Is that true?!
Thanks a lot for the help! I will try the rehearsal ( went with sleep ) and appeal to the fans in case it works. If it fails I will try writing for SV .
If it fails I can almost imagine all of the band members breaking the fourth wall just to tell me ’ we told you to choose them ’ . Well, excuse me Rowan for not expecting the bug.
Maybe the characters have become self aware and start rebelling… ?
We are only on CH5 where we’re not even at the tip of the iceberg on the past of MC and Sev, things are slowly unwinding. Realistically, out of all the main (and I guess sub) ROs, Seven is the least likely to hookup with the MC this early into the story and I highly doubt they’ll be a hookup option in general without mutual feelings after getting everything resolved bc there’s just too much history. And even then I feel like they wouldn’t hunch with the MC unless they were in a committed relationship but that could differ so long as you’re both on the same page and probably have confessed. There was a lot of progress in the relationship for Sevenmancers/Seven friendship folks thooo hehe :))
On another note you can hookup with a main RO this chapter!
LMFAOOOO depending on the choices/scenes you’re talking about, maybe it can be seen as reflecting MC’s own feelings?? ![]()
I need that UWB bug to be fixed though sksjdhfjfk I want to see the performance so bad !!1!1! And to perform with LA ![]()
Or so I heard if you win the performance!!
How difficult is this to achieve? Does it end the game?
Piss easy, if you’re on the bugged UW path.
I actually got kicked out on the first playthrough, which made me irrationally angry and soured the rest of the chapter.
On patreon version it sent you forward with something like “Enter cheat mode and win”. Prolly the same with public.
So, I love this. Sincerely. I do have a recommendation that I have to believe has come up a lot, but nearly 9000 posts is a lot to get through, so I’ll just put it out there. The recommendation is this:
Bump Blake up from secondary romance. I found her (or him/them? not sure if gender selectable) to be the most memorable and intriguing character in the story. She just doesn’t read as a secondary character, she reads as the main character in an enemies-to-lovers, thawing-the-ice-queen, possibly even hurt-comfort romance. She has so much agency, a backstory and agenda that seem critical to the overall plot, so much surface-level confidence, such a blunt style of conflict and a mystery surrounding her that all just seem to elevate her status in the story.
I want to be clear here that I don’t think the currently listed and featured romances are badly written at all (quite the contrary), but I absolutely feel that Blake hits a particular spot that none of the others do. Whenever a list of choices came up for romantic actions and Blake wasn’t on the list, I had this moment of disappointment where I realized my interest in the character just wasn’t going to be validated. That wasn’t the best feeling because, for whatever reason, I simply didn’t have any romantic interest in the other characters.
I think a lot of it is that blunt delivery. Seven and Blake are both antagonistic characters with mysteries in their back stories, but Blake just directly tells you what she’s thinking and Seven tends to convey her emotions non-verbally and through an opaque lens. It reminds me of the difference between Rebecca and Lucy in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, for those who’ve seen it. Both characters had similar emotions, but expressed them (or didn’t express them) in completely different ways; Lucy internalized, Rebecca just said the quiet parts out loud.
Anyway, yes. TLDR: Love the story, look forward to reading more and I think Blake is, thus far, a heavily underutilized character.
And, sidenote, it’d be nice if there were some more romantic options with Blake and conversational options about her that didn’t do the whole “she’d be hot if she didn’t talk” or “I hate that she’s hot” thing. Dialog choices of that type, romantic and otherwise, seemed to come up frequently and they always struck me as a little gross, reductive and objectifying rather than funny (though this might play differently if there’s a female MC and male Blake just due to gender power dynamics). It’s fine to have those options for snarky or crude characters, but other options would be appreciated. Just my take.
EDIT: Sidenote 2, I’d love the ability to engage with Maya in a way that just took a purely platonic path with Seb. I adore her and I really like the idea of being the big sister/cool aunt character in her life, but I’m a queer woman and have zero interest in dating her father. It can often – especially later in the story – feel like Maya is used as a plot device to explain the relationship with Seb rather than a full character in her own right.
