I may be wrong, but it seems like smoking is kinda forgotten? We could choose it at the beginning but after that, it was never mentioned again ![]()
Amy please let me kill my mc this way
The snippet was good.
I do intend to own this one once released. I hate, really hate, reality TV. This though, I am loving. I want more time with Orianna! I don’t get enough time with that hottie still. 20 something chapters? That’s going to be fun times!
I hated wrestling but really love Slammed! I want that lover to wrestle me down onto the tarp. I need help. I know…
So you’ve embraced the idea that this is a MC torture simulator, too? I’m getting downright sadistic with the things I want to happen to my MC. If I have to watch them constantly suffer, at least let me watch them go into a downward spiral and smash into the rocks at the bottom.
That was my silly plan from the very beginning >:) Create a depressed, emotionally neglected, doormat MC who would do anything for his friends (I’m sure he lost his passion for singing in the band looong ago, but ofc he won’t tell anyone), and throw him to the wolves just to watch him fight for survival - and lose. TBH I hope there will be more “self-destructing” vices than drugs and alcohol. But it’s just me
Mine doesn’t care about the singing, the art, the drama, he just wants to win the stupid thing. This reality TV stuff is a viper’s den and even winning it probably won’t be all that fun, but the money is the money.
Mine is close to this, but singing is what all three of them live for. And they dislike their band, to varying degrees. One of my MCs literally hates them and blames them for ruining her life and taking away the one person who ever loved her, but she doesn’t show it–she’s just cold and emotionless to them. The only one she likes is Orion.
It’s not just you. I hope for the same. We need to beg Amy to give us more destruction to work with. I mean, the story is dark, with bad shit happening, so why not let us have more bad shit? I have specific thoughts on this, and the things I’d like to see available, but don’t want to get hit in the head with a mod hammer. eyes HarrisPS warily
All three of mine want to win, to varying degrees. My O-mancer is probably the most balanced, and see it like you said (though she is horribly depressed and withdrawn, but she covers it well). My G-mancer is turning out as self-destructive and self-hating as my Seven-mancer. I think that, if I did a Blake run, I’d have a fiery MC who was ready to fight the world. And someone just looking for companionship with Dakota. But I’m not wasting good MCs on romances that are already decided from the start.
My main isn’t so depressed, he knew exactly what he was getting into when he signed up for this thing, he figured his band would be the punching bag because every reality TV competition always has one, but you just got a deal with it, complaining can come after it’s over And you’re rich. I’m not a fan of most of the self-destruction options, the drugs and the like, I do hope overworking/being hyper focused is going to come back and eventually bite us because that’s the one I’m leaning into
thats why i put that mildly lmaoo, but ig I get what you mean
Personally, if we’re talking about winning; mine isn’t interested in it at all, but as I said; he’s pushover. He just wants to rest and gain some stability in his life AND that’s why he’s Ori or Seb - mancer
I can’t decide, they’re both my fav
I kind of want to see how the self-destructive path goes, but I just can’t bring myself to make a character for that. Maybe when the book is out.
(I also don’t like any of the provided name options for the MC, buuuuut.)
My MC is mostly just irritated that his friends treat him like he’s made of glass and refuse to take him seriously, at the same time.
Overworking could be a good one if it can expand into a never-sleeps-constantly-works MC who is about two days from dropping over from exhaustion. I just want it to be actually self-destructive. Combined with a MC who has shoved all their emotions down and is basically a work robot, it could be a lot of fun. Especially if we can tell the band to mind their own business if they try to interfere or offer their unwelcomed opinion.
And yeah, I get it that the MC should’ve known what they were getting into by joining the show. O tried to warn them, too. I think mine just didn’t expect to immediately become the punching bag and stay there. At this point, they all realize they’ll never escape the cheating allegations and that they will follow them to their deathbed. And that depresses them. One of them, in particular, because she feels like they are good enough to make it only to get told she sucks as a singer and cheated her way in.
Aww. My O-mancer feels like O is a kindred spirit in the area of working herself to death, lol. I don’t have a Seb-mancer. He’s just… not my type. Though I played his Christmas special and the man has more of a spine than I realized!
At this point one of my unhealthily clingy mc’s is only doing this for her “friends” but is honestly shattering and spiraling further. Yes I’m a sadist but that’s honestly the thing that got all us into this wonderful IF lol the drama and sheer no win factor without the show breaking everything and throwing it back in mc’s face and ruining the possible career.
Since O became romancable. I ducked out of the rest and don’t care about the rest. Made them men instead of women, all I see is their dipshit ways now. Before I was ignoring how bad they are as women. Its a whatever floats your boats my dudes. I am going to continue. I will be friendly and try to make friendly. Otherwise that drama you’ll have is just nonsense. O is… wow… O. I love her!
Despite the fact both of my MCs are people with abysmal Issues™, I’m still coming for the crown. It costing G? Good riddance. It costing Seven? Yeah, that’s just extra spice for my burger of pain. I came to win this joint and I will do that with both of them.
My MC did not vote against Seven, so technically wouldn’t he have been the scorned lover? It is tragic that what happened betweeen them happened but was it not Seven the escolated things into the hell that is was? Frankly had she told the MC that the band was not worth their break-up and that they should let the band find themselves new singers I think that the MC and her would probably singing in a new band and maybe even in the one she is in now together, but instead, she decided to walk away from him rather then fight for him. Sure, some will say the MC did nnot fight for her but didn’t he by not voting against her? They honestly should have kicked their asses to the curb and started over, they was the one trying to usurp her and make the MC join as well. I think poetic justice would be that the MC see this is just try and get Seven to join him elsewhere then in the MC’s band and maybe even with her. I bet a reuninion wouls pike both their careers to massive heights.
Grasping onto the theory that Seven could be trying to keep her/his personal life private fits to me. I mean maybe it is something that could be more humiliating such as deadbeat dad calling from prison or whatever and Blake somehow finding out and Seven not wishing it to become public.
I don’t personally think that would necessarily be a good thing - Seven reads to me as someone who’s really dangerous for a people-pleaser to be around - but of course everyone is different.
I think the logic with Seven’s argument about MC not-fighting (which I don’t agree with - just one of the things that makes Seven look dangerous for MC’s mental health to me) is that even entertaining the vote was an act against Seven, but what was the MC, as a people-pleaser, supposed to do, other than trying to do what people wanted them to do? Seven must know that about the MC after all.
I mean, knowing such thing doesn’t mean one can’t hold it against the person, that they didn’t fight their “nature” for once. E.g. if your partner is addicted to gambling you can still resent them for gambling away everything you two had, instead of choosing to seek help with their addiction.
Sure, but it doesn’t just magically happen on its own, especially when frankly Seven seems to be taking advantage of MC’s nature more than trying to help them stand for themself (the whole “why don’t you do what I want” vibe I’m getting, which is a really damaging thing to do for a people-pleaser. You don’t get to resent a gambling addict if you demand they take bets from you instead.)
Well, that it doesn’t magically happen but is something the person has to decide to do and then carry out is kind of the point here – the resentment is there because the MC didn’t make such decision.
If we’re to continue the pleasing/gambling analogy, it’s more akin to the MC claiming that they’d always prioritize gambling at Seven’s place, but then when given actual choice, turning around and going to another den, instead of staying true to their word. :v
Ah, but that is the thing about people-pleasing - at least from my experience - you’ll say whatever it is people around you want (or you assume them to want) to say, so you’ll constantly make sudden 180s when someone expresses a different opinion so that you can agree with that. “Don’t you agree?” or things like that is one of the worst things people can say, because at that point the only answer you can give is “sure”, no matter what you actually think.
And if all the people around you keep doing that, and nobody is supporting you in standing for yourself, then no, there’s very little chance of any change happening. You may not even realize what’s happening and you’d need to change, because you’re too much in it trying to keep up with the demands yourself.
I’ll give the band a free pass on that, because they don’t know the MC as well as Seven does, but Seven (and I repeat, this is my reading of the situation) gets no sympathy from me. It’s not like MC made a promise to Seven beforehand to not take part in any votes regarding them, I’d assume. I don’t think they even promised to always take Seven’s side in things (which to be fair, they did take, if they voted for Seven. The whole situation probably short-circuited the MC’s brain, so they went with the side with most people on it) which, again, taking advantage of a people-pleaser, so please no. You need to give support, not demands, if you actually care about that person’s mental health. If they did make an actual promise on that, that’s a different ballgame, I agree.
(This is also why the “Boundaries? There are none” comment irks me so. You’re finally trying to stand for yourself, and get blatantly ignored. And no, I don’t buy they “they should be used to that” argument. Changing clothes in the same room is completely different from having someone barge in your bedroom when you’re trying to sleep and are not prepared for human contact, and I don’t think the band has gone on enough tours to have the latter one happen regularly. Even if they did, it’s not something you shouldn’t be allowed to be annoyed about. If someone says “closed door means knock”, you listen, even if you share a locker room.)
…sorry, this is a bit of a… I wouldn’t say triggering subject for me, per se, but something in that vein.
