Has anyone created a Tumblr account because of IF?

I made a tumblr several months ago with the express purpose of using it as a link to other interactive fiction. It can be very good for this, but that depends more on the user than anything. There are several archives, and a few newsletters, but the primary benefit of following IFs on tumblr is being able to see updates and interact with the authors.

Yeah I did, and so far I like tumblr it’s easy to use. The only thing that could use improvement is the search feature though.

I made a Tumblr when I realised that there were some fans of Creme de la Creme on there, and I’ve had a lot of fun using it. It’s a nice middle-ground between a blog (where it feels like there’s more of a need to be formal) and microblogging social media where there’s a lot of noise and you can’t post long-form thoughts.

Agreed with all the other comments about financial stuff, it’s best to do your homework thoroughly before spending money - good life advice in general, really!

The IF What’s New zine has lots of good stuff in, and includes a lot of IF outside of the style of CoG/CoG-esque Twines that are most popular on Tumblr, which I like seeing - I appreciate the variety. Interact-if has stopped doing new posts now, but there is a big archive of recommendations.

Really? It was my favorite to keep up to date with IFs! Do you happen to know why they stopped?

Yes, unfortunately they announced it last month:

Ah thank you!

I know that this might be a bit off topic
But I wanted to ask what do you people think about Discord ?

Some authors are using it nowdays and I have seen them being more active on it than on the forum.
And so I wanted to ask does it really benefit the writer to have an account for their IF on so many apps ?

I created an account there precisely to follow the work of the authors not only on this site but I ended up discovering several good itch.io games

Whatever you want to interest me, I think it’s worth it.

I gotta ask something ya all are there extra choice based game’s in Tumblr that I can’t find here?

Yes. There’s a lot of games that aren’t Choicescript and instead offered in Twine/RenPy/etc that are pretty much solely hosted on Itch.io or any IF archive/comp site so you won’t hear word of it here until it gets relatively popular, if at all. They tend to be advertised on Tumblr most of the time, so it’s a great way to find and keep up with non-Choicescript games.

However, I will say, in terms of choice based games with size, scope and features similar to what you see in COG or Hosted Games that are actually completed? There’s significantly less of that.

There’s only one or two I can think of that have actually been finished
