Incarnate

Welcome to the story of Incarnate!

This story is still in development, and I’m exploring where it might lead me. If anything about it resonates with you—characters, scenes, or the world itself—I’d appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Should this project continue?
Let me know.

Audrine

When violent death leaves a scar on the soul, some are born carrying the echoes — and the power — of lives that ended in agony.

When someone dies in extreme agony, grief, or rage, their essence doesn’t leave peacefully. It scars the local psychic field, creating a soulprint. The next child born nearby may absorb this trauma and become an Incarnate — someone who unknowingly carries echoes of that soul’s pain.

These echoes manifest as abilities, but also as memories and behavioural bleed from the dead person’s past life.

As an Incarnate, your power is never truly your own.
If you use it too much, you may become the person who died.

When violent death leaves a scar on the soul, some are born carrying the echoes — and the power — of lives that ended in agony.

On your 18th birthday, you awaken to a terrifying truth: the spirit of a long-dead stranger lives inside you. Their memories bleed through your mind. Their rage fuels your powers. Their sins threaten to erase who you are.

To control your abilities, you must confront the shadow of a past life you never lived — a past that may have been monstrous. But the more you unlock, the closer you come to losing yourself completely.

In a world that fears and hunts Incarnates, will you master the echo within… or become the ghost you dread?

Your family has kept secrets. The government is tracking you. A mysterious cult worships the dead person inside you.

And the person you may be becoming…
They were a monster.

Your choices echo louder than you know.
You’ve shaped this journey — and perhaps, something inside yourself.
Thank you for reading.
Thank you for playing.
And thank you for stepping into the dark with me… knowing it might stare back.

Love Interests

In a world where your mind is never truly your own, love is both refuge and risk.
Some see the real you. Some see the weapon.
Each connection pulls you deeper — toward salvation, obsession, or something far less human.

Who will steady your soul… and who will awaken the thing inside you?

Alex (They/Them) – The Rebel with a Burned Past

Sharp-tongued, battle-hardened, and always two steps from vanishing, Alex has spent years surviving off the grid — hiding their powers, and hiding from their Echo.
They don’t trust the government, the cults, or the ghosts in their head… and they’re not sure they trust you either.
But something about you gets under their skin.

If you break through their defenses, you’ll find a fierce partner — or a firestorm waiting to consume you both.

Lena (She/He, Player’s Choice) – The Handler Who Watches Too Closely

On paper, Lena is here to help. Polished, clinical, and unshakably calm, they’ve been assigned to monitor your development — to keep you safe, or keep you contained.
But the line between duty and desire is wearing thin, and you’re not the only one haunted by what your powers could become.
There’s a mind behind those careful eyes, calculating every move… but sometimes, there’s longing, too.

Fall for them, and you might find unexpected tenderness — or wake up wondering if you were ever anything more than an experiment.

Jasper (He/Him) – The Zealot Who Sees a God in You

Charming, magnetic, and absolutely terrifying, Jasper believes your Echo is sacred — and that you’re the chosen one to fulfil some ancient prophecy.
He’ll follow you anywhere. Fight for you. Bleed for you. Worship you.
But fanatics are never safe, even when they’re in love.

Embrace him, and you’ll feel the seductive power of being adored. Resist, and you might have to destroy the one person who believes in you completely.

Riley (She/Her) – The Girl Who Knew You Before the Ghosts

Riley remembers who you were before the voices, before the powers, before your life shattered. She’s smart, kind, and frustratingly normal — the only part of your world untouched by Echoes.
She wants to understand… but she’s terrified of what you’re becoming.
Still, she stays.

Hold onto her, and you might keep a piece of your humanity. But if you lose yourself, you might lose her, too — and there’s no power that can bring her back.

Evren (He/She, Player’s Choice) – The Idol with Cracks Beneath the Smile

Evren is everything you’re supposed to be — elegant, powerful, controlled. The public adores them. The government showcases them. They’re the proof that an Incarnate can be safe.
But behind the performance is a soul worn thin, built on sacrifices no one else sees.
You recognise the pain behind their eyes, because it mirrors your own.

Fall for Evren, and you might find the strength to rewrite what Incarnates are meant to be… or unravel the myth they’ve built to survive.

Seems like an interesting take on reincarnation.

Hey, this is pretty interesting. I’d love for you to continue this. I’m not sure why but it reminded me of those horror/thriller novels I used to read. I’ve bookmarked this for now.

Just wished there were some choices in that prologue, maybe to branch out the story a little if there’s no character creation in it (yet).

This feels more like a proof of concept than anything. I think releasing this could’ve waited until there’s at least some choice involved. I know it’s just the intro, but nothing so far really says IF about this

Thank you so much! That means a lot. I’m really glad the idea caught your interest—there’s something haunting and beautiful about the idea of echoes from past lives, and I’m excited to explore where it leads.

Thank you so much—that truly means the world to me! I’m really honored it reminded you of those old horror/thriller reads (what a compliment!). And you’re absolutely right—more interactive choices are coming very soon. The prologue was meant to set the tone, but the story will definitely open up, especially once the main character steps in fully. I’m so grateful you bookmarked it, and I really hope to keep you hooked as it unfolds!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback—I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts so kindly. You’re absolutely right that it leans more toward a narrative setup right now, and I completely understand wanting to see more interactivity from the start. The choices are definitely coming soon—I just wanted to build a strong emotional foundation first. I hope you’ll stick around to see where it leads, and I truly value your perspective!
