I, the Unbroken One [ITFO2] [Chapter 3 Full Public Release] [September 30th, 2026]

Congratulations on the Chapter 3 public release! The expansion of the Loyalist route and deep branching logic sound incredible, and I am looking forward to diving back into the Marshal’s story.

In my head, Rade is a tragic hero trying to protect himself from a villainous deranged stalker

Of course, he doesn’t realize that the Cowboy Marshal is stalking him because he’s hopelessly in love with him. He is completely oblivious to the Cowboy Marshal’s feelings for him and thinks the Cowboy Marshal wants to kill him. I imagine if he learns the truth, he would be baffled and disturbed but still manipulate the Cowboy Marshal to his advantage.

This doesn’t stop Rade from having an affair with Vuk.

I finally made Rade mpreg

Why any incarnation of the Marshal would ever name their kid Mira, is the bigger question.

He’s just a huge momma’s boy

I don’t know why, but this makes me wonder how the Marshal would interact with characters from other stories (of Louis’ or not)…

The issue is we all on deeper, instinctual level think a military commander missing his fingers makes a better divinely appointed monarch than a teenage girl. To some extent it’s shocking many people in this world support her at all.

That is because in this game’s world it’s not “we all” who think that disgraced bastard makes a better divinely appointed monarch.

For this matter, it’s not “we all” even outside of the game’s world. That’s more of your personal take you’re projecting on population at large. I definitely don’t feel like a soldier with PTSD and self-harm tendencies makes for a better ruler than a person with actual education about politics etc and not hampered with these drawbacks. Something the game even demonstrates to you, with Elya being a very capable ruler with just a little bit of common-sense advice and practice.

Medieval governments are largely forced based at their core, the inability to weld force undermines a monarch. Hence the troubled general is obviously better positioned. Elya would be entirely boned absent the general’s intervention.

Eh mayhaps not what we see in game is largely dependant on how we sculpt her path in the first game and even then there are things working in her favor no matter what we do even if someone else is trying to use her for there own gain as well. An even if defeating rade happens isnt a guarantee there wont be conflict after based off the various things we’ve seen in game. Yet your correct though when it comes to projecting power if a monarchy or would be monarchy cant project strength then they will be ether Wipeout or little more then figure heads.

Elya quite literally wields force through people who are suited to it and who are her subordinates. Like it was done by plenty of medieval monarchs. A general, and preferably not troubled one is a good tool for this job (since that’s the actual job they’ve learned to do) but this doesn’t mean they’re thanks to this better qualified for a work that encompasses much more than just ordering a force of troops.

Consider e.g. historical equivalent of such arrangement – Belisarius who was actual magister militum under Emperor Justinian I. While he’s recognized as a very skilled military commander, it was Justinian who called the shots about where to apply that force, and is considered one of most prominent Roman emperors, even though he wasn’t a general himself, troubled or not, and never personally participated in the military campaigns his general(s) carried out.

(there’s also separate matter to keep in mind, and it’s the fact that a monarch who personally wields the force on the battlefield is also putting themselves at elevated risk of having their rule ended prematurely when things on said battlefield go pear-shaped, as they often do. In this sense it is as much of a risk/drawback as it is of possible advantage)

Largely dependent on what path we take. Loyalist and perhaps Usurper routes are the ones where we can get Kanton to be unified once more, and I would say Loyalist is more likely since Elya is the one nobles see as the rightful heir.

Further unification is dependent on how the Marshal/Elya react after the end of a victorious war. Put too little pressure and you’re letting the nobles know “you can try taking over, consequences for failure are light though.”

But going on massacres makes both the nobles and populace think “oh shit, we have a psychopath on the throne, we need to get rid of them.” Not to mention that we will have defectors from our army for this.

Why does the Marshal make such a big deal about their fingers when Josuke already saved them from Mira?

It’s finally done: the mission, the nightmares. Chapter Three’s alternative routes have been completed and are available for one week early access on Patreon.

Thank you for your patience and your support! I’ve had a lot on my plate: writing both IF, a traditional manuscript, and for work. My inspiration for ITUO dried up and required an emergency binge-reading of War and Peace to recover. My traditional novel manuscript is a whole other mess I’ll report on more if I ever stop rewriting the draft.

I’m actually excited to dive into Chapter 4. That is where a lot of the build-up I’ve been plotting will finally pay-off (and the divergences for Regent, Monarch, and Loyalist will become even more daunting :sad_but_relieved_face::sad_but_relieved_face:)

It’s okay Bacon, I believe in you, not many would’ve been brave enough to write a sequel with three radically different paths, but you were, and I believe in your skill to make them all distinctly satisfying and/or painful.

ohh yeah let´s go, by the way, did you already decided about the secret RO yet ? Can you tell us about it ? Where would it be a new male or a female ( aside the new F/F character of course ) ?

I thought it was confirmed the new secret RO was going to be the WP grenade from Whiskey Four.
