I did predict a while ago that a great character moment for Titus would be if he would set aside his grudge for the sake of his daughter/“daughter”. Happy to see I was right it rendered him somewhat likeable.
I definitely had a better appreciation for Titus after that event, he might a bumbling dumbass and silly for even thinking he had good chances of surviving confronting the prefect in the case they’re not inclined to live and let live, and… wait I was supposed to praise him, you can’t fault him on his love for his family, yeah.
He really is kind of a tragic guy though and I think I’ve been too harsh on him in past messages. I’m curious about the marriage route, so he might regretfully have to be Sheer Heart Attack-ed, but in other routes I promise to spare him!
Lot of votes in 12 hours, wow. Seems as if many people prefer to play a more morally upright Prefect, and so far a male veteran skilled in warfare and driven by love is the most common type of character. Interesting.
I was planning to put a choice like that in Chapter V, but that’s a good point. I think I’ll see if I can slip it somewhere after the council scene in Chapter IV, where you can reflect on your relationship and if you no longer are driven by love for her, select a different motivation.
Not a proper romantic option such as the main five, no. But if Titus lives and stays in Kyro, you’ll have the chance to build a connection with him. If you romance Julia, the best you can hope for is a somewhat grudging co-parent, however.
You’d be surprised by how many comments I’ve gotten about Titus, in terms of how many people like him, and how many people hate him. He’s a very divisive character in the readership, it seems.
fr tho I knew I couldn’t do both. Makes sense but I still love him no matter what. Knowing I can pseudo-romance him makes it a lot harder to decide between jeopardizing the royal succession or being with Titus.
Funny question: if the prefect chooses love as a motivation and later finds out that Julia is a very cruel person, the prefect would be like, “Wow, what did I get myself into?” The prefect still loves Julia but does not want to support a cruel person, so why not change that motivation to the true queen, Augusta? Yeah, I know, silly question. Ha ha.
(Honestly, I just want to know if it was possible to have Augusta as a motivation)
I’ll be real, sorry greedsters, you do you I don’t judge, but I think this is justified by the fact Greed is a deeply boring motivation to do anything.
I feel like it may be more fun in this game in particular, because it’s a solid foundation for MC to get in bed with Ceto before the events of the game, so to speak. That it may eventually clash with her apparent idealism only makes it funnier.
Yeah that’s true, I guess it can be more interesting when it’s played on with that kind of development. But in itself I genuinely believe there’s nothing more base and matter-of-course for an official to be motivated by than greed.
You could stumble on greedy little state gremlins every few seconds without even looking for them.
As @bl00dragon says, you can find greedy guys and gals at every street corner, so having the MC be defined by this trait would render them… average? So not particularly interesting, in my humble opinion. But selfless/ dutiful/ idealistic guys and gals are a rarer kind. And I for one like playing my MCs as if they are a cut above the rest. I want my fantasy MC to be fantastic, basically.
Now that’s actually a funny scenario. One would believe Ceto to be someone who’s after power and money at first glance. And whoopsie daisy, it turns out it was the Prefect all along! From an outsider’s perspective it would be a good twist.
That’s correct. If you change your motivation from Love towards Julia, you may change it to another (Duty, Idealism, Greed, Power, Knowledge), or you may change it to a parental form of love to Augusta (either as her parental figure or actual parent). I’ll implement this in Dashingdon when I get the chance.
You will have the opportunity to change your motivation for other types of MCs at the end of Act I where you may, for example choose a different motivation due to how you might wish for your character to develop, or as Love towards another RO after you lock their romance, or also as a parental figure to Augusta.
(since my Prefect started with having 0 relationship with Augusta and viewing her as mostly an useful tool, it’d potentially make for fun character arc to switch the motivation to genuine care for their little charge as time went on)
