You can be frustrated by the matriarchy and want to change it yes, but outright global woman hating isn’t an option.
Understandable ig. I’m liking playing as one of those evil scheming villain sleazeballs lol.
@Azan A little detail I’ve noticed: The cacophony would be more pleased with the MC negotiating behind Julia’s back than to try convincing her beforehand. Is this an intentional design, and what does this say of its character?
Also, how are things going behind the scene?
That’s intentional, yes. As to what it say about this character, I invite the reader to consider that for themselves.
My March has been admittedly a lot busier than I thought it’d be, but I’m chipping away at Chapter VI when I can.
I have a problem I tried the game for the first time 2 week ago and now I can’t stop replaying almost everyday please call HELP !!!
More seriously I love the game as a great fan of political game I really liked everything more notably than there is no character really evil or good just real people with different motivation ( also as a man I found really interesting to play in a matriarcal society )
Also if I would suggest that when you interrogate Corvina and promise her a quick death to add a rethoric test when you try to lie to her rather than just a subterfuge test
After all you can lie at other time to other people with a high rethoric stats like when you lie to Leta about your daughter
Thank you, I appreciate it! I tried to ensure that all the characters felt human at least.
That’s likely a mistake on my part, Rhetoric aids in oratory, purely social encounters and general charisma, but shouldn’t be applied to deception and omission of truth as much. I’ll correct that.
Just finished chapter V…and this game is so, SO GOOD. The setting is interesting, the plot is fascinating, and the characters feel real and important enough. The pacing is so great as well: an aspect not mentioned so much, but I appreciate a lot a WIP that gets this done.
It’s been some time since I played such a detailed and well done WIP. I CAN’T WAIT FOR CHAPTER VI!!!
At various points the MC talks about choosing sides or trying to reconcile the barbarians and the Senate, but I always end up becoming enemies with one of them. So my question is whether it’s possible to make them reconcile or if it’s at least possible for us to not become enemies with either of them?
100 times this. I never felt that the chapters were rushed or too much dwelt upon. They are succinct and detailed at the same time.
One of them will always join your enemies. However, depending on how you treated them before this it may be easier to convince them to come to peaceful terms with you later
It may be possible to eventually reconcile the warring factions, if that is the MC’s wish, depending on choices made. If you balanced the factions’ interests there will be some dialogue to that extent at the end of Chapter V. However, all compromise comes with cost.
Hey @Azan i was wondering how is the fashion in the Empire looking like right now ?
Now given the Late Roman vibes of the game,I was visualizing early medieval tunics, gowns and leggings but wanted to know your vision for it.
The tunic is the staple of Iudian dress, yes, however the toga still reigns supreme as the symbol of jealously guarded matrician power and prestige, harkening back to the traditions of Kyro and its well-to-do. It’s normally highly frowned upon for most plebeians to wear it, the F!Prefect is an outlier due to her office. Conversely, Ceto refuses to wear one despite holding both wealth and high public office. To wear the toga as a Iudian woman is to showcase a powerful status symbol.
As for other elements of fashion, trousers are seen as a Gruthungian barbarity, and for a Iudian to wear a pair would be a scandal in the capital. I remember earlier saying that a short trouser was an element of Iudian’s fashion and I’ll take the opportunity to retcon that given more thought.
For Iudian men, personal grooming is highly important to maintain their status, especially amongst matrician men who are more tightly bound by familial and class-based expectation. Some attempt to imitate women in garb and appearance in order to assert some measure of social power. Beards are seen as the province of barbarians, bondsmen and common soldiers, so higher class men are expected to shave.
Hey all, I hope you’ve had an excellent April so far! As the days churn on, we grow closer and closer to the anniversary of the first chapter of Shattered Eagle on April 14th. I’d just like to say that I’m astounded by the amazing feedback and support I’ve gotten on the forums and elsewhere over the past year. Your contributions have helped shape Shattered Eagle into a better and more enjoyable interactive novel. Thank you!
I’ve also wanted to commemorate the anniversary with an upload, and while my original intention was to have an update done sooner after February’s in time for it, Chapter VI is still only halfway done. March and April have proven to be more burdensome on my schedule than I initially anticipated, unfortunately.
I’ve given it some thought and considering that the last update broke the ice on “non-Chapter updates,” how would you all feel about receiving the first third of Chapter VI first? It’s 20k words without code and more easily isolable from the chapter narrative. That’s about all I can divulge without spoiling the content.
However, I’m not certain as to whether such an update would independently flow as well as an undivided Chapter VI. Of course, in a month or two that distinction won’t matter as it’ll all be the same, but there’s a reason why I have done chapter uploads rather than scene uploads before.
I’d just like to pick y’alls brains while I think this through. I appreciate your input!
- Yes, I would like the first third uploaded on April 14th.
- No, I would like the full chapter uploaded only when it’s finished.
i really like the Nova concept in this game, to the point it also has massive impact to Augusta storyline. something what makes this game really unique, i feel like if people don’t try Nova storyline they missing a lot.
Why,I think booty shorts are perfect legwear for the genre
found this wip a bit late i think or i was skepticel about it becouse i am not a huge fan of a lot stats in wips but i am glad i gave it in the end still a try and was not dispointed keep up the good work you found a new fan^^ (3 playtroughs already done^^)
Well, that seems like a fairly overwhelming majority in favor of releasing any elements of the chapter only as a completed product. I’ll do my best to get it to you all as soon as I am able to!
Also, I had to edit the demo link due to a change in COG Demos, so just be advised of that.

I love the battle scenes in this demo. The effect of the Holy Fire and Hadat calvary made it very intense and uncertain, I must admit that there was a rush of adrenaline from leading the charge to meet Aite. It’s also nice that you have a lot of options on how to raise Augusta, I’m eager to see what a benevolent rulership might bring to Iudia. The ride towards Vestarr feels a little bit like a fairytale but it was nice meeting a whole new set of characters from Gruthungia other than the kings. All-in-all, the early-to-mid story flows nicely between tense politicking, empire management, and lore/character building. I can’t wait to see how it’ll turn out. Good luck writing! May it reach its satisfying end!
