Ah, thanks! I’m glad to hear you liked it, and I’ll go back and search for those typos. I tend to lose the ends of words sometimes, and the letter n anywhere, because my keyboard is… not great. Very helpful to know I have to go hunt that stuff down.
This is definitely the aim. My goal is for myth knowledge to be kind of a bonus sometimes, but also possibly misleading sometimes, and for people without it to be able to play without confusion.
Also, re: the yikes qualities, that’s relieving to hear. That was kinda the biggest hurdle I was anticipating from go, and I think it’s especially delicate in the early chapters, so the feedback is much appreciated!
Oh this is a fabulous idea, and it might help the non-buffs out there get oriented. Thanks, Eiwynn, I’ll do that!
@Lotta These are all great suggestions and I’ll happily implement them; thank you so much!
I´ve always loved greek mythology, so I was excited to play this… and it did not disappoint! The demo was great and I speacially liked meeting Makaria and Kerberos!
Im not sure if you’re looking for feedback but I wanted to let you know I found a couple grammar and spelling issues. You’re has a space between y and ou’re. Near the end I believe environment is misspelled.
Yay!! I’m so glad this has made it to the forums! I’ve been following on Tumblr since you posted the prologue and I’m glad that other people can also experience this! I can’t wait for the next update!!
I’m not really a fan of greek mythology, but I decided to check it out just in case it’s good. And boy is it good! You have a genuinely nice style of writing that pulled me in and the story flows so well. I’m jealous of your story pacing powers and your writing style…
I enjoyed every moment of it so far. Everyone is so delightful, even asshole Zeus
Hades and Hermes already having an escape plan was wonderful. I love it.
I-I think this w.i.p is actually one of my favourites right now. I don’t know what to do with myself anymore…
Also, I appreciate the option to be autistic or autistic-coded and that one of the characters is too (I read through the Tumblr). Is it Hades? It might sound weird but it means a lot to me especially because it’s done subtly and it’s not, like, a big deal or the sole focus of something. It didn’t make me feel weird or ashamed, it made me feel normal for once. Thank you for that.
Huge fan of Greek Mythology here, loving your take of the classic Persephone and Hades tale.
Just out of curiosity, since Dionysus is one of the default names available, does that mean that he does not exist in this alternate mythology? Or are you merging his character, similarly to another god you previously mentioned?
This is easily one of the best demos I’ve ever read and is definitely one of my favorites! I’m so excited to see where this story goes! I’m hoping beyond hope that this story comes to full fruition and is published on hosted games so I can throw my money at it!
I absolutely love what you’ve written so far (and knowing you’re the co-author of Diaspora, I was already expecting good things). You’ve smoothed over not-so-great aspects of the mythology well, and it’s clear how much thought has gone into making the player feel comfortable, allowing a wide range of reactions/personalities, and offering inclusion and diversity. I’ve already played through twice, because after the first time I read some comments and realised I’d missed the chance to pet a good dog, and this needed rectification.
Can’t wait to spoil Zeus’ horrible plan by falling in love with Hades and cherishing him forever (though Charon also seems lovely).
Also I’m lowkey relieved because I have an unposted WiP that’s based on the Persephone myth too, but it heads off in some totally different directions to this, haha…
Although, I’m not gonna lie, Hades is… softer than I was expecting? Maybe it’s because he doesn’t want to freak MC out, but I’ve noticed he speaks softly a lot, doesn’t comment on much (even when my MC stared at him then gave him a lil wink lol) and didn’t snap at/express any form of discontent… when, shoot, I forget their name… Charon’s counterpart… was kinda hostile when MC arrived. So now I’m wondering if he’s actually just that gentle cause if so… I might have to become team Hermes or something because, even though we haven’t seen a lot of him yet, I get the feeling that he has quite a big personality lol
Meh… I did multiple play throughs to try out different responses to Alekto’s hostility and none of them escalated so, at least for now, MC seems safe.
However, that might be more about the fact that Hades would probably not be happy with Alekto if any harm came to MC and less about Alekto not being dangerous to MC lol.
It is? I apologise I didn’t know that, though thank you for bringing it my attention. I try to give useful feedback but occasionally I make a mistake. I won’t make that mistake again.
No worries! I was just pointing it out. To be honest, I looked it up myself before posting; I was pretty sure it was a word, but I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t remembering wrong.
Honestly, I was a little bit surprised by this. Considering the fact that he seemed concern about MC comfort/well being before that (for example during the parade).
Nice catch, thank you! And yeah ‘environs’ is kinda a floofy word; I sometimes can’t help myself with those. No worries.
@Ninja1 Regarding the question in your spoiler, yes! Also I’m so glad to hear the rest of that.
He is in fact merged… with the PC haha. There’s some precedent for believing that Dionysus is either a) Hades or b) Persephone, and since I was going for a much broader interpretation of the latter (including one who might be a guy or nonbinary!) I leaned that way.
I love it when a nefarious plan comes back to bite someone.
Well, he does have his ‘hosting guests’ face on at the moment, and there are some circumstances with Alekto. By all means switch to Team Hermes (I have no favorites among my silly characters!), but Hades does not wear all his facets on his sleeve, so digging may reveal some others, is all I’ll say there.
Oh he talked to her about it. Just didn’t upbraid her in public.
I’m loving this discussion though y’all. I appreciate the feedback so much, too. You’re great and thanks for being here!
Oh no, not ready to defect to Team Hermes yet. Just was expecting more of a “bad boy” vibe from Hades so I’m surprised lol. I’ll definitely wait til she knows him better.
Rereading the demo and I’m happy to see the NB and Trans inclusivity in regards to the MC and the RO’s, I noticed it first time round of course but I just wanted to call attention it and give praise.
Curious to find out what it will take to get Alekto to warm up and trust us as some people are mentioning team Hades or team Hermes, but I’m a bit of a sucker for the resident grouch in these games.
