new and exciting lines on every replay. can’t say if it’s new.
Thank you
everyone is out to get you, everybody wants you to go solo. or maybe cory’s just as sick of band’s shit as my character is.
Well, that chapter certainly had good food in it!
- After about four chapters of Sebastian being mostly padding he finally gets an important role… through Maia, who does all the work while Sebastian is whinging about how boring he is (correct!) and how it’s absolutely sad that he’s not a cool rockstar unlike (You), the player character. Cory and Maia are doing their collective best to make the ball and chain interesting, but he’s just so bloody dull, holy shit, there’s absolutely nothing interesting about this supposedly main LI. His daughter, was she of age, would be eleven times more fun - out of all the LI cast we still don’t have a character in dedicated fan category despite MC rapidly becoming Griffin Lite and getting slingshotted into stardom.
- I can finally fully beef with Griffin and the narrative remembers that he treats Victoria like shit. In case of Male G, there are also delicious misogyny and double standards, which makes a female PC romancing him feel even more interesting. He really shines in his scenes, and the taste of stardom he represents feels exilirating, feels obviously tempting and correct - and isn’t that the dilemma the narrative keeps raising very unsubtly.
- I am developing a mild hernia from the deluge of unskippable Orion scenes and the nerve of trying to use PC’s ex-boyfriend as a learning opportunity for his sort of personal relationships. I’ve trusted him to be the only person in the group to not be weird about durian raccoon and after the chess scene I can’t wait for him to leave already. The fact his scenes are ten times longer than the scenes of literally everyone else, the fact he doesn’t care that I don’t give a shit about him and his problems, the fact I can’t grow to dislike him outside of mild ribbing and the fact I cannot skip them no matter how hard I try to bully and ignore him only worsens my condition.
- Band is marginally more okay here. Seven drama begins picking up. I like their cageyness and the fact MC can start thinking about solo career.
- I feel marginally satisfied that my crack theory about G and Blake being siblings gets some very interesting foreshadowing in this chapter, but there’s not much about Dakota’s relations to both yet despite them also having brown hair and spending time in very, very rich circles.
- MC BEING A RAGING DRUNKARD FINALLY STARTS TO MATTER! Even though the reactivity mainly boils down to being blocked off certain dialogue options and, in some cases, seems to not matter as much as it should’ve (bad rel G shits on Victoria for getting drunk while him and his entire family cared not that my MC had spent most of the evening getting shitfaced and was barely able to coherently speak), seeing it finally appear and matter is very, very nice. The issue is the fact drugs don’t get that treatment outside of MC offhandedly mentioning that the band’s only vices are drinks, weed and being weird about his ex, and the same is true about cigarettes, which ends up being the same problem other chapters after the intro have had about vices. Like, lead singer having a smoked-out voice and pissed endurance (something that is noted in Orion’s CH4 scene) not a problem, no? We gonna rebrand into a chanson band after we win the show and move to Russia?
- Someone must’ve caused a gas leak in all areas of Ohio since Seven is incredibly, incredibly straightforward with his feelings compared to the previous chapters. He expresses far more obvious affection, he sings with MC in the most romantically charged scene since the eye-fucking in the tour bus, Avina starts to understand their position as a fifth wheel in the two-wheeled wheelbarrow, the band vehemently denies that the song openly mentioning love and feelings from durian raccoon has any sort of deep meaning and the bar scene is written like you’re about to fuck in it… if you go in completely pissed, apparently, since I could not trigger it in the sober attempt at all and the code is locked. I don’t mind getting food and it’s really tasty, but it feels like he’s getting his durian raccoon-ness sanded off compared to earlier chapters, and it does not mesh in my eyes… Just feels too unsubtle.
- The stardom versus music dilemma is getting very unsubtle and very obvious.
- I am joining the ranks of Cory defenders.
- I didn’t lose despite writing for UW, but I didn’t win either despite busting my arse off for the lyrics, 77% camaraderie and durian raccoon writing me a song about his loves and feelings. Can’t check the code, but is the win finally affected by the player not being a team player?
Diet 4chan still hasn’t sent any gore to MC or Seven. Nor has it hacked their accs to post AI scam links. Very disappointing!
i’ve been soo excited this chapter is out, but i haven’t played through it more than a few pages because the challenge stuff is still so bugged out
(at least on the playthrough i’ve attempted). it keeps switching between UW and SV being said to be the one writing for my PC’s band, lyrics are kinda janky, and so on. i’ve been struggling w the bugginess since around the ending bits of chapter 3, tbh, but this chapter so far is pretty rough in that vein.
i think you might be right! i tried to play through it from the beginning but i gave out around chapter 3 KLDJFSLKJD because there’s just so much. then when i did quickstart it was all wonky in chapter 5 with the challenge. but! i still have my save from playing through it completely saved i think, maybe i’ll give it another go later today. thanks!
In my case, it was mostly typos and missing commas. But I’ve replayed the entire game from the very start to the very finish - maybe quickstart is fucked?
i was getting pretty miffed because i wanted to win so i ended up looking for a way to see the code despite it being turned off after seeing somewhere that you can lmao. from that i found that for me the final straw was that you get an extra point if your band changed genres after seven left. all the other points aside from sleeping vs. rehearsing for career >50 vs. <50 seemed pretty clearly signposted in that it basically tells you if you made the right choice for the performance if you focus on yourself vs. engaging with the band and everything.
I wonder if deciding to not sleep was the nail that did Ivan in. Grinded too close to the sun and stuff, I’ve picked all rise and grind options.
It also lets us know that MC has metabolism out of this galaxy. During the concert bash MC was knocking down shot after shot after pint after shot after…in short, if there was booze offer, I took it save for one where you had to choose between mystery pills and booze. Mystery pills won, of course, because as any wannabe rocker approaching 27 knows mixing mystery pills and booze is a thing you do. And yet, all that time MC was able to move on their two, speak well enough to offer to drive (why G’s answer wasn’t "Are you completely out of your mind?!
"? Such a missed opportunity), have coherent conversation with G there, uncover important clue into G and Blake’s story and give half-a-head without vomiting all over.
Please. Smokey vocals are sexy. Also, O is coping, with all their running MC and their nicotine lungs still won the race.
Did your MC go to the party in Chapter 4? Then it is impossible to win if you write for UW because of a bug. Also it doesn’t matter if MC gets written a good or shitty song and that’s really baffling. Oh well, at least I can dunk on 7 with abandon in the future, as I don’t need their approval anymore.
Apropos of nothing, I would like to lodge a complaint with universe in general about writer constantly nerfing ROs I like. Dakota, so cool – then blam, that little nepobaby threatened to pull rank on MC. G seemed promising, turns out they’re a Kardashian. Fingers crossed my current favourite, Victoria, fellow drinking buddy of “Coping up with Kardashians” endeavour, is spared. ![]()
Naaah, Ivan is on the grindset and stayed in. What is especially funny is me fumbling the win to the fucking Missing in Action somehow despite good durian raccoon rel / staying in / going for Blake’s typical lyrics style / rehearsing / not sleeping. I’d expect SV or UW, not these people!
In my case, Seven suffered from a severe Ohio gas leak and started being weirdly affectionate despite the romance scene only seeming to trigger when MC is pissed drunk and Dakota was barely there, but I’ve really liked their romance scene where they only spill something if they’re sure MC won’t remember, so I suppose it evens out. It’s still kind of eh that the close proximity isn’t used for even more pathetic yearner behaviour from both sides while they’re writing and locked in the same wing either. Victoria seems to have a lot of stuff this chapter, though, and I did like the scenes with her.
Stayed the same. Huh, so it does matter. I’ve stayed the same genre for angst factor and maybe some reactivity about not being over Seven even in the genre of music.
Have the band changed genres in prologue? There’s another +1 from that.
I’ve been getting bugs from chapter 1 forward where some paragraphs are repeated with minor variations, and I can’t remember if they were always that way or if there’s been some recoding that broke them.
oh i’ve gotten those too!! i totally forgot until u mentioned but ya i got a LOT of repeats (either a sentence or two repeated twice in a row, in the same paragraph; or full paragraphs/pages’ worth of text repeated with very minor variations).
In fairness I think everyone in the band not named Rowan is pretty replaceable.
I kind of agree about Seven. On one hand, I’m glad they’re nicer and you can actually have a conversation with them. But on the other hand it does feel a bit sudden/soon? It just feels like in Chapter 4 they were still pretty closed off and rude with MC, but now they’re suddenly more forthcoming about their feelings and actually thank MC if you compliment them (provided you have high enough stats). And it just makes me wonder what has actually changed so far?
I don’t know, maybe I misjudged their route? The author has said it’s 10/10 in terms of angst so I was expecting the animosity to last a while longer, but I guess they’re just so soft for MC that the proximity alone is enough to change them already.
