The Fernweh Saga: Book One (Discussion) [💚 Game Update, Post 1214]

I feel like I’m late to the party! Damn work for interfering with my re-union with my much loved Bee. I had yesterday off, so I was able to get in a play through by staying up late into the night. The story is sooooo good. I had so much fun! I tend to lurk in the shadows on social media, but I do stick up my head on occasion to make a comment or two. By the way, I didn’t know that the system limits your number of likes? I ran out as I was reading through all the comments on this and the HG announcement thread, hehe.

@lacunafiction Congrats on the release. What an accomplishment!! I looked back at when you posted the initial demo (June, 2021) to the date of submission (June/July 2022) and I was amazed. The book was so well thought out and developed. I enjoyed learning about all the LI options and seeing how they interacted with my MC, Daisy. The LIs had depth something that I have often found missing in traditional books and iwithn some of the other IF games. I plan to begin a JR route play through later today!

I love the Cat’s Cradle room–too many kitties, not possible. :upside_down_face: It is a little creepy how the room morphs after waking up from the nightmare. But, I still wouldn’t opt for anything else.

Bee—Sweet Honey Bee-- what can I say about you? Daisy loves your sweet, somewhat innocent disposition. Your support is unending and your care so obvious. You dropped everything to come to this dang town with her and now it looks like you are stuck there, but at least you are in Fernweh together. Daisy adores Beckett’s shyness and his loyalty. She nearly swooned when she saw the yellow rubber ducky pajamas!

I have good news for those MCs romancing Beckett @E_RedMark (are you romancing B too?) @Momora @Curious_Boy …you can get a sweet cheek kiss from him–Daisy did! It was so gentle, so sweet, such a turn on for her (Daisy melted in all the right places after that kiss, ). It was so worth the build up and the wait, but also B’s cautious hesitancy moving slowly for Daisy’s sake makes me anticipate what will come in Book 2. I think there is much more in store! The kiss is at the end as Daisy and Sweet Bee are leaving (or at least they think they are leaving) town.

I am so intrigued by many of your theories about what is actually going on in the town. I am not going to weigh in now; I want to do another play through slowly to see if I can pick up on some of the clues some of you on this thread have alluded to. Time for another start–JR watch out.

Omg—how did you get the cheek kiss from best Bee?

At the end of the game after your character has packed up their things. Choose that you have gotten closer to Becca/Beckett during your time in Fernweh. Then after you leave town you can choose to kiss her/him

edit: apparently I can’t read lol. To get the “cheek kiss”, choose the option to lean over to kiss her, then worry about ruining your friendship.

:smirk: Daisy loved that cheek kiss.

@markamadeo No, that isn’t how it works. Edit: Nvm, I just saw your edit. >.<

@Snowflower In chapter 13, it’s the choice option where you lean over to kiss Sweet Bee but worry about messing up your friendship and pause. I won’t spoil it, but Bee’s reaction is surprising and you do get the cheek kiss. I don’t want to spoil it any more! It is one of my favorite scenes with Daisy’s romance of Beckett.

I like all of them, but my heart is set on J and R.

But I do love B yes, she is so sweet with her rambling

Lol take your time to play the game and see everything (There is so much!), we aren’t going anywhere

I just had a Genius idea! :bulb:

@lacunafiction how about this for a request for book 2? Everytime B ramble, the mc get to steal a kiss! Think about it! It would save you from writing those long interruptions lines…

Granted, B will be redder than my Avatar…but she is so cuteeeeee, and that would give an opening to some CPR stuff…so as you can see, we-- I mean everyone benefit…especially B

My Sweet Bee, Daisy is looking forward Book 2 and hoping for the opportunity to see more of Beckett’s cute/sweetsexy nightwear. Maybe he has pajamas with bears on them? Or maybe cats ? Although Beckett’s devastated reaction at the end of Book 1 was crushing–Daisy hated to see him so upset. She was actually more upset about him being stuck than herself.

So…you rather get separated from B at the end? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Haha I keep teasing Reese. After all this time, I can wait for more. He will be tortured by bad puns

@E_RedMark Ergh, I can’t give your post a like right now. Does anyone know the limit or how to increase it (is this even possible?)?

