Also glad you enjoyed the Morgana dialogues… In my current plan for part 2, there’s a substantial segment where Morgana and Guen will have to do some problem-solving, just the two of them.
@jeantownsend Thanks for the shout out! I’m glad my suggestions were so helpful. I’m more of an Arthur girl myself; I have a thing for adorable, wide-eyed beta heroes. I am looking forward to playing a version where Lancelot becomes my enemy and I can either beat him up or banish him from the realm. That would be an interesting change from the way the story usually goes.

I was curious, How are you going to release the game? Are you going to do books 2 or 3 and then release it? In clusters or all at once?
@Victoriya In my dream-world, I’d like to finish the whole thing, however long it takes, and then let people play book 1 for free as a demo, after which they could choose either to buy the whole thing (maybe for 3.99) or to play book 2 for .99, and then book 3 for another $.99, etc.
That said, it’s going to be years before I have the whole thing finished – an optimistic estimate would be a book a year, unless I suddenly become independently wealthy. So my intention right now is that once I finish book 3, which should end with some good closure according to the current plan, I’ll seriously consider releasing just the first three books. It depends on how much retcon I think I might need… I’m worried that once I develop, say, some faction of knights in book 6, I’ll realize that in order to gain their loyalty, Guen should have had some particular stat or option all along. I think I’ll have a better feel for that once I write more, so the end of book 3 seems like a good place to make that decision.

I need this game so much. Oh the angst! My queen DOES love Arthur, but more as a friend or brother. She really wants to just be with Lancelot but neither of them wants to hurt Arthur and Guen thinks of marriage as sacred. As such, she will deny her feelings for Sir Lancelot and do her best to remain ever faithful to her husband even if it hurts her. She only ever wanted to be a good queen to her people.

@potato, yeah, it’s not going to be good, unless maybe Guen hates both Arthur and Morgana and would enjoy seeing them both freak out a lot. But if she’s romantically involved with both of them, she might have to make some tough decisions about who needs her support more. Welsh is so gorgeous :), and I like the Welsh spelling, too… but almost certainly too confusing for the casual reader. 
Bioware has owned my soul ever since Baldur’s Gate. They have their flaws (*cough*DA2repeaterdungeons*cough*), but I’m willing to forgive them a LOT (*cough*hideousclothingdesign*cough*) because they make characters a priority, and they write their characters so well that a lot of people seem to forget the characters are fictional. People argue passionately (sometimes frighteningly so) over characters like Anora and Anders, and all I can think is, that shows how real those characters are – in real life, almost nobody is universally loved, because people respond to things so differently. So when those arguments happen, I am deeply, deeply impressed with Bioware’s character construction, and I can only hope to achieve some of that with my own characters. That’s why I’m so happy to hear that some people like my Lancelot and some people don’t – that’s exactly what I want!
And now I’m totally shipping @MaraJade and Zevran, because that makes way too much sense.
@ceecrab, I’ve been thinking I need a more casual tumblr for following and reblogging and little personal updates and random thoughts. Right now I have jeantownsend.tumblr.com just sitting there doing nothing, so I might start doing some more personal stuff on that account soon. The newarcana one is (obviously) supposed to be more formal, so that people who aren’t on tumblr can put it in their RSS without getting confused (plus it shows up on my Amazon and Goodreads pages). But yeah, that will probably happen.
Ah, Tom Hiddleston… why can’t all actors be as wonderfully gracious as he is in real life… he does give me hope for humanity sometimes.
@jeantown great part of my girls marry alistair and have Zevran like lover. And well my boys romance Leliana and murder Alistair . Yeah 99% Times i play human but my elves become alistair consort .
I play DAO 28 times :(( yeah I know i have a problem . But DA2 i hate Carver only 2 i couldnt more. But Fenris could be as revengeful and he glows in the dark … Zevran in DA2 had acid in face i believe he was a troll literally, why this little troll speak like Zevran? O-o Oh no he ate Zevran.
And about your game to return of topic I miss so much a grey characterlike bioware use. All are super light than i couldn’t feel empathy with them, they haven’t flaws. So i would wait to someone Dark appeared to romance him her Oh, I could imagine Zebran trying to assassinate me and i defeated him … Imagine Zevran in Camelot :x
I can’t stand Alistairs face in DA2 it looks like his nose has been replaced with a tomato. I usually put my thumb in front of the screen so I can act like its his Origins face. And don’t even get me started on the redesign of the elves and Merills voice change…

