I have figured out the point where I am going to cut the chapter. It is actually going to be quite soon, so the grunt writing will be finishing up earlier than expected. There is a lot of code, lot of variations, and I haven’t even gone back and added the regent and usurper forms yet. But progress continues steadily, and I’m excited to see what everyone thinks!
Hopefully I will have the chapter out before Halloween, but no promises lol.

There’s one major reason: the chapter opens with a potential dialogue with pretty much every named character. This includes Elya, who has a very large dialogue. Also Mira and Vedran and Velinor. So if you’ve usurped Elya, killed Mira, killed Vedran, lost Velinor, you have way fewer people to talk to.

That and Velinor is dead on the Regent route, as is Elya.

Yup. And while I have scenes where Darin mourns Velinor and the MC mourns Elya written, routes where characters still… exist will by their very nature have more content.

Now I wonder if Obren and M!Marshal get their big romantic moment in Chapter 2 while the others have it in Chapter 3 (for the F/F romance, it can start).

Holy hell, I had no clue Velinor could die D: I am never playing regent route (Elya dying seems interesting but nooo not Velinor). There are two people in this IF I never want to see the death of: Darin and Velinor. I would let everyone else die just to save those two.

Looking forward to this. I the Forgotten One was so well written, every character was compelling and the story and game play was top notch. I remember being on the edge of my seat for days and hooked into the story. I hope to redo that with ITUO.