Cory is just shipping MC and Seven while helping MC to become the protagonist and a star.
She has been surprisingly nice, helping the MC with the show more than anyone that is not G .
I think this is honestly it. Seven and MC haven’t properly been in each other’s space in so long, Seven still cares about the MC while holding resentment and honestly, personally, I’ve had strong connections with people that I fell out horribly with but reconnected with a few years later and I still feel very much attached to them while still having the lingering feelings of anger (or whatever) before we talk it out properly like adults. (Childhood friends in this case) All that nostalgia is spilling out even if they don’t want it to.

And that’s exactly why I think the band is afraid lmao. Even Avina, if you read Avina’s POVs, they don’t want Seven to “undo” the process they’ve made about their feelings towards the MC. It’s all very interesting and after genuinely going into every little detail I could find about Seven (through tumblr asks and patreon content), their behavior isn’t that shocking to me. I think that’s why people are also disappointed a bit with Seven’s romance thinking it’ll be a full on hatred enemies to lovers (like Blake’s) but there’s literally no way that could happen with the kind of person Seven is and how they treat their connections and bonds to people.
Which is also ironic bc Amy said Seven’s original personality was switched with Blake’s I believe. I prefer it this way, though, I think Seven is a deeply relatable character to me so I enjoy it. I also like that we get to see how much Seven longs and misses MC in general but especially when they’re by themselves away from their bands :,)
Seven has always been a softy for MC and they’ll always defend MC’s honor (so long as MC does right, lmao), plus, we have to remember that the way MC sees things isn’t how everyone else saw it. We’re just starting to see it more from MC’s eyes bc they’re paying attention but it has always been there! Simply reading how the characters in-game say how Sev talks and reacts about MC kind of says a lot too.

I also think the route ratings don’t just have to do with romance, I think they have to do with the literal plot relevance to the character and what you will see more about that’s relating to them specifically. Like stuff with Lucy (i’m literally bawling in advance), whoever the girl is on Seven’s lock screen, the phone calls Seven has been having (ESPECIALLY the breakdown at the end of CH5??? hello???), if Seven’s dad comes into play + the struggles of reconnecting + whatever tf the band is hiding and are being secretive about + SECRETS Seven has been hiding + the truth behind the vote + Soft Violence most likely not supporting it initially (I think Pope and Kieran would be more on the idc what happens so long as Sev is happy team but Avina will definitely have words LMAO) which will most likely tie into Seven’s character development in general as well + MC’s parents (if you stay involved with them ig) + the internet and BOTB prying into their relationship, etc etc. And that’s just what could happen in Seven’s path…
LMAOOO let me shorten this, it’s long asl my bad, i love infamous a little too much mayhaps
I think the thing that becomes apparent as the story goes on is there is seemingly more unresolved weirdness between the rest of the band and Seven necessarily than between the MC and Seven. The crux of the issue with Seven was that the MC wanted to somehow pacify everyone involved rather than picking his girlfriend over all his other friends and giving them an ultimatum when put on the spot. We don’t really know why the band put the MC in that position and if the justification of it sounded better was legit.
I was hoping for a little more destructive in the end of the charter. Like relationship ruining options.
Example like hooking up with Blake or G’s sister and end up destroying your relationship with G. Drunk texting Seven or Sebastian. Kissing Valentina out of nowhere. Going at the DJ and request a song to be played dedicated to someone ( A friend of mine did that when he was drunk in a high school school trip ( European ) ) . Maybe even waking up in a random house with someone you don’t recognise.
It was an amazing read either way, I just want to torture MC a little harder on drunk run.
Ha! Mine sort of did that.
Though it is governed by promiscuity stat methinks. Anyway, I’m sure there’s nothing to it and it absolutely won’t come and bite MC in the ass. ![]()
I'm stuffing my thoughts on the number person under the lid too to spare feelings
I started out mildly liking them, but with each replay they grate me more and more. This particular run with the new code was the worst, because petty little bitch dislikes you for everything but the most deferential, meek, apologetic sucking up with very few exceptions. They’re worse than memetic Morrigan “Disapproves” of Dragon Age Origins, at least you could buy that one with gifts. Yeah nah, up yours, Numberoni, if I wanted to play a doormat, there’s whole otome genre and it has pretty pictures, you will only be softlocked so that MC could dump you on hardlock. ![]()