@MaraJade That is really interesting… I’m surprised you don’t kill Alistair in all your games; he seems like more of a good guy than you would like… maybe you’re not 100% evil after all. Or maybe you just really want to be queen?
That is an extremely good point about my characters. I was thinking about that last night, actually, since I was contemplating a certain character who will show up in part 3, and I realized that my current concept for him isn’t different enough from Arthur and Lancelot – he’s just too well-intentioned, as he is, and I will have to change him. And that made me think about how, yes, all of my characters in part 1 are “good.” No shades of grey, really; just different shades of good.
But that’s part of the tragedy of the Arthurian narrative: in most versions, things start out with a lot of positive energy, with people who really believe that they’re doing good. It’s not until the years start to pass that the shades of grey set in, and eventually the tragedy that this king who thought he was going to change the world ends up not leaving much of a legacy, other than a lot of stories.
So if you’re looking for shades of grey, there are two main places where you’ll find them:

Guenevere herself, if you want to play her that way. Guenevere has often been blamed for the downfall of Camelot. I want to give her various ways to bring that about deliberately, if that’s what she wants. (Or, conversely, to try to prevent it.)

Changes in the other main characters as time passes. Will Arthur really be able to remain as idealistic as he is if Guen doesn’t support him in it? What will happen to Lancelot’s good nature if he’s stuck loving Guen from afar for years and years, and she doesn’t reciprocate? What will happen to Morgana if she continues to be the pragmatist in a world that doesn’t always want to hear what she has to say? If I’m able to write this the way I want, the changes you can inspire in the other characters will be exponentially more complex than “hardening” Alistair.
…so you don’t get characters who come to you already dark-spirited, but you should get the chance to corrupt their souls yourself, which to my mind, ought to be much more satisfying if you really want to be evil.
@Scrivener Few things have challenged my loyalty to Bioware more than the DAO character redesigns in DA2. The Alistair and Zevran faces both made me want to cry. I could forgive a lot of the cost-cutting (blame EA), but Bioware games are all about the characters, and I felt betrayed that they had put so little effort into those characters who mattered so much. I would rather not have had those cameos at all.

I’m going to agree with you on BioWare and their characters because I can never do a renegade playthrough in ME, nor could I be rivals with anyone in Dragon Age! I don’t know why but I don’t ever want to be mean to anyone in a game because I seem to care too much about them even though they’re not real!
@Scrivener I would but I’m not sure if I should in fear I would face the wrath of any of the moderators! Things will surely pick up when Dragon Age: Inquisition comes out, I hope!

Edit: Also, one of the biggest issues I have with BioWare is character creation! While I’m happy that we get to create our characters, I think that it could be better overall. I need better hairstyles and did you notice the eyebrows for Shepard in ME? Her eyebrow game was weak and thank god for mods!
And hopefully there won’t be anymore Yaoi hands and wooden teeth! I hated it that after a battle in DA 2, their teeth were bloody like they literally drank the blood of their enemies!
I’m a big fan of otome games and I really enjoyed this demo! Can’t wait to play the whole thing!
@jeantown I love hardened Alistair, not because him but I could make him a badass. And yes, i marry him for the sake of power thats why he die in all my male parties, I marry Anora .
And your game if i could corrupted someone all be fine. And All bioware fans i recomend you doing a dark side play in kotor or jade emblem they put so much efford in dark paths from little quest is amazing from poison a chef with his own food to make a friend killed another … The only game i couldnt be evil its M3 i couldnt kill eve Wrex ,Grunt, they are my friends I cry with Mordin . I help Tali and Legion and geths quarians are friends . Also who could let Conrad Verner die ,lol I love conrad, And i help the ticket guy in citadel. So yeah the **** ending destroy my faith in bioware. for me my shep is alive and Kaiden was about save her.
But i must stop sorry bioware was with Bethesda my favourite videogame makers.
