Whenever the author finishes the rewrite

Oh, is it that time of the month again? From the forum rules:

This so reminded me of that Simpsons “don’t make me tap the sign again” meme haha.

But yeah, it’s considered rude to ask about updates and such as it puts pressure on the author.

Edited to add:

-these were the tags on one of Amy’s recent tumblr posts so she IS working away at the IF. It’s just in her own time, which is her right.

gushing actived. Not important for anything

For Amy every month is Nanowrimo. She is a machine I am on actual aw about her productivity.
Other author’s (me I am looking in the mirror :mirror:)take very long to produce anything and keep up with their work and she just writes chapters longer than books in such a short time and outperforms basically anyone on patreon with the sheer quality and mass she is producing

Anyone else really appreciative of the fact that this will not be a series but a standalone book.
I am so happy about that it’s unreasonable…
Even though it will be one heck of a word count. If it continues like this we will reach over a million words by chapter 4 or 5.
Edit:come to think of it… Will it even be feasible to make it a standalone? I mean it will be 20 chapters

Considering that last scene in the chapter, don’t you worry. It will hurt. It will hurt a lot.

“Know it’s gonna take a while because you also have a life and that’s not the problem”

  • these tumblr anons are so entitled I swear to god

Like i find it good now that I can’t code for sh*t even though I love writing bc imagine creating a game for free and constantly getting asked the same thing over and over…

Or that one that demanded to know why she has not answered their asks.

There’s a REASON why one the forum rules is “don’t ask when a game gets updated”, and it isn’t so the author can stand in your house in the dark to yell “SURPRISE!” when it does.

Immediately get a restraining order, lest Misery or worse.

As someone who has worked on game mods, nothing ticks me off more than seeing those kinds of questions. Obviously, it’s a form of praise in itself that people care enough to follow your work, but a big reason creators do things for free (in this case, the demo is free), especially if it’s in their leisurely time, is cause they enjoy it. Even polite requests can pile up like buzzing in the ears and make you want to walk away. The best thing we can do is to let Amy write in peace so that she can create her best work without duress. Unfortunately, it’s one of those things that’s hard to fully appreciate until you are on the receiving end yourself.

I have a story that’s 90% finished and even if I could code, I wouldn’t throw it to the hyenas. There’s always something, from “when are you going to update” to “but my favourite character isn’t an RO” to “but I can’t pick any of the insert weapon even though it’s a romance without fighting scenes here things I like” to the "you should add this magic/super power in a story with neither or “why can’t I have a jackal as a pet and shapeshift to play with it” or the one that’s currently getting most on my nerves, “you should add a god mode and cheat menu” and on and on and onandonandonandon…

GOD MODE IS BORING

Best rule of thumb? Unless the author has asked for suggestions or has specifically said “hey, I’ll take some requests” don’t ask for things. There are some exceptions, like maybe there’s something affecting game play, but in general, just don’t. Let the writer write. They know what they want to do with their project (usually) and taking demands from a group of people who in the end have nothing at stake should be the very last thing they have to worry about.

I want a magical jackal pet i can wield as a club and romance when i don’t, or no sale.

Well too bad, you’ll take this Georgian-era romance as it is and like it. It happens during a cold winter weekend and half the characters have lost their luggage. They talk about that a lot.
