Infamous if (band wip) chap 3 (457k wrds) released (9/08/2024)

Have you… tried? Like, honest question, I’m relatively new to this thread, I dunno. Did you try talking about other stuff and been shot down or something?

I mean, with those names… :stuck_out_tongue:

@djinnism When does G contract expire? Have any expired and they just signed an extension?

G signed when they were sixteen and has just been vibing with Viktor since. Viktor’s got them on one of those K-Pop slave contracts, I fear.

K-Pop slave contracts expire. My (admitedly lacking) understanding is that, for example, (G)-Idle’s is about to and they CAN’T WAIT.

Imagine the look on viktor face. It would be amazing. Priceless.

Do they even realize that leaving Viktor is a legitimate option? They’re constantly asking after Viktor. They get aggro when Viktor ditches them. Like, they can’t stand Viktor (real), but they also can’t imagine not being beholden to them.

I don’t think they do just yet. They put up with a lot vitkor bullshit, because of some loyality. Viktor made them famous, and despite everything including parading Blake at the bus scene, G is still going to be loyal to them. Until they won’t. Hopefully Mc will help them with that.

I desperately need G to fistfight Viktor like they did Blake.

Hang on, is 20 chapters the officially stated goal? :star_struck:

Yes. Which again will be wonderfully overwhelming. I will love every angsty minute of it :joy:. Only two chapters in and I am invested :muscle:

These tears…are they from joy or the pain?

No. It is only through suffering that we know life :smirk_cat:

Beside there being some kind of weird loyalty (i’m saying “weird” because Viktor has known G since they were 16), i also feel like there’s a part of G that believes their sucess might mostly be due to Viktor’s management. We also don’t know what their contract entails. Maybe there’s also a fear of them losing the rights over their songs, brands etc. Just leaving like that in the entertainement industry is definitely not an easy thing to do.

Yes! I think a lot of their issues stem from the fact that they attribute most of their success to Viktor instead of their own talent and hard work. G’s life and career isn’t really their own, y’know? They were a kid when they signed their contract and every second of their life has been micromanaged since. Even something that’s supposed to be their choice, like their marriage, isn’t really up to them. How could they even escape that? How could they not end up with severe imposter syndrome?

But G very clearly doesn’t like where their success has taken them, to the point that you get a hit to your relationship if you admire them.

I assure you right now that they do NOT have the rights over their songs or brands, because that’s not what you get when you’re a 16-y.o. complete newcomer to the scene signing on with a record label.

Oh really? What scene is that in??

There’s some scenes where it can happen, e.g.:

#"You're going to watch our practice?" you blurt in excitement.
${g} grins, leaning forward to lift ${ghim}self on the stage using ${ghis} palms. "Excited?" ${ghe} asks. "I can hear it in your voice."
        *fake_choice
// ...
            #"You're my idol. I can't help it."
                *set griffin %- 2
                *set gina %- 2
$!{ghe} chews on ${ghis} lower lip, looking pensive. $!{ghis} humor dies for a split second before ${ghe} laughs a little to ${ghim}self.

In some other cases options to blatantly simp are separate from options which advance G romance, meaning if you pick the former you miss out on the latter.

(it’s not entirely clear-cut though. Sometimes expressing admiration has positive effect. It can depend on context and, if i’m not mistaken, whether it’s aimed at G as a person or mindless “i’m a fan” sort of thing)

@fsix oh right the practice scene. Tbh I always choose the cheeky options and G seems to love it  plus I love the duet part :heartpulse:

Omg , yes! I was puddle of giggling when I read that :joy::relieved:.
That was the scene that catapulted them to be on of my favourites.
Listen the relationship is angst but not cringe (until now at least) and it is a dynamic I normally don’t go for but I can’t help myself.
I am looking forward to the rewrite also because what we have seen so far made it actually better.
And Amy is so fast :zap:.

And I might have complained about Seven but I am really looking forward to their character development.
Same as Blake damn their valentine’s was :fire: :fire_engine:

I am also very interested in Dakota and their role .
Any theories so far?

I think they have something to do with the label. They might be a trust fund baby whose parents are tied to the industry. Could explain why they met G in the first place.

There was some ask that said something about dakota wearing a dress fresh out of the fashion runway so you could be right on that theory.

That would also explain the close friendship with G, or how they can get acces to exclusive parties.

Also we still don’t know their last name. So they could also be connected to some higher up in the music industry. Someone even more powerful than Viktor.

Thank you so much for sharing this observation! I’d been trying to express why I can’t stand Seven’s brand of bullshit vs. G’s but couldn’t quite phrase it until I read your wording of it.

I’m playing a pretty ruthless, fame-climber sort who’s totally over Seven and has no patience or sympathy for Seven’s perceived shenanigans. To the point of going along with the producer’s scheme to exploit their past relationship and current gossip for ratings (which Seven fucked up).

Inversely, my MC initially didn’t worship G but had a pretty big celebrity crush, and even once the glitter mask started to slip, and she got a good look at G’s bullshit, it was easier to excuse the eccentricity and entitlement that comes with that level of fame.

I’m sure others experience the reverse.

Unfortunately, my MC is going through that anime arc of being so sick and tired of her co-dependence with Seven and the band in the past that she’s swung the pendulum to the other side and is determined to carve out a future for herself at the expense of anything or anyone else.

I definitely think they’re probably a nepo baby of some sort.

I was wondering if someone in their fam might have something to do with that music magazine that covers the contest. Or there’s some sort of link there to music journalism in general.

There's also this bit from the demo where Victoria talks about them

"Do they"—you raise a finger—“know each other?”

Victoria looks confused for a second and then laughs. “Dakota and ${g}? Definitely. They go way back.” She glances at them, scowling at the way Dakota finally breaks free. ${g} starts reaching out to grab ${dhim} again and Dakota slaps ${ghis} hand, which makes ${g} whine. “Since the start of ${g}'s career. I guess you can say they’re best friends in a way.” Oh. "Dakota would never admit it though. $!{dhe}‘s too good for us, apparently. Likes to pretend we don’t know each other.’’ You’re barely processing the information when she’s speaking again. “I get it, you know, what with the optics of it all.”

Optics?

… And that bit makes me wonder if the worry is that their friendship with Dakota could possibly influence media coverage? Influence the contest somehow? Influence the contest through media coverage?? :woman_shrugging:
