Today is the 15th annual Global Accessibility Awareness Day!
The idea for Global Accessibility Awareness Day was conceived in 2011 by web developer Joe Devon and accessibility expert Jennison Asuncion, to call attention to the importance of creating digital spaces accessible to all users.
At Choice of Games, we’re proud to create accessible games. There are no sound effects, no complicated motor controls, and our apps are fully compatible with screenreaders such as VoiceOver. This year, we also added support for OpenDyslexic font in all our apps.
Gaming should be for everyone, and we’re constantly working to ensure that as many people as possible can play ours.

It’s always nice to see how many visually challenged people still get to enjoy our stuff. I imagine gaming options for them are usually pretty sparse.

Indeed entertainment must be for everyone, no-one must be denied a chance to discover something they will like and allow them to disconnect or learn, pushing for greater accessibility is such a crucial fight from the physical in towns and cities to the digital word, OpenDyslexic font being added to COG will let so many enjoy the content that is already so cherished by the community, more and more effort must be directed towards never leaving anyone behind, let’s keep moving forward friends.

I have occasionally wondered about having a ‘talking book’ version of a game. Maybe it could have numbered choices, and you press your headphones button the right number of times to select your choice (if you’re not near your phone). But then, there are text to voice readers already, so maybe there wouldn’t be a market for it.

Yes, I’ve seen Youtube videos of people playing with screen readers and it seems to work out pretty well already. I was honestly surprised at how relatively streamlined the process was. Not ideal, but nothing about eye issues is ideal, since it’s such a debilitating thing.

Oh really? That’s great! And yeah, I have no personal experience but a good friend of mine is registered blind (and has some limited sight in one eye), and we spend a lot of time trying to find video games with enough accessibility that we can play them together.

I didn’t even know that day existed. I’m totally clueless.I didn’t know this day existed. I am totally blind, and I learned about the community through a group for blind people on Telegram back in 2022/2023. I’m glad to know about COG and HG’s concern in providing…
I am completely blind. I discovered Cog Games in 2023.
It’s good to know about the concern regarding the inclusion of cog in the games.
