Last Dream - A Hindu - Buddhist mythological fantasy adventure (old thread)

That’s exactly what my idea now is. I wanted to make a fan game, I didn’t want to infringe copyrights or “steal” money from anyone or “plagiarize” any other people’s work.

I am no lawyer, but as far as I learned from this endeavor, the only right thing to do is NOT quoting anything from another IP without proper quotation. Even a SINGLE phrase without proper quotation is too much and can be considered plagiarism.

If you want to know more, you can read this article. I read it today, and understood a lot of things. I hope it helps you as well

I wish to thank again every single person who dedicated their time to this fan game. Your love will be forever remembered. You are all invited to Italy, be my guest! I will show you around and treat you delicious food! :spaghetti:

@CosmicRain thank you so much for your help with the Hindi Language dialogues. Thanks to your help, this was probably the first game featuring dialogues in Hindi! And thank you for all the Hindi culture flavor you helped me put into this game. You taught me a lot of things, thank you again!

I apologize again for my intrusion, but I think it is very important that it is made clear that this was not a single line or two plucked as a reference. It was entire scenes of dialogue. I was able to guess that, of course, he was going to rip off Tidus’ awkward introduction to the Besaid Aurochs or the meme-y “Stay away from the summoner!” scene. People worked very hard to write Final Fantasy X in Japanese and to translate it into English; people that were not Gilbert Gallo. That he continues to diminish the scale of plagiarism I saw in the demo chapters alone makes me believe he either does not understand what plagiarism is or that he is unapologetic and thus liable to attempt it again. I hope that he does not, but pretending that this wasn’t flagrant plagiarism masked as “no, really, I’m just a big fan and this is a tribute” only opens the opportunity for it to repeated.

I’m mostly replying once more to link a few examples I drew up over on Reddit showcasing the extent of the plagiarism. I don’t know if the demo is still accessible anywhere, but this contains direct quotes from it and are compared to timestamped videos of where the same dialogue appears in FFX and a transcription. Here. Please give it a look if you are doubtful about my assertions of plagiarism.
