Thanks to those who’ve checked out One Knight WIki so far. If you have, I’d edited light mode (visibility) and added about 1000 words of content (minor updates).

Here’s what I wanted to say; I’m still a bit sick, so if it sounds odd, sorry about that.

The initial site includes about 56,000 words you guys can access. I recommend to check out the Guide to Footnote References first as I’ve added the ability for you to fact check me using the game’s (work-in-progress) code.

The site is a compilation of One Knight Stand information, resources, brief chapter summaries, game tips and helps, geographical information (we are on a road trip), speculations!, and a massive work-in-progess construction of Arthurian legends and world as is canonical to the One Knight Stand game.

The site isn’t purely objective with its tone, as a small nod to the game and how whacky Arthurian legends can be. And I’m not sure how I as one person would stay interested!

The site is flooded with several nods to the game, such as the thematic number, reds and blues (silvers and golds), a night version banner of the cityscape similar to the Tumblr Development Blog, a medieval theme when referring to the past as the game changes its writing style for the past, and more things I’m forgetting.

While I’ve made the website, I’ve loved seeing how the community has come together with their resources and theories. The site is always open for feedback, your additions, etc.

I’ll keep updating the site throughout the year.

And here is the preview for the first part of the Museum Heist (the normal part), which is now available in the Alpha Build on Patreon.

Behold all the potential weapons for the main weapon the MC uses throughout the first game. These include Arthurian lore accurate (i.e., the weapons that can actually be the MC’s Ultimate Weapon in the series), historically accurate for fifth-century Britannia, plus others that were requested by players.

These are also actual specific weapons that exist in the real world that the group will be stealing borrowing using from this point forwards.

Once the Public Beta has updated, I should have a poll up for whether this section should be broken down into five subfolders depending on the weapon’s fighting style (which should make the page look neater but would also require a lot more back and forth clicking for any players who want to read the descriptions of several different weapons).

Talk about bugs, at the end of the chapter2-3.txt, all the internet_presence gained from mc customization options were calculated again. Not sure if this is intentional, but wouldn’t this set internet_presence higher or lower than it normally should in some cases? (like when only one between internet addiction / amnesia background / crime hobby was chosen, internet_presence would end up becoming 4 or 0 instead of 3 or 1?)

Thanks! The code from Chapter2-3 was temporary for anyone who didn’t play through the start of the game again since I tweaked internet_presence in Chapter1 (and internet_presence needed to be calculated for entering the Free Time Hub).

I think it should be safe to remove it now*, so that will be part of the next update/is part of the current Alpha update.

*I actually should’ve probably removed it a few updates ago, but I forgor…

That’s pretty much the amber option for eyes. All the eye colors are those that are normally possible for humans (as rare as some of them might be, like red and violet).

The Changeling MC will have to wait until the Veil falls before they can start going all anime-colored.

Adrian is Mordred pretending to be Lancelot! theory

Walk with me through this little thesis as I examine why Mordred!Adrian and Lancelot!Adrian have been top theory contenders for years, explain why Adrian would and could try to lie to the Player about his reincarnation and why in the end Mordred fits him better.

*do not fear all the footnotes those are mostly so I don’t confuse myself on the way

Why both Mordred!Adrian and Lancelot!Adrian theories work:

• Adrian’s extreme self-loathing that even verges into self-sabotage at times ^{[1] [2]} and conviction that even high-affinity MCs’ opinion about him will change after his reincarnation is revealed ^{[3] [4]} implies he did something terrible in his past life which very much fits the two most famous dumbasses that brought about the fall of Camelot (Mordred directly by rebelling and killing Arthur and Lancelot indirectly by killing like 7 members of the Round Table and sowing general chaos among the members, Guenevere affair included).

• Adrian distrusts clairvoyants ^[5] which could stem from his bitterness of having his past life defined by a prophecy. Mordred is often foretold to be the one to kill Arthur (reason for May Day Massacre) and Lancelot to betray Arthur by having an affair with Guenevere. If Fate dictates that Camelot has to fall so Apocalypse can be averted then both Mordred and Lancelot might have had little say in their actions and as such resent the remainders of it.
  — If we consider the clairvoyant’s curse ^[6] an easy way to ensure their ‘cooperation’ could be to saddle Lancelot/Mordred with the ability to see the future ^[7] basicially ensuring a self-fulfilling prophecy on their part and if clairvoyance is ‘hereditary’ in reincarnations that could explain why Adrian seems to have anticipated the Apocalypse and prepared for it or perhaps clairvoyance can reach even 16-ish centuries into the future^[8].

