"In the Service of Mrs. Claus" -- Save Xmas as her top secret elven agent!

That’s a very interesting idea! Although, I’d love to do more work in this setting one day, and I’d especially be interested in a Halloween-based game involving the Spiders.

And the Emerald Empress may not be under the power of the extra-dimensional being. She herself isn’t stronger than that being, but the Empress is one of the weakest of her kind, so weak that she takes an interest in mortal affairs. Destroying her would attract too much attention.

I see. Makes sense. Thanks for the thorough answer. Also I guess since our MC is also an elf it’d be a bit weird for them to have human-like preferences.

Ok so going in I will say I didn’t know what to expect since I don’t celebrate Christmas, but it did sound interesting.

But the fact that by the end I had become Christmas elf Batman who had a plan for everything and connections for info everywhere, then at a point had made a makeshift machine gun that shot bullets of despair to singlehandedly make a last stand against The Nightmare King’s army made me love this whole game.

Also I never thought I would ever say that I experienced that in a game…

Thank you, that really means a lot to me. And your character sounds pretty awesome!

@Brian_Rushton Interesting. I do like the idea of Santa being an ascended mortal. It makes sense since he was Saint Nick.

I’d love to see a prequel set in this universe where we get to see how Christmas was established, and get to know Santa’s character before he died. Would also love to experience Mrs. Claus’ love for him firsthand. Could also help build upon MC and Mrs. Claus’ love for each other, and see where along the timeline she actually started having feelings for MC.

Yeah same here. I figure what’s the point of playing a game about Christmas if I was gonna just do away with it anyway. So I played a very loyal but grumpy type elf who still really cared for everyone oddly enough. That’s why I compared my character to Batman lol

it’s probably me, but I think Diana is really shellfish and power hungry creature just like Loki. They are the two sides of the same coin. Diana didn’t love Santa. She married him to increase her own power and prestige. Probably killed him when he was against some of her idea. She probably wanted to use christmas in order to preserve herself. And she doesn’t love MC. They were together from the beginning of the time. If there were any romance it would have happened already. It’s also related to her self-serving.

@dillpickle1996 @Elseguard That’s really interesting! That explains why so many people are taking the ‘good’ path on the Steam achievements. I have to admit, I’m pro Christmas in all my playthroughs, too. But dating and marrying Flickering Flame can be a lot of fun!

@Kalpana is right about a lot of things, and I think that gives one reason to do the anti-Christmas run.

Interestingly enough, you can actually go beyond saving Christmas: you can make Christmas the most powerful force in the world, ruling as the all-powerful Yule Emperor.. Which, @Kalpana, I forget actually does give you a way to subdue the council of Seven.

But the only to achieve that level of domination is to have a wish granted after a major defeat.

@undead Thanks for your kind words!

I still plan to do more playthroughs like I do for all the games i end up liking the world of. I’m giving myself some time before jumping back in though. I really enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

I have to say this is one of the most interesting games ive read here in a long time. Somehow you managed to combine high fantasy with intriguing lore as well as weave a fascinating political allegory. Have to say I love this title and look forward to more writing from you

Having a lot of fun so far! This was a nice surprise game I didn’t see coming. I’m curious who all the romance options are?

there are currently 3 ro. Mrs Claus, Flickering flame, Candid. You can only truly be loved by Candid. Other 2 will use you for their own purposes. Those 2 will be dead or almost dead. And when you revive them, instead of being thankful they will break up if you don’t give them the Christmas. Even though the Christmas has chosen you at that point. But be careful with candid. If you are not serious about her, she will return to her ex lover.

Does anyone know how to get the achievement A Mini Me?

It’s achievable in Ch. 11.

During your recruitment scene with Cai the magician, you have the option of gifting some of your trickery score to create a new body for Cai. You need to have a high trickery score for it to work.

Would that mean we practically handicap ourself as we sacrifice a strong stat for this? That hardly seems like a good deal imo.

The overall change is %-10 (and only if you’re already high), so it will most strongly affect you if you’re around 75, since the hardest tests in the game are around 65 to 75.

Whether it’s a good deal or not depends on the person. About 12% of Steam Players have reached the achievement, so it seems like a viable, though less popular, choice.

For me personally, it’s not my playstyle to purposely decrease stats, but I enjoy the results (as much as it’s possible for anyone to enjoy their own writing!)

@Elseguard mentioned having a ‘Batman’ type stealth elf, and another player emailed me about image inspiration for the glass golem character.

It sounds like some of you have really clear mental pictures of your characters. What do they look like?
