Update 4/9

Featuring the end of Chapter 5 (~25k words of new content), in which:

  • The first artifact is discovered
  • There is yet another bad ending
  • MC finally stops bottling up their emotions (or not)

Well, that was sufficiently terrifying.

I presume destroying the artifacts isn’t an option, but should probably be something we can ask about, if not during the initial rundown on them then definitely in the wake of…this.

i wouldnt be surprised if the MC would snapped at one point or even burn a house down or attack one of her ā€˜Forster’ parents, well that would be a little brutal

but i loved the update and this time my save didn’t vanished

Seriously though, seeing how the MC can progress throughout the trilogy from almost a nobody to a highly competent fighter, tactician and generally good keeper is amazing. Feel sorry for their state of mind though :smiling_face_with_tear:
I love the options where the MC can be morally ambiguous, ruthless, and even determined to kill anyone in their way. After all, they are at war and had enough of Frostbite. Reminds me of Eren from AoT. They will kill if they have to for their side to win. I love that you can make your MC that way so that it’s not all black and white but shades of grey

damn. the artifacts are bad news. also, the keeper is kinda turning into an anti-hero now. im kinda sad how their mental health seems to get adressed by people around them lesser and lesser. i know the whole artifact thing but like, it wouldnt matter if ur only functioning keeper is slowly loosing their mind. feels like the keeper starting to have that mindset where they would destroy the whole world and rebuild it be the ideal one or something. honestly considering the mc as possibly one of the villains now. good update. that cliffhanger tho, i was so ready to just get into character and break down.

Can we have telekinesis options in all the fights? I noticed that they were missing and my high-T character died as a result of his terribly weak elemental manipulation.

Well it might not be an issue for returning characters, but I just played a new character who went thermonuclear due to having low willpower, I think. Maybe it’s another stat check, but my high willpower kitstune was relatively fine. That just might annoy some players.

And why does the Keeper seem to not have healing potions on hand? Especially if they took the healing potions class or are majoring healing magic? Seems especially odd what with the paranoia the MC is encouraged to develop, and that it could have been established before that yes, the keeper does carry healing potions.

Is there supposed to be something special about those flames? Why can’t a fire elemental Keeper just absorb them into himself if he chooses to learn that? Why would a a fire elemental who learned how to be immune to fire and absorb it panic at their clothes being on fire?

Why can’t an ice user put the flames out?

And I’m talking about the flames left over, just to be clear, I’m not trying to argue that the Keeper ought be able to prevent the explosion with their elemental magic. That wouldn’t seem plausible, really. But the flames left behind ought to just be flames, right?

It would be one thing if we tried and it failed…

Are we gonna have the option to kill Yakov’s siblings and/or Yakov without like… dying at any point in this series? Feels kinda weird to have the option there but kill the MC if they take it, like might as well not give it to us at all then?

Like I get that it’s only an option in challenge mode, but at the same time, one of the biggest selling points (for me at least), about this series was that no one would have plot armor in the final book. So I’m hoping we do get a chance to kill Yakov and his siblings without dying at some point in this book. Not saying it has to be right now, obviously, just at some point, since that was one of the biggest things about Book 3.

Couple thoughts after playing through chapter 5 a bit more:

I wish a bit more took place before we put the plan into action. Make a show of having to exchange polite greetings with the Frostbite delegation, try to sus out what they’re up to while playing nice over dinner, something like that. Just feels like a waste to barely interact with Dominic, especially since he can potentially die here.

I like the potential breakdown scene, but the way it starts feels off to me. Astrid, Yakov, and Katia are awfully quick to leave MC alone after everything that happened. I also feel like they’d let everyone else know they were back and still alive as soon as possible, even if they held off on the details, so it feels weird that MC is the one that calls their RO and not the other way around.
…Reading that back to myself, maybe this is too nitpicky.

Chapter 5 thoughts: Did enjoy the chaos of the artifact though I will say it seems a bit much with how it felt like everyone was going to leave you alone. Sure Katia is knocked out, but Astrid and Yakov could have atleast said more possibly, even if you didn’t get knocked out.

Will also say that while I do like the breakdown scene, I kinda expected more. Like I honestly feel the MC should have a moment where they snap and yell at someone/s, family included (including our Grandma) about everything we have endured. Like a hardcore venting would be nice, and sure, it may ruffle the feathers of our RO and suitemates and such, but considering how we have endured alot, it would be acceptable. Like I want to have that just, pure raw emotion of being feed up with everything and just be pissed. And I think that the RO/platonics would totally get that.

Now for fun, headcanonic thoughts.
Thalia: Spitting image of Jubilee from X-men. Also, TOTAL weeb and Otaku.
Kol: Shifts into a cat and hops into suitemate’s laps when he wants attention and scritches.
Katia: Prankmaster extrodinare.
Seraphina: Secretly has plans for world domination. Will totally let suitemates in on the plan though.
Leon: Buys human late night info-merchal items for no reason.
Astrid: Started buying cook books, to be a better cook than Leon.
Yakov: Secretly wants a fluffy bunny.
Altair: Has started to wear a demolition suit during work… for reasons.
Cyrus: Has a folder of cat videos on his phone, hours of content.
Cressida: Secretly has a stockpile of disney movies in a box under her bed.

-Side thought- Katia and MC, having a moment together, Katia leaning into kiss MC, then Gisela breaks down/destroys door or wall, pointing a finger at MC while shouting ā€œPervert! Defiler! I will not have you corrupt that angel!ā€ All while Katia is looking at her oddly, Sera is in the background just shaking her head, and MC is on the bed trying not to have a heart attack. All because Gisela is hella protective of Katia, though she will take some teasings a little too far.

Does astrid asks the mc out even with low relationship?

I’m loving it so far.

I do want to say, however, that I really hope that breakdown scene isn’t the only one we get, especially with regards to interactions with our BFF/RO. I just feel like if the Keeper’s mental state is deteriorating, it would be nice to have more support from those closest to them, and the interaction we did get with our route didn’t really… address it, even if we allowed our Keeper to feel again.

Maybe it’s just me, though. :sweat_smile:

It’s funny how the hunters are the only ones who actually can do anything substantial and come off as reasonable, әйе. Seriously, it’s so hard to sympathise with anyone else in charge when they come off as rude, ungrateful and callous bastards who treat humanity like toys.

Well lets see…

Hunters/Humans Head want to help protect other humans and such. +100 Approval.
Angel Head wants to start a loyalty/mind control program to combat deranged Castella. 50/50 on that endeavor.
Demon Head wants more keepers and decided to orchestrate the attack on you. -50 Approval.
Nymph Head has been letting beasts in, instigating attacks on you over and over to have the public see YOU as the bigger threat than Frostbite and others. -1000 Approval.

Soooo in short… A lot of incompetence to go around in this magical world. Little to no common sense at all.

-Side thought- Shame we haven’t had more or any interactions with our possible grandma and family in the Castella’s. I can imagine that would be ā€œfunā€.