• Adrian’s aversion to romance ^[9][10] could be connected to his past incarnation:
  –If you consider Lancelot killing all the people in defense of Guinevere to be a manifestation of Wrath vice and Adrian kicking the vending machine to be the same, it would explain his hestitaion to become involved with anybody because last time he lowkey went yandere and ruined the work environment for everybody ^[11]. Also Lancelot was kidnapped by Morgana and other ladies + got tricked into siring Galahad so maybe he’s still a little traumatized by it.
  – With Mordred somebody mentioned possible romantic doom and if you consider how Arthur, Morgause and his brothers all died terribly perhaps there is some sort of curse that makes all the people Mordred loves fated to die. Maybe it’s all Fate^[12] nudging him to do evil. Maybe it’s plain bad luck, but he’s convinced otherwise. Considering how in some versions of the lore Mordred’s love interest is his father’s wife and in OKS he’s betrothed to her evil twin sister^[13] his past dating history is still sub-optimal.
  – Perhaps it’s an Adrian’s Exlusive where his self-esteem issues tell him he doesn’t deserve to achieve happiness and receive love considering the sins of his past.

Additional reasoning that for the longest time made me convinced he’s Lancelot:

• Adrian’s name etymology quite bluntly points to his possible connection to Lancelot.:
  

  

• Water motif - name, pokemon ask, Patreon content ^[14]

• Personality - chivalorous nature^[15], confusing behavior^[16], over the top dramatics^[17], faith and unaliving tendencies ^[18] (smb tell me what the rules on this forum are pls), fragile mental stability, can you see the Lancelot??

Mordred!Adrian reasoning:

• Adrian’s favoritism towards Percy and Cuckoo!MC^[19] would make sense if we consider that Mordred trained both Galahad and Percival ^[20]. Being attached to your young students/squires is hardly surprising.

• Adrian’s weapon in the first game is a bastard sword^[21]. Mordred is Arthur’s bastard son. Foreshadowing. Nuff said.

• We know Gareth thought he came in contact with Gawain in Cape Town and we also know Adrian was in the area durning the Second Circle fiasco^[22][23]. We don’t know how involved he was with the whole thing^[24], but Mordred could sensibly impersonate his brother AND since ‘family’ was involved it would make sense why Adrian is so sore about Merlin ^[25] and Second Circle. Why would he impersonate Gawain and not get directly involved? Check ‘but what’s the motivation’ below. Mordred may just stink that bad.

  Now I looked it up and most often Bara Brith is made with raisins and the like, HOWEVER it also seems like there are many many twists to it and I did find a version with whole roasted apples in it. Yes this is the whole reason why I typed all of this up yes I feel a little insane.

• Considering the water motif (Lancelot!Adrian reasoning upwards): in quite a few retellings even though Mordred doesn’t directly collaborate with the Lady of The Lake he still often benefits from her actions (namely her stealing Excalibur’s scabbard/other plotting that invited chaos to Arthur’s reign undermined his quality as king even if by accident). And even if we assume the Lady doesn’t have secret agenda isn’t gifting Excalibur basically a form of alliance with the Pendragons? Perhaps the water motif is simply the nod to that (and Lancelot!Adrian bait cough).

• → Crazy theory bear with me: Adrian says his mother was a landspace gardener
  ^[27] and that best way to avoid getting caught in a lie is to keep it as close to the truth as possible ^[28] and he’s implied to have already awakened his memories of Camelot ^[29]AND all MC’s hobbies are here for a reason AND Morgause is theorized to be one of the possible Camelot!MCs, so. what if. WHAT IF… Mordred!Adrian and Morgause!MC^[30].

