I, the Forgotten One Release Thread (1.2) [SEQUEL WIP UNDERWAY]

Excuse me has anyone here gotten this achievement, A Good Day to Die in chap 9. I’m curious, is it about Marshall’s death? How do you do it?

as far as I recall, yes. If you face Rada alone and fail.

Wait how you do that? He always run away when my marshall join the fight

maybe when you‘re too good at that  if your final battle fails and you decide to face Rada but you do it alone in the end… you‘ll face him and his men alone and, well, obviously cannot win then (which I hoped you still could, but I got the response today that you obv can‘t - sigh)

Oh I see :flushed: I’ll keep that in mind, thank you for the replies

You need to be very jealous of Elya’s life and express that whenever possible both internally and externally (raise Elya_Envy above 4). While keeping Elya’s strength as a ruler low helps (she was at zero Strength in my Bastard King run), note that none of the envy choices are mutually exclusive with the choices that make her a stronger queen—in fact, tearing into her in Chapter 4 when she’s distressed and grieving for the dead for wallowing in her misery while people die because of her inaction (the fourth option, which is grayed out unless you have high Envy) raises her strength as a ruler. I suspect Elya’s strength as a ruler will have effects in the Usurper route as well as the Marshal route.

In Chapter 11, the Bishop of Wrido will say that the Marshal could be “re-honored” and that if they were “re-honored” they would supersede Elya in the line of succession. The seed is planted then in the Marshal’s head. In the preparation for Elya’s coronation, contact the Bishop and start making plans. Here, the game will give you multiple off-ramps from the path you are on (starting with talking to the Bishop). Take none of them. Enjoy being the Bastard King of Kanton.

As for the final battle, there will be a patch soon that will fix all the final battle problems. Right now, it helps to have a larger army with elite units (a large retinue, lots of cavalry, 800 rangers (half of them survived), and regimentation 2, and doing well at the Atiming (while I could have gotten a total victory on that playthrough, I wanted Elya to be a warrior queen) won the day for me). Tactics specialization is also great for preserving your army up to this point (there is also the Tactics route for Chapter 9 and bleeding Rade’s army dry). In the Marshal’s decisive charge, play to your strengths and the strengths of your personal weapon (my poleaxe-wielding main Marshal supported the infantry to great effect).

@Marx041 With Ciril? Okay, here’s how to do it.

For maximum bonuses, have Elya be at Strength 4+ (the maximum you can have at this point is Strength 5), then support her in the second phase of negotiation (the second option). While this costs you 1 Elya_Strength point, it squeezes the most resources out of Ciril. The third option, telling Elya where to push Ciril but letting her do all the talking, doesn’t cost you a Strength point (doesn’t get you one either) and only yields slightly fewer resources than the second option. It is possible to cause the Atiming River Massacre with the third option.

If Elya isn’t at Strength 4+, you can salvage negotiations and get a good amount of resources if you play a Leadership Marshal (same as Option 3 wherein Elya has Strength 4+). However, he initially looks to the Marshal rather than the Queen to shake on the deal…

can anyone help me with the negotiation with a minor lord?

Which choice you choose during final war (tactical)?

There are two routes: facing Rade in a final open battle (while this isn’t the special Tactics route, the Tactics specialization helps a lot up to this point), and the special Tactics route, which is an extended campaign of guerilla warfare—the very thing that Rade didn’t wish to face in Krorid. You get on the Tactics route in Chapter 8 (you propose it). In Chapter 9, the game provides you an off-ramp (a chance to choose the open battle instead). Don’t take it.

As for what choices are needed to win on the Tactics route/how to bleed Rade dry, there is a patch coming that will fix the route. I’ll wait until then to talk about it.

Does that help?

@Sarinya_Pumma No, he has neither. In the WIP thread he contemplated it but decided against making either. I am unsure if that’s still the case.

Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Sokol ever got a proper introduction when I picked to enact the Formation Fighting doctrine in Chapter 4. He is just all the sudden a character in Chapter 5 when I attacked the foraging party.

Im having trouble with winning the battle on chapter 9 with the warrior route. Can anyone give me some advise on how to build my army and what choices to pick?

I could be wrong so take it with a grain of salt. However if I do remember correctly the choices I made were as follows:

Do the guerilla warfare option for the final battle through having tactics. Then choose to burn down the supply depot when you raid the enemy camp. Then when choosing how to do the guerilla warfare I chose to not to waste the lives of my soldiers and to target their supply lines instead of the men.

Edit:

After reading some of the code for chapter 9 it seems that you also need to have a decent amount of calvary to increase the damage you do to the rebel supply, based upon the choices you made and how much calvary you have you do more damage and you need a total of four points of “RebelSupplyDamage” to be able to get the achievement. Furthermore it seems I was incorrect if you act aggressively you also get an extra point.
So to get the achievement you need a few things here, Firstly, you need to have sufficient calvary greater or equal to 2.5 (+1) You need to act aggressively and target the supply lines (+2), and when you first attack the enemy camp you need to burn down the supply depot (+1). These four together should give you four points and net you the achievement.

Really wish there was an autowin choice. I fully failed no matter what I did.

I really hope unbroken one gives us many opportunities to get cavalry because my weapons character blew everything on archers and retinue to win the final battle and the enemies we’re going up against in the next game are going to be nearly impossible to beat without cavalry

TWO POINT FIVE CAVALRY?! Please for the love of god tell me that counts heavy cav. Cause I don’t think it’s even feasible to get that achievement without spending ALL your points on light cav.

Edit: No it seems i’m wrong, “EffectiveCavalry” seems to only count the light cavalry units as there is an “EffectiveHCavalry”

The best way to historically beat cavalry based armies was either similar mobility based calvary that could effectively skirmish with them, or to use area denial warfare with pikes/spears and missile units who use both terrain and items such as pavise shields or caltrops to control the way that the enemy can move around you and then you use the missile units to outshoot the calvary. (Note: missile in this context means archers/crossbowmen). So you don’t necessarily need a lot of calvary to fight them.
