This is a bit of an odd post, but I was wondering if anyone here knows how to re-lock the achievements for CoG and HG titles. I enjoy coming back to titles I haven’t played in a while to replay them and like achievement hunting.
Edit: Figured it out. For anyone who’s a complete weirdo like me and wants to do this for some reason you must reset all stats for the game in the steam console, delete the userdata of the game in the steam directory, then restart steam.
You want to re-lock achievements? I’m not really sure why you’d want to do that, as these games let you know whenever you unlock an achievement via a pop-up in game. They happen on every playthrough. I’ve had save files for games right before unlocking an achievement and I “unlocked” it every time I progressed to that part.
Steam is another story though. I’m not sure it’s possible to re-lock their achievements, but if it is, it would be something to take up with steam support rather than here. They would probably have to reset your library somehow to remove all data relating to that game, basically making it appear as if you never played it in the first place.
If I’m being totally honest, that sounds like a lot of work for basically nothing. I don’t think anyone would willingly take on a task like that when they have a million other things they have to do.
I’d just rely on the game’s built-in achievement system. You get pop-ups every time and it’s like unlocking it all over again.
Edit: I suppose you could always just make a whole new steam account, but that means you’d likely have to buy all of the games again.
Edit 2: Actually maybe you could enable family sharing. That way you could share all of your games between the two accounts.