Now plausible deniability aside. Let us twist this all on it’s head and consider the following: Adrian is lying to us. Whatever it be the Main Character of the game or the Player itself. Why? Well first of all, he can:

• His name is fake ^{[31] [32]} and he’s a two faced liar ^{[33][34] [35][36]} and those are two most obvious pointers to his identity. Well, etymology and personality mean nothing if they are things he can control and warp for his benefit.

And second, we know he does lie to us we just don’t know the extend of it (OKS’ intro post):

But what’s the motivation?

Well considering the majority of the first game is a round of Among Us being so much as suspected of being the Traitor Prince puts you at a big disadvantage:

• if you’re an enemy you get constantly watched and doubted, possibly left in the dark, tested, maybe even attacked, bad for sabotage and longevity
• if you’re an ally you just needlessly introduced chaos and mistrust to the group that should be united and working together, anything you say in good faith can be twisted against you, how much weight do your words actually carry?
  – even if you don’t consider the Among Us angle a lot of Mordred portrayals are stinky, nobody likes him, whatever crime and debauchery you might think of he probably did it twice and more, vibes are horrid all around, people boo him on sight

Additionally Among Us game only lasts for few weeks in game, so you don’t have to do the perfect impression of Lancelot you just need that little, tiny bit of possibility of maybe being him to do your thing. I assume Adrian has some agenda that he wants to achieve in that short period of that and after that it’s yolo. Whatever it be protecting squishy MC, completing/sabotaging the Third Circle or killing Merlin in their sleep. Who knows.

Lancelot of all people?
They share a few similarities that make them identifiable:

• Big whoopsie that upset all of Camelot
• Black incognito armor
• Guenevere affair (depends)
• Close confidant of Arthur that ends up betraying him
  +close proximity as Knights of The Round Table probably made it easy to learn Lancelot mannerism and even if there are disparencies you can blame it on reincarnation.
  +hasn’t appeared as a reincarnation yet as far as we know
  If people take what you gave them and arrive at wrong conclusions did you really lie thooo?

*yes it could simply be Author-san trying to confuse us, but I have faith in my malewife’s ability to duck up his own life

So, is Adrian the Saboteur?

I stand with my cancelled husband.

Alright:

• Merlin categorizes Mordred as Neutral in Merllin’s Guide ^[37] so they believe he can join either side? As biased as Merlin can be I don’t think they’d ever put the Circle at risk for Mordred. If it was let’s say Ninianne? Sure. But Mordred?
• I think he could possibly betray MC based on a route this and the replies so not the SaboteurTM and possibly all ROs can betray you if you duck up enough, so inconclusive.
• If we assume the Rival Circle send the saboteur would it really be a good idea to send Mordred? You could argue he has plenty of experience in that field, but wouldn’t his allies worry he’d betray them too? He seems a bit like a double-edged sword.
• No fr we should totes trust Mordred cmon

But whatever he may’ve done in the end, it can’t be forgotten that he was a loyal and legendary knight for decades before his treachery.
    And it’s rather interesting that while so many people rebelled or otherwise fought against Arthur throughout the years, only Mordred is marked by the name of ‘traitor’. Perhaps because he was the only one who was successful?

Look at you with the receipts (I love footnotes, never stop), it’s lovely! I agree Lancelot and Mordred (and, just for me, Agravain) are top contenders for Adrian at the moment. Adrian has already been shown to betray your wants if he thinks his rationalization is the best option.

I’m not quite so sure Adrian is the saboteur seeing as he’s the only RO we’ve explored over one chapter, so I’ll hold my breath for any saboteur theories. He’s seems to be a rather patient saboteur imposter if he is one.

Summary

I’m not quite so sure, but I do believe Adrian mentions an about “she” in his interlude, that this she expects for him to lose all of his friends/bonds. If we connect that to NoticeMeSenpai’s Sebile/Adrian/Lancelot theory (which is a nice reference to the Call Sebile for a good time scrawling on the bathroom during the Fencing Route), Adrian mentions how his mother likes nature and tea parties.

(Although, I’ll have to confirm if that’s in-game during the botany route or if I’m making this up.)

I also may be leaping in logic here; I think Adrian’s first love drabble is a drabble about us. And I’m not sure if it said AU as usual on Tumblr. Which could be another hint that Adrian will always be crushing on us.

