Anything mentioning contact with a mother person is, generally, Connections based (in this case the polar bear shaman). Anything using traditional Christmas symbols is Cheer, and scientific work is Tinkering.
So these are Tinkering, Cheer, and Connections.
There’s not a clear pattern for the cities. It’s mostly associations; New York is elegant, Austria is Cheer-based (many Christmas songs and traditions come from there). It’s a fairly opaque choice, and perhaps one that should be clarified in the future.
@wolfmarelalala I fixed the city issue, and it should show up later in the week when the game next updates. Thanks for sending it to me! I also added an option for Ghost based entirely on your relationship.
Thanks
Later when my MC told Mrs Claus they loved her,Christmas Spirit dropped. Is it because I failed some checking?
And the multi stats checking with glass ghost, what are the 3 choices about?I already failed the first 2 .
For the first question,
There is a check in the ‘gift’ scene (which is a point where you can say you like each other). Mrs. Claus asks you to identify something you’re good at, and if it doesn’t match up, Christmas Spirit goes down.
For the second, the stats are:
Steadfast + Happy Helper, Grumpy Goose + Rustic, and Gluttonous + Elegant. They have to add up to more than 115, unless you successfully
freed Glass Ghost when given the choice, in which case they need to add up to 105.
I went grumpy, open minded, temperate and elegant lol.I’ll try not too extreme next time. One last question, how do I coerce Flame to work for me?
Haha, perhaps I should add another option next update that is based entirely on Glass Ghost relationship to make all playthroughs viable. Your character sounds like a fancy art critic
There is only one choice that affects whether Flame works for you:
if you resurrect flame, the three options you have right away are to make him boss, make you boss, or kill him again. As long as you don’t join Krinkle Co he’ll stay under you.
I was pleased to see this steam review from someone playing post-Christmas:
Honestly? I did one playthrough and this is already one of my favourite games COG has put out.
First off, I love the world. With a christmas game you kind of go in expecting it’ll just be cheesy cliche holiday stuff and nothing more, but the fae world presented here is so much broader and so much more interesting. And there is plenty of cheesy christmas stuff but it’s all done in a way that doesn’t feel cliché or overly silly. It feels like a super deep world that I want to know more about and that’s a huge plus for a fantasy game.
The story itself is very good too! It is very fun and also drags you in emotionally, and even though I’ve only done one playthrough it’s clear that there’s many more paths open to the player, you’re very much not railroaded.
Also, and with a game like this that’s important: the choices were obvious. Sometimes with these games the relation between the choices and the relevant stats can be very misty and unintelligible, but that’s not the case here. There’s obviously a few where I was not sure, but overall, it was very clear, which definitely helped with the enjoyment of the game.
Overall, if you want to buy a game in this genre/from this publisher, this one’s definitely reccommended!
Edit: A group played through this online recently and called it “the most grimdark Christmas story they had ever read.”
Worldbuilding question, why isn’t the MC as powerful as Mrs. Claus? They’ve been around just as long, is it because they never had worshippers?
yeah
Sorry, didn’t see this until now. It’s just luck of the draw; Mrs Claus was born stronger. The 'worshipper’s (i.e. Christmas celebrants) help a lot, but she was just naturally stronger in the beginning.
