NATION: country simulator wip

And fwiw, @zane, I would also assume that “rose” means pink when you’re describing a color. @FairyGodfeather’s alternative suggestions for deep red are all good ones.

well if he is talking about that constitution my humble apologies that constitution is clearly that in Spain is denominated organic constitution basically a fake democracy there is elections and two great parties emulating old british system but the vote hardly limited is guaranty one time each party in Spain that was called coffee for all. The soberany was in monarch with Cortes our chambers in that time the aristocratic and rich commoners . No religious freedom, press liberty limited but in paper seem a normal XIX liberal constitution and Turtle sorry I’m just bored people think my country is a banana republic or cuba

@Havenstone: And the Republican Party aren’t Nazis? :stuck_out_tongue:

Jokes aside, “nationalism” is a loaded word that means a lot of different things. I was using it to mean the general ideology looped in with the Western fascisms (Nazism, Italian fascism, Nationalist Spain), the Japanese Empire, and similar. “Nazism” is too specific.

Fascism may be another word to use; the point is that not all dictatorships use a fascist ideology. (To wit, China.)

Nationalism just means supporting one’s nation. However, since the advent of radical new left-wing political systems in the last century or so which claim to be nationalist, - despite having destroyed the entire structure and heritage of their nation (examples being Italy, Germany, Russia, and China), - the term has become loaded, and as such largely meaningless.

If you want to use an even more general term, there’s always Authoritarianism, which would include fascists, “communist” strongmen and right-wing “nationalists” like Jiang Jieshi or Francisco Franco.

Give the possibility to combine nationalism, fascism and socialism - and you get the nationalsocialism of Nazi-Germany.

If you have questions about Nazi-Germany - since I am German, I know very much about it.

I agree that Nazism and Fascism are both too specific. Like Cataphrak, I’d recommend “authoritarian” if a general term is needed. Or just “dictatorship”.

@Ioelet
Whenever the topic of Nazism and Germany pops up, it always reminds me of what’s happened to the other major Axis power. Whereas German schools spend a lot of time going over that particular period in history, Japanese schools tend to avoid it due to pressure from ultra-nationalists. Funny how policies can differ so much just because Japan was not divided into occupation zones between the Soviets and the Americans eh?

I guess Imperial Japan would qualify as a theocracy, with the Emperor as a god figure and the military as the “priesthood”. Then again, it also straddles the line between that and a Cult-of-Personality dictatorship.

it’s a feudal system

Imperial Japan, post-Boshin War, was not feudal, as the samurai caste had been abolished. It was officially an absolute monarchy, but in practice it was under the control of several factions of military leaders.

This game is awesome! Power! Unlimited power!!

The game looks like it should be great. Any news for the moment?

Games like these are difficult to create as it can be messed up fairly easily if your not careful. Research takes time and to simplify the complex systems of politics into a simple yet fun game is hard. Though I tried the beginning and it is very good so far and I can’t wait to see what you’ll do next.

@Alexi_Reynov I’m in the process of multi-tasking I have a project for my science class and trying to research…I was thinking about starting a sort of world political and ethic etc history forum to further that research of NATION thanks for asking.

The game clearly has great potential however the sheer lack of any sort of infrastructure and economy makes the difficulty curb seem to steep. also when is this taking place, post world war two, cold war, post cold war. how has the international community screwed over or helped your nation in the past? Also the options seem to force you to go to extremes on the political slider, something that was a bit of a turn of for me. a general location, even a fake one could help with how the pc decides policies as well as give a greater sense of immersion.

when I click on the link error 404 pops up D:

I love what you have so far, but I am a little worried by the complete lack of economy. What on earth was my dad DOING while in charge that we don’t have any kind of economy to speak of? D:

*puts his economical specialist glasses* He was probably worried with his life and the part where there is a revolution… or something like that. *throws glasses up* We can only guess… only guess we can do.