His crush could explain his protectiveness somewhat? But it’s implied that Adrian wouldn’t be in the same city as the MC if the MC never existed; ergo, Adrian must (think that he has or) have a connection to you, and that connection is enough to warrant his concern and romantic feelings towards you.

I’m not quite so sure, but I do believe Adrian mentions an about “she” in his interlude, that this she expects for him to lose all of his friends/bonds. If we connect that to NoticeMeSenpai’s Sebile/Adrian/Lancelot theory (which is a nice reference to the Call Sebile for a good time scrawling on the bathroom during the Fencing Route), Adrian mentions how his mother likes nature and tea parties.

First, I want to say I am usually hesitant in getting too attached to WIPs, but I have fallen in love with this game and look forward to seeing its progress! Knowing that the author has been around since Choice of Dragons too explains a lot of the deep customization, memorable choices, and unique presentation with the sounds and zalgo text. Just had to say, I have been feeling like Adrian is Dagonet. With all the references, we have to see Dagonet reincarnated somewhere, either as MC or someone else. He is known for having a bad temper (e.g. Adrian’s rage at the vending machine). And it seems Dagonet has run around in Mordred’s armor and impersonated Lancelot before. Just not sure what the MC’s previous bond would be with Dagonet.

Here’s an interesting thing: whenever I put in my name (Anna) at the start of a playthrough, it tells me that an Arthurian character is named that and they may show up and cause confusion. I was curious, so went through all of the information Merlin gave us at the apartment. And not a single Anna was found.

Now, I haven’t played the game recently and I’ve missed at least one update. So this could have changed. But this does make me curious. Who is Anna? Why wasn’t she in the codex thing? Was that a mistake, or is her mysterious absence a sign that she’ll be important?

Once the game is ready for publication, I’ll probably go through and tweak that horrifying naming gosub routine, maybe let some of the more obscure Arthurian names (that only get a mention or so in the game) be available again. Also, I know I probably made some mistakes about who ended up where in that code.

I have a minor comment (…it began very small, I swear). I don’t often make these, so please let me know if this is phrased poorly.

As I was making notes, I was wondering how important are ages and birthdays in One Knight Stand?

The 2000 Circle and 2020 Circle members were 15 because Arthur was 15 when he pulled Caliburn from the stone (or, prophecies often occur when people are 15?). The 2030 Circle members are 25 because they… could have stopped the Apocalypse in 2020, but now things are delayed by 10 years. (I may be incorrect here.)

Am I misunderstanding this? Here’s a summary of my notes:

• 7 Harbingers are needed to form a Lesser Circle. 13 are needed to open a hole to Avalon. Hopefully the energy released wakes up Arthur.
• The one casting the Circle can apparently be of the Circle (see Merlin).
• At least 5 Harbingers were born in 2005 to help out in 2020. Merlin not being born in 2005. One is the traitor, an enemy of Camelot, who was born in 2005. All apparent humans are 15. Assuming there are six as there were six teenage bodies found after the Lesser Circle sabotage.
• The Midnight Mauler exists to kill off many unawakened Harbingers. Especially along the West Coast.
• The 2000 Circle had at least 12/13 or so (assuming Galahad is or isn’t helping cast the Circle) Harbingers who were specifically reborn to awaken Arthur. This should have happened but for XYZ, Arthur is sleeping.
• It’s not currently clear if there are reincarnated Harbingers from well before 2000 who just aged past 15 by the year 2020.
• Therefore it’s possible that, in 2005, there are several Harbingers born. Possibly far outnumbering the original 12/13 in 2000. There’s enough born to necessitate a hellhound, at least.

When you factor in birthdays into the timeline, I’m not sure if the Circle members are 24 going on 25, or 25 going on 26. Especially as the story progresses over the course of a year.

Perhaps this is an intentional oversight if the twist is that many are lying about their ages.

