We are going to war?

No. I’m not planning on writing a war story. (Perhaps it might happen in some branch of the story, idk?) This is a clue, not a marching order.

My MC to Redgrave

I spy My Fair Lady!

Not sure if anyone else had these thoughts in the background while playing through the new stuff that was just added to the public portions of the demo, but I do have some comments to make about that List-maker.

Among other things.

How the MC responds to their placement on the list is a little too ‘in favor’ of marriage as a goal flavor wise. See, the reputation of the MC won’t matter so much at all to MC’s who despise the idea of an “accepted” match, especially if they set something else as their goal. In many respects, being placed so low (26th for mine) does my MC some huge favors in keeping the unwanted attentions of fair ladies, and their mothers, far away from him since he can only feel attraction toward other men.

So all the “I’m so upset!” and “Oh, who does that old hag think she’s kidding?!” and “This is bad! I need to bribe her with a show of my skills, and/or manners!” doesn’t really apply to my MC. He’s grateful to the horrid, judgy old witch. At least in a way.

The choice to ignore her at the beginning of the garden party, for example, results in too much ‘panic’ in the MC’s thoughts as a consequence for the choice, despite my own interpretation of it literally being a silent declaration that he will not cow to her in the name of a higher placement. He doesn’t want that.

It’s also worth noting that the real business-minded folk of the merchant class would actually be impressed by his rejection of the stilted norms of high society social scramble. Sure, a good reputation helps with gaining the capital part of a business, but he already does not want to be beholden to their restrictions in the matters of love, or duty, so why also bend to them for funding?

This being said, you did better than you might think, and it was well worth the wait. Any additional variations are always possible to add at a later date, and we can always help any time there’s a slip in consistency with variable tracking.

I knew choosing to shoot to kill when given the option a long time ago was the right choice for him in my first play even though it ended my game! :joy:

Feel like the character was too calm about the whole face in the mud ordeal+mandhandle’d and he got away with it. (Moved too good for someone who had been shot, how long ago would the duel have been?)

(Immediately came to mind of the Fallen Hero Hector scene where once we were let go we could punch em in the face immediately.)

Although my character is a lady the move em by force section worked out well enough! (Possibly because cheat mode)

.

.

Boat racing introduction section, “you have an eye for handsome companions” unsure if “handsome” is your/the general purpose line there or if the coding gave me the other gender one

.

I think the height choice in the beginning goes something like average/tall/very tall?
I think i chose tall but maybe 1 section in ch3 somewhere it seemed like i was super tall, if i find it again later on ill show ya where?
.

Chose being an artist as one of those selections in the beginning, was there any part since having that had extra/different lines or dialogue involving Esther Oh i see, there is a location selection that reads like it is for an artist.
As well as when talking to her you have to choose the one that mentions you are an artist for artist dialogue! (I chose the other one on the first play which is why i missed out on it and had to go back to that section again to see the artist dialogue in the other choice)

.

There was ALOT more ch3 content than i thought there would be: that was glad could choose to not do with certain characters/scenes.

.

Was not expecting that hint of chamber maid scene this early at all

.

Snippets/remark i found enjoyable-amusing:

live hedgehog, dragon on a hoard, something along the lines of: cant try and duel me every tuesday?

Thanks. It was normal in the Regency era to call men and women handsome.

And Levi wasn’t injured badly. He’s used to being wounded!

The Kessler shoe-tying scene was fantastic. And the plot thickens, with Redgrave and our elder brother!

I actually only added the ankle scene to the public version, I forgot how illicit female ankles were when writing the first Patreon one! And thank you.

Quick question regarding Lady Blackwoods list at the beginning of the chapter. Will we always be ranked last, or am I just really bad at this game lol

I love Lindon it’s literally him;

Haha, I was asked this on Discord too. Everyone is ranked 26th. Lady Blackwood doesn’t like you for whatever reason. She’s never even seen you, so for her to rank you so low sight unseen is not fair (and no-one thinks it is)! But you can try to change that later or… not care.

@Sel_Lee You’re not the first to say so, but I haven’t read the Scarlet Pimpernell. I still want to.

Hi! I don’t know if this is a bug or intentional, but my MC is a woman who is attracted to her own gender, but the story here doesn’t allow her to respond romantically to Nell’s advances.

Also, when I meet Esther, the text doesn’t let me choose the option to remember that after the game, we sat next to each other and our fingers touched, even though that’s what happened.

The Nell thing is probably because you didn’t choose to be a rake in the Prologue. Only rakes have the sleeping around options (the footman at the archery is another one.)

But the Esther one is weird, I’ll take a look at it! Edit: I did in fact not flag the handholding :face_with_peeking_eye: . Sorry everyone, I’ve already fixed it in my code but I’ll only upload the change when I do other fixes soon.

Btw Happy Valentines day :heart_with_ribbon: everyone!

Oh, I really didn’t choose it because I thought (because she has to suppress her attraction to women) that the act would have been with a man. Thank you!

Nope, you can be a rake only with women too, just don’t get caught! I think it’s better spelled out in the cheating route, I’ll update the financial route sometime soon so that there are more and broader options. (There may be some drawbacks to playing as a rake later. Right now there are none that are obvious though so go for it.)

Yes, I do play the financial route, but can you blame me for that? Ever since I read that my father lost the family fortune on a BEETLE race:grin:, I knew I wanted to play this route.

:joy: I am a secret beetle route aficionado too. But I have neglected the prologue a bit (it does need some more options - case in point.) I’ll get it up to snuff!
