I don’t know your background so I cannot be sure if this will help you. I started working on my story to take breaks from writing on my thesis:))

I have to say, the fact that I didn’t make my whole world revolve around this project helped me relax in the writing process. Now I identify writing on my story with taking breaks:))

I also involved my closest friends in the process, but in a kind of active way. Not like authors, but like a kind of board of editors. Whicb made it all more fun for all of us.
