Pressured by his wealthy family to get married and take over the family business, but also feeling no desire to fall in love anytime soon, he turns to his loyal secretary of nine years (and the only woman he can trust) for help: you. All you need to do is enter a contract marriage with him and convince his family and the press that the two of you are truly in love. Once a successful doctor at one of the best hospitals in Seoul, your childhood best friend, Lee Hae-jin, now lives across the street from your grandmother’s old place, where you are now staying. The thing is, you haven’t spoken to him in over a decade, ever since your grandmother died. Will you break the ice and rekindle this old friendship, or is the past too painful to face?

But this is no ordinary person. There’s something oddly supernatural about him and a familiarity you can’t quite place. He wants to strike a deal with you. What exactly is his agenda, and will you agree to his terms?

FAQs

Everything seems gender-locked, is this an exclusively straight romance?

For now, MC is gender-locked female and the main route love interests (The Male Leads) are gender-locked male just for ease of writing. In the future, MC can be M/F/non-binary and the main route love interests can be M/F.

If I reject the boss' proposal, can I still pursue him? If I agree to the proposal, can I romance other love interests?

You won’t be able to pursue the boss if you reject his proposal. Likewise, you can’t pursue the idol, the childhood bestfriend, or the grim reaper if you accept the proposal. However, there are other secondary love interests that you can pursue in the boss’ route.

Note: I will update this section as I receive more questions.

Yay, a K-drama story! Please tell me that the White Truck of Doom, the Kopiko product placement, the soju/makgeolli benders, the piggyback rides, the accidental kisses, the obsessive sasaengs, and the terrible chaebol families are just around the corner.

So far, I like the boss a lot. Favorite moment: Him commenting on the pajamas my MC was wearing.

Suggestions/Stuff I noticed:

  • Describe the preset secretary looks for anybody who doesn’t know the K-drama characters in question, and give us a chance to opt out of the look/customize our looks instead if we don’t like the preset.

  • Give us a little more backstory reactivity (how MC felt about her mother leaving, her grandmother’s illness, if she cried herself to sleep every night or remained stoic). It would help us better place our character in the story.

  • I would like a contact ID nickname, such as “Boss from Hell,” to be available. I would also love to see our boss’s reaction to our specific contact ID down the line.

  • When I was poking the boss, I got this line: “What are you doing, Secretary NAME?”

  • When we bring the coffee for him, you could describe how the MC makes his coffee in a specific way to emphasize how well she knows him/how fussy he is.

This looks fantastic! As a Korean, I’m always happy to see some representation. I feel like there’s so many K-Dramas that are gold mines for IFs. Patiently waiting for the gender-unlock, but can’t wait to see more!

Thanks for the in-depth feedback, feurio! Sounds like you know your K-dramas

As for your other suggestions:

  1. That’s a great idea! I will definitely incorporate that in a future update because I want this to be accessible to everyone.
  2. So for the backstory, I tried not to go into too much detail because some of it will be explored in later chapters. MC’s past (including actual relationship with grandma, feelings about mom) also makes up a significant part of the Childhood Best Friend Route.
  3. You should be able to set your own custom nickname as the last option!
  4. Thanks for catching that! I just fixed it, so it should all be good now!
  5. That’s a great note, and I will definitely include that in a future re-write. I’m planning to go back and expand some of the later scenes of the demo, so I will keep that in mind!

Hey, just a heads-up: if you’re planning to publish through Hosted Games, you’re going to need to come up with a new title, since HG won’t publish a game with “choice” in the title. I think your current title might exceed the maximum length allowed by the app stores, too.

Leave it female only please. No game needs to be for everyone.

Just played the demo and I love it!

I’m still working my way through the demo and its various paths. For now I just wanted to say its very well written, I like the style.

While I agree with you about this - although it saddens me how many people think a game is “for them” only if they can play a shallow copy of themselves - and I would be saying exactly the same thing myself if the author had wanted to write a story centered on a woman but was feeling pressured to make it gender-selectable, this is kind of a weird take.

The author clearly stated that the game was genderlocked at this point only for convenience of writing. She wants to tell an inclusive story - and whether that means she didn’t want to write gender-specific content in the first place or she has a detailed plan for coding gender into the narrative (or something in between), she’s not taking anything away from you. Why, especially in light of the fact that I know you’ve been disappointed before when you learned a game wasn’t “for you,” would you ask an author to narrow her intended audience like this? What’s in it for you?
