Quick review of Book One: I didn’t want it to end. The world-building is top-notch, the characters are all layered and mysterious and vibrant, and the romantic tension with Hadrian is just… delicious. I love that there’s an ongoing mystery with the player character and can’t wait to see how it unfolds in the future. Thank you so much for sharing this story with us
I think that it was asked on tumblr if Rafael was gay and once and Ana said he was bi. I think the straight male RO is Lance. My male MC kinda flirted with him but he didn’t look very interested.
Weird. Maybe the romance path was cut after book 1 was finished. Or maybe something happens to Vallen in book 2.
Man, lack of Vallen romance is a sad. Guess I’m going to have to wait to meet Ysabella to see if she’s someone I’d be into, or if Alessa’s the only girl for my MC.
When does it happen? While you’re playing? Because for me all app COG games crash every now and then, if I play them, don’t close the app window and open any other apps or lock my phone. Then once I switch back to the COG app- the game has restarted. If you have to reply to a message, lock the screen or do literally anything outside the COG app - close the COG app and reopen it when you want to continue playing.
Ooh wow… I freaking love this book played it 4 times… It was amazing I look forward to book 2
I love how you can make your character have their own opinion on things and how their own personality is actually seen and evident. Thank you for this amazing book.
waaait, how/when do you get to meet the pirate king? i didn’t (granted i’ve just done one playthrough)
Does anybody know the exact dialogue choice to not sell Beka out to the guards? I chose not to give them a name, but the text still seems to hint that I’ve somehow aided the guards anyways.
I believe you have to go to the harbor, then you’ll meet him once you’re exiting the building with the ship logs.
I’m really hoping nothing bad happens to her in book 2. I do love how bright and cheery she is.
Here’s a guide
That’s very odd Have you tried contacting COG? Maybe someone else has had the same problem before?
You can flirt with Vallen, and the game tracks if you’ve shown interest, but… Vallen never once flirts back. She is friendly. Eerie, some might call her, and I suppose some could even read her reactions as teasing.
She never, however, shows active romantic interest in you.
You will meet characters— minor ones as well as more important ones with whom you’ll have the option to flirt, either jokingly or not. But that doesn’t mean they are ROs because an RO is a character with a full romantic arc, and Vallen cannot be one.
She’s an important character, definitely one of the main cast. She’ll play a big role (she already has to be honest), but she can’t be an RO. It just… doesn’t work with her role in the story.
@fellglow @Gintoki_Chan Thank you so much! I’m so glad you guys enjoyed it^^
You can already meet Ysabella!
I’m working on it. Had a busy couple of days, currently at the Leaping Lion.
It’s no worry. Hells, it’s not even a spoiler. “You can meet a character called Ysabella” tells me nothing meaningful.
Oops! I thought you had read the whole game. I’m sorry for the spoiler.
I thought so too but I tried female MC and he pretty much calls you gorgeous and that you made his time much more interesting. Also I tried the COG Save Manager and with the male it didn’t matter what I picked Romance was set to a value of 0.
So I’m pretty sure:
Alessa, Hadrian, Alain and Ysabella are Bi, Neia someone already said was lesbian the Pirate King is straight, Lance didn’t react to my male MC and I didn’t have flirty options (might try female MC with him) and I remember reading that Rafael had a Boyfriend and Ana answered an ask if that meant he only liked men, and she said it didn’t, if I remember correctly ?.? So who knows
Such a satisfying read and amazing story. It is so hard to not romance Hadrian, but ooohhh Alain presses all of my buttons. Honestly, given the length and breadth of this story, those two are all I need in the RO department . Pirate king seemed interesting (I mean, he gave us a peach for crying out loud
) but I don’t even care if he’s romanceable by my lil gay heart, Hadrian and Alain will def be enough.
I love Alessa.
Also my MC is very averse to killing and doesnt even like hurting people, but anyone who tries to harm Beka will be killed. No mercy.
On another note, is there anywhere I could read like the backstory on the setting and how the world has developed differently from it did irl? I especially wanna know what led to this brutal repressive church seeming to be more ok with women in positions of power and gay people in general.
Reading my character thinking about how tired he was at 4:30 in the morning after reading all night was some serious next level immersion.
@Anathema Thank you for writing a story that I couldn’t put down, even when I knew I was going to regret it. Lol. Ps Alexandra is the best. She knows me too well.
Playthrough two down. Did a broody murderhobo in contrast to my usual sensitive scholarly type. Loved how different everything felt. Feels like I’ll get another two or so plays of this in the near future before the bug is out of me. Honestly some of my old uni history dept buds are going to get unsolicited recommendations. I think this would be right up their alley.
10 bucks says vallen was the eye.Hiding the murder machine underneath all that airheaded innocence.