• As the game starts 31/3, it’s been about two weeks since Adrian’s birthday. There is no in-game mention of this. I can see this as the MC’s relationship is heavily variable, but no mentions from any of the other club members? Since they could only see him once a week. Not to mention, there is no mention of MC giving Adrian a birthday gift. Which makes me wonder if the MC knows Adrian’s birthday at all. (I don’t think Adrian would even like celebrating.)
• Percy’s birthday is also during Chapter 2. I haven’t seen a mention about this (I’ve not investigated as much for the current chapters at this point). Obviously, I’m not sure if I’d want two strangers and a demon to know my birthday, but seeing this post got me thinking.
• When the 2030 Circle members are all gathered, I’m assuming they are going to say they are 25. If age even gets mentioned.
• It also made me curious if this is why the MC doesn’t get their own birthday (aside from the fact the author mentioned not wanting to track even more variables for the MC). If the MC is stated to be 25, their birthday must be from January to March. Tracking probably wouldn’t really matter until a final book, to which I think birthdays are a last priority here.
• I wonder if the current lack of emphasis on birthday dates and ages are such that almost all are lying about their ages. Or, in other words, age doesn’t really matter, it’s all a neat little facade our Circle members are engaging in. Who knows?

The harbingers were reincarnated (by Limbo) in batches, such that they would all be 15 when it was time to cast the Circles. (15 being the “age of majority” in Camelot times, and the age at which Arthur pulled the sword from the stone)

So, all of the Harbingers who participated in the 2000 Circle were born in the year 1985.
All of the Harbingers who participated in the 2020 Circle were born in the year 2005.

As you already surmised, it is likely that in 1985, only 12/13 Harbingers were reincarnated, and they were personages from Camelot specifically chosen to work together to end the apocalypse.

When that failed, in 2005, Limbo started reincarnating everybody/anybody with a tangential relation to Camelot, including Camelot’s enemies. It seems that Merlin was not prepared for this possibility and thus was not expecting The 2020 Saboteur.

Merlin appears to have landed in Africa when they escaped from their Otherworld prison, and since they were in a rush to cast the Lesser Circle, they focused on finding Harbingers on that continent rather than traveling to different continents. However, there were other Harbingers on other continents at the time (including MC, who was presumably in North America)

Personally, I think Beelzebub sending demons to hunt down and kill Harbingers is a more recent development. If a bunch of teens started dying mysteriously around the world in 2020, I’d think it would make the news, right? …well, after the pandemics started, perhaps not…

You’ve summarized what I know in such clear language! Even the first chapter states that the Midnight Mauler cases are fairly new (can’t be more than half a year max).

As to what you’re saying, is it completely true for Harbingers to only be reborn for select events in batches? Did Limbo cling onto hundreds of Camelot souls to reincarnate 12/13 in 2000? Then in huge amounts in 2005? So that would mean not very many Camelot allies lived another life before being thrust upon stopping the Apocalypse. (Rather fitting souls from a doomed era returned to avert a doomed era.)

If I were Merlin, I’d gather up the Harbingers in pairs, keep them safe in a protected place, until I easily have enough to make the Greater Circle with saboteurs included. Or, I guess I’d round up as many as I can, as fast possible! Harbinger Pokémon style.

I forget where I read this, but I recall it being mentioned that the Camelot reincarnations should all be first-time reincarnations (so yes, they have not had any lives between their Camelot one and their present day one). Maybe being reincarnated too many times and having too many lives would somehow affect their ability to fight the apocalypse?

I will see if I can hunt down where I read this.

Everyone is reincarnating, they just don’t remember it. That’s the natural cycle for everyone in the mortal realm as mentioned by Merlin during their lore dump.

Alexander the Great and Leonidas could’ve already reincarnated several times at this point, could have a current reincarnation wandering around right now, heck the MC or some of the other Harbingers could be their reincarnations. The souls who were wandering through the apocalyptic dress rehearsal that was Camelot ended up there for a reason… and that reason probably wasn’t because they’d been living perfectly normal mundane lives in their previous incarnations.

However, no one would ever know it. The difference with Camelot is that the Harbingers can regain their memories/powers/skills from their previous (should be Camelot) incarnations. But that’s it. No memories from any other earlier incarnations besides that.

Don’t want to drive them insane, after all.

The Harbingers aren’t supposed to have any incarnations in-between their Camelot one and their modern day one as that would mess up the inheritance of their memories & suped-up Camelot powers & such.