I don’t know how other B romancers might feel, but Daisy would sacrifice her own happiness for him to at least have the chance to leave. Say, if only he could go out of the town while Daisy had to remain, then she would let him decide to leave or to stay. Daisy would not blame him or be mad at him; she would understand. She would definitely miss him and hope that given a choice, he would stay. I am guessing Beckett probably wouldn’t leave since he stayed by Daisy’s side during all of this. I am not sure what Daisy will be facing going forward in Fernweh, but she would obviously need Beckett’s support and loyalty. And Beckett would give her his all. As I said, I am not sure how others feel, but that is my take on it.

it’s okay lol the hearts will refill themselves. I think its 100

Knowing Becky, I personally wouldn’t wish her to leave. She is a worrier, she wouldn’t be happy, or be able to function if you stayed stuck behind. Add to that, this is a journey that may have the mc at it center, but everyone will be impacted and they will hurt, love, and cry and grow…and growth is important.

B may get scared, but it be worth it in the end…not just because of the mc, but for themself, maybe they will find something they weren’t looking for…a strength, a resolve…

I sound so preachy  but that’s how I feel.

@E_RedMark Wow 100, I guess I really liked a lot of comments this morning. :innocent: I need more!!

Daisy would not want Sweet Bee to leave either. I think she would at least need to make it a choice so that if things get worse in the future then she will not blame herself for what happens. You are so correct that the challenges that they face together might strengthen Bee as a person as well as strengthen their relationship. Daisy would hate it however if the events in the town drastically changed Bee’s personality. Bee does justifiably get scared (Daisy was terrified too), but you are probably right that it will all be worth it in the end. Not preachy at all–great analysis of the situation

@ChiggerCat
Hello! It’s great to see you again! I’ve been thinking about you (and your lovely bouquet of MCs :bouquet: :blossom: :rose: ) over the last few days. I hope you’ve been well!

Even though Marcie isn’t romancing Becca, she feels similarly about wanting to do what she can to help her leave the town. Seeing her dear friend so upset about being stuck in Fernweh at the end gives her the resolve to want to try and find a way to get her out of there, even if that means they would have to say goodbye at the end. Becca has been a true friend and nothing but supportive and strong for Marcie throughout everything, so if Marcie can do the same for her and help her break free and be safe from whatever is going on in the town, then she’ll do it in a heartbeat.

(However, Marcie’s feelings regarding herself leaving Fernweh are in complete opposition to Becca’s. Originally, she was uncertain about leaving (There are good and bad memories of the town. It’s probably best to leave for now.), but as she developed as her own person, that changed, and she doesn’t want to leave (You can see yourself living in Fernweh.)—she never wanted to leave to begin with. She is where she belongs. (But she would never force or expect Becca to feel the same way.))

@E_RedMark
Yep, I did! I’ve been wanting to change it since the beta test back in April, but held off for obvious reasons (and kept my fingers crossed that the name wouldn’t get taken in that time). :sparkling_heart: (I did leave my icon the same though so as not to completely confuse people.)

Poke You changed your username! No warning…

OMG! and here I thought it was the waitress in our midst…scary though

Some warning would’ve been nice lol I though someone stole your Avatar as well!

Just for that…you are Bambi now!

Arthur’s feelings about leaving Fernweh are actually rather close to Becca’s. After the final confrontation in the fateful trip, he’d made peace with the past, and decided to try and reconstruct the metaphorical home he lost in the fire outside of Fernweh (perhaps with Becca and Waffles in it). If he returned to Fernweh, it would be as a visitor (or as a monster-hunting ally and he’d encourage people to come visit him in his new home outside Fernweh this time—Silas, Reese and Jane in particular). He and Becca would be rather united in their desire to leave, but Arthur would kick himself for being so foolish to think they could just walk away after his grandfather’s suspicions turned out to be warranted and more than bloodsucking tree monsters might be real…he’d think Marjorie was right and that he’s only hurt Becca by bringing her to Fernweh (never mind that she chose to come and she didn’t regret coming when he asked her in the woods).

Yeah, a romance with B is the only one where my mc MAY and I insist on ‘May’ deciding to leave Town for good and look at the horizon. (If there is a Town left by the time I’m done lol…remember my prediction? It is like in buffy? Sunnydale, crater…happy me running under the Sunset away forever? Lol)

But for J and R and S? nope. (Unless again, there is no Town left lol).

I mean, can you see S leave their mom? and their B&B? No way. J’s job is there so are their families. And R can’t either. Wonder how long is Mrs. Verner Leash…

Btw @lacunafiction one thing I found odd and I wanted to ask you, but why Ms. Verner is…well a Ms= Miss. Shouldn’t she be Mrs? (she is a Widow, not divorced or anything. Unless Verner is her name? and not her husband?)

I had forgotten that final line. It’s still hilarious.

I did sometimes  tho I’d say my MC is rather indifferent around the dog.

But in a fit of mercy, I let B to adopt the mutt. Apparently, they had already developed maternal love for her…

Hey, I played an evil MC in my second playthrough. Unfortunately Waffles was not spared from Laurel’s toxicity.
