"In the Service of Mrs. Claus" -- Save Xmas as her top secret elven agent!

My elf, Menthe Bloomgear, is mainly good at shifting, tinkering and networking. i drew them with a default form of a ball-jointed doll/automoton. They also have a special eye design (gears) that remains even if they shift forms.

That sounds so cool!

I like the idea of our elf always having the same eye color (or design) no matter what shape they take (as long it’s a shape with eyes thinking of the time where my elf took the form of digital data(?)). My elfs name is Lightfinger Snowflake (this is one of the few games where I’m fine with a name offered by the game). Their most used form would be the glass golem as they prefer to rely on subtlety and trickery or shapeshifting, and they like elegancy. Also with a name like Snowflake I think icy blue eyes would be the most fitting for them.

Inconsistency:

I picked negotations, but after that first sentence it jumped to the results of the assassination choice?

Amazon app store will no let me buy the game it keeps saying cannot process purchase

Thank you, I will look into that. In general you should send bug reports to “support AT choiceofgames dot com”, since they are aggregated together and seen by the whole team. The screenshot is especially helpful!

@LJ_Phoneix That’s wonderful to hear!

@Tpryor I’m not sure what’s going on there. That’s another issue for the support email, I think!

Is that option when our elf was left alone to deal with Phil after Mrs. Claus and our elf dealt with Heracles? The scene in my screenshot happened much later after the big battle against Flame when the only remaining opponent was Krinkle Corp (without Heracles). The choice there was about what to do with Phil: choice A was to try negotations with him (that was what Mrs. Claus suggested too on the page before my screenshot), choice B was to send my minion to assassinate him and uh, I don’t remember what choice C was, but I don’t remember any lying option there. I picked the first one and I think the sentence in my screenshot about how Claus is pleased with my choice shows that’s correctly in place, but after that it acted as if I picked the second choice. So I think that must be a bug not something intented.

Anyway I just finished the game and I loved it, tho I admit that bug almost made me quit. I mean such drastic change from what the player intented must be jarring enough for any roleplayer.
But after a bugfix update I’m definitely gonna go and replay again since it seems there are so many things to explore in this game.

I couldn’t find out the bug. It looks ok to me.

Ohh… maybe another (*goto final_choices) should be added after the “Mrs. Claus smiles at you, pleased you’ve accepted the recommendation.”

There’s a lovely review of this game here: https://www.thegamer.com/in-service-of-mrs-claus-review-pc/

The author pointed out that:

Although there are often many options available regarding how to proceed, they provide a broad range of actions and expressions of emotion for your character. This is one of the game’s strong suits because the development of a character feels both unique and tailored to your individual choices. On subsequent playthroughs, I began the game with the intention of developing characters that occupied extreme opposite positions in temperament and morality. The result is a wildly different experience each time, both in the progression of the story and how the elf character is represented.

I really think that is the best way to get a lot out of this, trying really different stuff each time. I don’t know if anyone’s found the ending where you break out of jail with an inflatable tinfoil robot army!

@Kalpana Oh wow, I completely forgot I put him in. Did you see the successful or unsuccessful Ares? I think unsuccessful is more interesting…

So…anyone romance Flickering Flame yet? Is it any good?

Answers will sway my to buy list.

Well, I would say relationship with Flickering Flame is not fluffy and usual kind of normal, but I liked it because it is unusual and I liked his type of badness.

He is too bossy to MC and likes them more for their success, in that regard he is very much similar to ms Claus, at the beginning of relationship, in my opinion, I personally found it a bit annoying. But you can end as equals and terribly in love.

Though game is really great and unique on its own, I would recommend it even without romances. I ended a lone wolf on my first play-through and still enjoyed the game terribly much.

Ohh…hm. It sounds interesting!
Can anyone tell me about the Mini Me achievement? Does the character…birth a clone or something?

According to Brian, you can get that achievment in chapter 11. If you have high trickery stat you can gift some of it to Cai to create a new body when you recruit him.
