Eh that’s more of a you thing if you wish that particular playthrough to be your cannon timeline. An if your tying it to the whole compromise thing in your mind that’s also your perspective and as another poster said for the MC there perspectives can be completely different from the nobels.
Its not some conflict in writing that is flawed that at some point your words seemed to suggest. Yet really its not that big of thing afterall it just makes the world a living breathing thing that characters within it can have entirly different view points on a MCs actions. If I recall correctly in one of your previous posts you mentioned roughly something about wondering if they will make a return to court really depends on if they survive honestly if they stay neutral and don’t cause problems. Really depends on how a MC and Elya choose to handle his outburst beyond what they have allready done, and weather or not he does something like join rade. For if he fights against the marshal and elya and his side loses then it wont be good times for him at all. Same for anyone else that fights for a losing side in a fight in a world where there can be brutal expectations.
Hello all! I have been on a singing tour for the past while (long story, don’t ask), and have had next to no time to work on ITUO. However, progress has started back up today. The next chapter is DONE with all three major paths and I am now just working through the Placeholders and alternate routes. I wanted the update to be out before Halloween, but it’ll likely instead be released about halfway through November.
All is forgiven. Though I too and curious about your singing tour I thought that was a weird and wonderful new direction for ITUO for a second there that would be a hell of a twist!
I’m part of a choir that tours. I’ve actually been in a choir since I started ITFO way back when, but now I’m in a different one. It takes up a lot of time and doesn’t pay well, but it gives me the opportunity to do cool stuff like that.
Maybe I’ll sing a rendition of the Black Raven song and post it somewhere.

I don’t know, I feel Rade is considerably more malicious then Uly (even at their worst). Uly’s most offputting trait is their utter near psychotic obsession with the MC, but other then that their actual motives seem to be ostensibly selfless. They want to stop a apocalypse they feel only themselves and the MC are placed to actually have have a chance at preventing.
Rade is ambition incarnate. His only desire is the throne and he doesn’t care how many former friends and comrades he has to mulch between his boot to get to that outcome. He will drown Kanton in unfathomable slaughter just so he can sit upon its broken wreck. Even when it comes to his relationship to the Marshal, his very first thought upon finding out they’re in play is to wonder if he can subjugate them. He gestures vaguely at some higher motives regarding the treatment of Border War veterans but clearly holds human life in such little regard to such a degree that it makes it feel unlikely these are actual sentiments he holds.
I tend to also think Uly’s distaste of authority also feels antithetical to Rade’s all consuming desire to claim it.
It’s an idea that’s been floating in my head for a while, especially after my friend said the way I draw Rade makes it seem like he’s wearing steel plated thigh highs, but I’ve got other art I wanna do first
How can Rade be malicious if he’s perfect and can do no wrong?
