be the cover art, or are you sticking to the one from before? Both are great!
It’s the same as the old one, just without the writing and a slightly different background. It does look good in a circle though!
First off, I need to get this off my chest:
“I’m surprised you chose Binny over me. She’s just a secretary.” …Is she she stupid? I thought the whole office knew about our relationship by now. I mean, Binny’s my wife, what the hell did anyone expect?
Obvious typo there.
Missing the end quotations.
There. Now I can say what I wanted.
With the bugs fixed, I was finally able to launch the Reckoning. I completely forgot it was going to switch perspectives at the end. Damn, that section there is so well written. All of it. Not only does it inspire an incredible sense of accomplishment (as I, well, pretty much saved humanity), but it also effectively sets up another adventure, and shows the player that this is not the true end. The reason this is a big deal is because, well, frankly, it didn’t feel cheap whatsoever, as most sequel set-ups do in games. I still felt rewarded, and merely looked forward to the next game, instead of wishing it didn’t end. Props to you guys for that.
Welp, that’s it. I accidentally skipped by a few other typos that I will seek and destroy later. For now, I’m going to reflect on my choices. Like that time I made a fucking robot police force.
Continuity bugs are the hardest to find. Yes, I’ll change the dialogue if married to Binny. Thanks again for bug spotting! Actually I have some good time free today so I will likely have another update out. I’m glad the perspective change worked for you! What’s written there so far is just 1 change. Depending on your type of spaceship, there will be several different story arcs that can follow. I’m looking forward to writing all of them!
I’ve got it! The sequel to Evacuation (CK62e part III) will begin with the spaceship. You will be able to continue from where you left off in Evacuation or choose your own settings for the spaceship. It would then seamlessly roll into the actual colonisation of Kepler62e. We are talking a 250k word story but with 11 sections to write, I can break it into manageable chunks. This will allow me to finish Evacuation much sooner. For scale, Evacuation is 125k-words so far. It will teach 140-150k.
UPDATE
This is a large update for year 16. If you have your robot by your side, the outcome could be very different!
-Year 16 robot choices added
-spelling and bug fixes

Expect another update today! I’m moving straight on to the achievements. There are only 3 at present - that’s just not enough.
UPDATE
Lots of changes in the past two hours.
I’ve improved the stats screen (although still more work to do there).
I’ve added achievements. There are 25 at present, 22 of which are obtainable (I still need to code the other 3).
I’ve also tidied up the scientist allocation pages and added the tech tree and descriptions there.
Word count now: 131,000
Got this after the update.
Also I noticed the ship allows you to add habitat modules and cryo modules beyond the limits stated.
That’s not good - I’ll correct it now
Edit: That’s odd - it’s passing quicktest and it’s not new code from today.
What did you do before this happened?
Edit 2: Yes, I still need to set limits for the cryo and habitation modules - one of the next 2 or 3 updates.
Edit 3: Corrected
@andymwhy Question: What’s the highest amount of people possible to have on our ship?
That’s a great question - I’m working on that right now. In year 3 you will choose what type of spaceship to build. Cryogenic only (with a minor habitation module), habitation only, or hybrid, with a mix or cryo and habitation modules.
That means there will be 3 limits for the total number of passengers - I’ll let you know when I know
In real life, I’d go for the mix. There’s no way in hell I’m letting mere machines monitor and run everything while literally everyone is asleep for a thousand years. I’ve watched too many Alien movies, you see. And the latest one, Covenant, sealed the deal for me. If just one robot on our ship looks even remotely like Micheal Fassbender, I’m blowing the whole thing up.
If you don’t develop robotics, it will have to be a skeleton crew of humans manning the spaceship… that will be a possibility!