And, sure, platonic dialog options with Seb exist, but they can frequently take an antagonistic “Shut up, I don’t care what you’re thinking” tone. I’d really just like an option to be like, “Hey, I’m gay and currently ride-or-die for a woman with a face tattoo, so let’s just talk about supporting your girl-boss daughter from now on.” Probably too much word wrapping for a choice, but it’s where I’m at. It gets kind of exhausting fending off all the romance prompts in that subplot; it starts to feel like the story just assumes you’re romancing Seb if you interact with Maya in any way when, in reality, Maya’s the only reason I’m there.
EDIT: Just talking theory a little bit, I think one reason the Maya situation is tricky is because it’s possible to be introduced to Maya first if you skip Seb at the bar. Our brains tend to prioritize the characters we meet first as being more important (the RO we’re introduced to first in a story tends to be perceived as the canon choice, for example.)
In this case, my primary relationship was with Maya, and Seb was added as a secondary relationship. If Seb had been introduced to me first, I probably would have skipped the whole interaction (which is apparently what I did when he was at the bar), just occasionally tagging Maya’s posts on her fanpage or something because the primary relationship would be perceived as
A) “potential male romance option w/daughter”
instead of
B) "adoring, precocious teen who runs my fandom (whose father is also there) "
As the story currently reads, I started with B but switched to A whether I wanted to or not, so it felt off-putting because I wasn’t interested in said romance.
That said, I get that this is a massive piece of writing already and making structural changes of that sort might resemble moving a mountain. It felt worth mentioning, though.
Write a song for Soft Violence. In patreon, I did wrote for Seven and won. Also, there’s a option to rehearse until the competition so you have to do that
Blake being a sub RO doesn’t mean they’ll get less screen time, it literally changes nothing from a main RO except Amy has a canon ending for the sub ROs that we cannot change.
I completely agree with the Sebastian points and everything else!! It would be best to send these to Amy’s tumblr too because she doesn’t check the forum!
Oh, that’s great to know! The stats page definitely doesn’t make that clear! The categorization of “ROs” and “Secondary ROs”, with only the first group getting a relationship tracker made it feel as if there were “greater” and “lesser” romances to me. I’m glad I misinterpreted that!
Technically we do have a stat check for Blake (Blake positive/negative + the romance count), it’s just hidden! But I see what you mean & yes, Amy explains this on her introduction post as well (I added the parentheses part):
What is a sub-romance? It’s the same as a (main) romance except your decisions do not influence how it ends and it is controlled by the narrative. I have full control on whether the romance succeeds or fails based on what the narrative requires.
My understanding, Blake’s only a male now. Hence no interest in Blake. When old version was a woman, I was interested.
The only one Im really after is Orianna. That dommy mommy, party/crowd avoiding lady, cant seem to want to break from her. Lady Seven is no match to her, so I keep ones uninterested in at all, stay as Lords. I’ve tried breaking away from Orianna, cant. Shes literally too much of my liking. Orion can easily be ignored but end up craving Orianna and stop Orion too short.
I did prefer ex-Seven once upon a time. Lady Blake too. Not enough to take me away from her. I’ve tried… shes just too amazing…
Blake is not always male. For example in my save Blake is a female. I believe their gender depends on someone else’s gender(?)
I believe it’s G.
Yep. G tends to always be a man in my runs, minus first time run. So, if I want Miss Blake back, I gotta make the annoying prick a Ms.
G is a just want to rearrange face type to me.
ugh, now cogdemos don’t work without foreign addresses either. who snitched to rkn, i wonder.
I’m not interested in either, I just like the idea of a teenage prodigy gal more than the idea of a teenage prodigy guy.
Huh. Was the intro rewritten once more? I don’t remember several dialogue options and text bits existing before.
That I can concur with.
Quick question does anyone know which romance option can you initiate romance with in chapter 5?
