College classes? What are you studying?
Getting a Bachelor’s in psychology, with a concentration in Forensic Psych. But this term is Sociology and The Psychology of Aging.
Wow, somehow you just got even more awesome. Forensic psychology was my dream field for a long time.
Congratulations, you did indeed write “Anything”!
Joking aside, remember that writing is writing, and rewriting is still writing. Good Luck!
“There’s no point polishing a piece before you’ve had someone cast fresh eyes on it.” Okay yeah this is something I really need to remember. And I love that punchy ending line, really ties the whole thing together

I keep reading “IT Branch” as “IF Branch” and now I’m picturing a branch where the MC is explicitly an IF writer.
The hope is actually to use it for my undergrad to then go to law school. We have, like, not nearly enough public defenders where I live, and people deserve an advocate, so I may as well step up.
I’m trying to get into using the forums, so hello! I’ve been lurking for a bit, but I’ve never been sure how to contribute haha.
The last few weeks I’ve been poking away at a wip that I finally decided I need to exorcise from my brain. I guess my goals for this month are:
-
finish the prologue by the end of the month so I can put it on cogdemos for feedback (mostly for friends who have been asking what the heck I’ve been doing lately)
-
maybe have a cathartic cry (unrelated to the wip, they’re just necessary sometimes)
-
work out some plotting stuff, because [vague hand gestures]
-
start on chapter one
It’s been very nice to have a creative outlet these last few days, so I hope that mindset sticks around.
Those all look great! Though I would recommend having the different types of acting not being totally separate. Because a lot of actors don’t pick one and ignore the other two.
fair enough, I will powerthrough it and see if I can get some beta testers to see how it feels.
Sorta, My prologue is made to make the supernatural reveal more impactful by setting the tone of the normalcy in the player’s life before it all goes to hell.
Today in adventures of my fingerling potato brain:
Ohhhh, what a pleasant shape! Such lovely color and smooth, soft lines. The sculptor must have put such effort to craft such a gentle piece. I bet it was a social, smoking tool to share weed buds or something. Put the buds in center hole and put pressure on one end to make the other side lift up in offering to a friend…
[reads down] it’s a war axe
Ah.
The brain wants to turn swords to ploughshares so bad
…are…are you Simon Blackquill? Have you ever played Ace Attorney because there’s a character who studies psychology and law and becomes a prosecutor but does moonlight as a defense counsel when he wants do you like birds and swords too by any chance
[cough, cough] sorry, sorry, honestly your studies sound fascinating and your drive to be a public defender very worth doing. Thank you and best of luck!
Every time I’ve been on the thread this month, there’s been an itchy feeling in the back of my snotty head that I’m forgetting something. The something is my writing goals. Yanno, one of the big main things to do
My goal this month is polish and write Chapter 8. Which is the same as last month shhh shhh don’t worry about it.
I mean…current game I’m writing has a faction most known for their enormous eagle mounts, and another best known for their swordsmanship…
So I plead the fifth.
Oh my goooood, this makes me very happy. Thank you. I very patiently wait for the day to buy your game.
Reworked my entire idea for a project and getting in a routine working on it
Man. It has been a year since I first arrived here. Crazy to see all that happened. As I turn 20 today, it really surprises me just how willing so many people are to dedicate months and months of their lives on just one project. If not more. With no real guarantee of success. Its rather motivating really, especially if you are like me and tend to not commonly manage to stick with a task for a long period of time consistently.
It has been a struggle to actually maintain focus and not fall to the temptation of procrastination and laziness. But Ive certainly noticed a considerable improvement in my ability to actually work on a long term project.
Here’s to the next year. May it bring us all some joy and success, and may thee who has a project find much motivation to continue!
Today, I’m having a stupid worldbuilding problem - I have this alien species that’s broken to different subspecies descending from a common ancestor (which they don’t know… they believe they’re separate species), and I can’t decide if this Lost Culture is the common ancestor or the fourth subspecies believed to be extinct.
(Which practically means, I’m not sure if I need to come up with an extra name.)
(Could call them Dreki I guess.)
Hey, Anna!
That’s definitely something I’ll look into. I may merge them as a Master Branch of sorts, though I’m not quite sure yet. Mainly as the career branches will be more code heavy to begin with so to give diversified branching under a single profession could be a bit more difficult.
After an uneven early part of the week and a lot of tiredness for various reasons, I got in the groove today and have now coded almost all of Chapter 3 of Project Amble, and gone past 50,000 words total!
