Last Dream - A Hindu - Buddhist mythological fantasy adventure (old thread)

Cover change.

Here’s the latest cover for the game.

It (hopefully) conveys a stronger Hindu/Buddhist idea.

I hope you all like it

Just curious, are you still using this cover art? I’m guessing it’s going into another part of your art assets for submission?

Actually, no. We will use the new cover. In my opinion, it conveys a more Hindu-Buddhist mood.

I think it does, but in saying that I think your original cover was a more striking with a lot of detail and contrast and I suspect more likely to gather more attention for people to give your game a try. Up to you as it’s your game but people like dragons

Edit- Just a thought (and perhaps I’m wrong on this), but didn’t hindu and buddhism originate in India? You’ve got a more sanskrit style title font, it might match better with this style of text behind rather than using chinese characters? (Although I get that Buddhism has been practiced by people now and historically throughout Asia and I definitely wouldn’t use actual wording from any of the sacred texts.)

Woah, seriously? Six months of effort down the drain just like that? It seems a shame though. Quite a lot of people liked the old cover, but the new one didn’t seem to get that many likes.

Did the new cover take you long to make?

The new cover’s okay I guess, but I thought the original was an amazing accomplishment. I’m kinda disappointed now. :frowning:

I see everyone’s point. :slightly_smiling_face:

In my heart, the first cover will always have a special place

Just curious, does she have an online portfolio of other works I can see? I hope she’s not too disappointed that the original cover art isn’t going up.

Actually, she always says that’s MY work  Don’t tell her that’s her work, or you’ll make her mad :stuck_out_tongue:

At the moment, she’s updating her Deviantart profile and she’s creating her website. As soon as they’re up and running, you will admire her artwork

How to immediately save the theurge??

  Sorry, saving the theurge requires time and effort.

You have to reach the end of the story to do it. Believe me, it’s worth the effort.

Hi everybody. :slightly_smiling_face:

After a very careful examination, the committee declared that the game contained many direct references to different masterpieces ( Journey to the West, Avatar and Ffx).

These direct references could create plagiarism problems, so we decided not to publish the game as it is under the HG label.

I will now keep the project in standby and evaluate different options. Eventually, I will change the references and release it for free on Dashingdon.

Sorry for any inconveniences this could have caused to anyone. I love you all

Well, that kinda sucks, especially since I burnt an entire weekend to edit your text. :unamused:

If you change the references, could you submit it on Hosted Games again? Honestly, if you released it for free on Dashingdon, you’re not making any money off it, so it’s considered a fan game and “direct references” should be fine.

It seems a shame though. A 240k word game made over years, with six months spent on drawing and coloring cover art which would ultimately never be used.

To follow up on this, for other authors, if you’re willing to share, what constituted as direct references that could not be published? Was it just mentioning names of other works? Was it mentioning elements/direct quotes from other works? I’m just curious because im wondering what the answer to the question of “How much was too much” is. If you don’t want to answer, that’s completely fine as well. No pressure.

I’m sorry for intruding, but I can’t let this go without comment. You shouldn’t need to be worried about making references because that wasn’t remotely what Gilbert Gallo was doing in this project.

He stole entire sections of dialogue almost verbatim from Final Fantasy X. Not just one or two sections, but many, which isn’t even getting into how much of the world building and story structure was also shamelessly taken from FFX and pasted over. “Direct references” is a poor attempt at covering up the fact he was egregiously plagiarizing. It’s not making a “reference” for me to be able to predict scenes and exact dialogue in your writing because they were written by someone else. He was rejected from HG because it was outright plagiarism.
