They’re is some snakes that can pretend to be dead as a defense mechanism such as Eastern hog-nosed snakes or Dice snakes, they can go as far playing dead by twitching and writhing, soiling themselves with musk and feces, then fall limp with their mouths open and tongues dangling.

Obviously the detective MC needs to use their charisma to seduce the culprit into surrendering. Otherwise, you can slightly buff stats (amongst a bevy of other things) in the Free Time Hub (with and without the help of the ROs who specialize in that, although you’re always going to need Merlin to buff magic) which will be the next update, although the backgrounds are still the largest source of stats boosts. The Intelligence/Perception RO hasn’t shown up yet, so you’ll have to do that solo in Chapter 2-4.
I just added an extra line of blustering for the (merlin_denial) MC in that flavor text (in my version of the game, so should be part of the next update)
The one word foreign word cursing replacements are basically meant to be the equivalent of shit! or fuck! or hell! or fucking or shitty etc (depending upon which flavor text got triggered), so I’m depending upon the internet having been correct regarding whatever it’s supposed to be replacing. Looking at that particular sentence it’s replacing a mild “oh hell!” sentiment.

Also, for anyone else wondering, all MCs are going to start with a base level of Corruption since their apartment became a literal bridge to Hell.
If it gets requested enough, I will. I just don’t want people to assume that the RV stuff will be major things they can use to do things with (like with their personal inventory items) rather than a background element exerting some influence on the plot.
(Ie made-up example here, like having the shower mat means no one falls and hurts themself in Chapter 5 in the bathroom, but you won’t be able to try and bludgeon a demon to death with the mat or anything).

If Merlin could do that, there’d be no need to show them the demon mark. I won’t go into Merlin’s powers too deeply for spoiler reasons, but basically think LOUD THOUGHTS (at least when they’re not directly feeding on someone).

This does branch a lot (just the scene where you’re watching the outcome of the apartment fire on the TV has so many variations!) but a non-negligible amount is all the new text messages and such in the phone file (which is all stuff that you have to specifically trigger to receive too).
At least we know some people in this thread are getting messages from the cops.

I wonder if, in the coming free time segment, we will have a chance to go shopping and/or mail out any pearls of protection we wish to dispense (Maia and Lili would get two (one each) from my main MC, as does Apple, Ed, and Zain (if we know the club members’ mailing addresses))–assuming they work as advertised. Of course if we use any electronic payment, that’s very likely tipping the demons off that we aren’t dead in the fire. It’s for us to decide if shopping is worth it.

Been really enjoying the wip. I struggled a bit in the part where we need to stop people from approaching Merlin but i’m able to do it in my second run. I love that there’s a lot of customization in the game and a lot of references to other media!!
